This video is a guide on how to file a VA claim for chronic fatigue syndrome in 2020
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome VA Rating: What is Chronic Fatigue Syndrome?
In 2020, the VA disability ratings for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome are 10%, 20%, 40%, 60%, and 100%, and depend upon the frequency, severity, and duration of a veteran’s symptoms.
This means the more severe your symptoms, the higher the VA rating for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
The highest possible VA disability rating for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is 100 percent.
So, let’s take a minute to explore the law regarding the symptoms and impairment required to warrant a VA disability rating for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
Many veterans, especially Gulf War Veterans, suffer from a variety of unexplained medical conditions to include Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is a complex disorder characterized by extreme fatigue in veterans that can’t be explained by any specific medical condition.
A veteran’s level of fatigue may worsen with physical or mental activity but doesn’t improve with rest.
According to the Mayo Clinic, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is a systemic exertion intolerance disease (SEID) or myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME).
The Connection Between Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Gulf War Veterans
Gulf War Veterans who develop Myalgic Encephalomyelitis / Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) do not have to prove a connection between their illnesses and service to be eligible to receive VA disability compensation, although at VA Claims Insider we still recommend getting a Medical Nexus Letter (Independent Medical Opinion), especially since Gulf War Syndrome is commonly misunderstood by C&P examiners and VA Raters.
Is Chronic Fatigue Syndrome a VA Disability?
Yes, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is a VA disability.
VA disability ratings for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome are 10 percent, 20 percent, 40 percent, 60 percent, and 100 percent, and depend upon the frequency, severity, and duration of a veteran’s symptoms over time.
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is rated under CFR 38, Part 4, VA Schedule of Ratings, Diagnostic Code 6354, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

I’ve TH-cam’d this directly as a vet and this popped up. This speaks to my soul so much it makes me want to cry. This is me 100% I’m constantly tired during the day, and it’s everyday even with good sleep. Even if I go out for an hour I’m ready to come back home due to fatigue. I’m 33 no way this should be happening and I hate it

I’m interested to know the same thing. I am seeing the VA for PTSD yet have a C&P for CFS (Gulf War presumptive) with a DBQ from my own DR. The VA does not follow M21-1 guidelines most of the time. I’ll post back my findings as I already have an Autoimmune issue that SC. I think the VA tries to use the excuse of pyramiding with some presumptives……. I filed for CFS in the 90s, but they knew nothing about CFS, it was called Gulf War Syndrome and was denied.

I am rated 100% for CFS. It's a horrible condition. The diagnosis is splattered all over my military Medical Health Record. The Navy spent considerable time sending me to a battery of tests to rule out other causes. There's basically zero treatment available and 99% of doctors know very little about it. It's sad really.

I served in the Navy and was deployed to the Persian Gulf for 6 months each time in 1987 and 1989 and I do have chronic fatigue syndrome whether it’s from the Persian Gulf air itself or from my chronic back pain which was diagnosed at the VA 20+ years ago as a lifetime condition with a herniated/bulging L4 and L5 and S1 disc. I know that I can claim chronic fatigue syndrome due to my herniated and bulging disc but my question is can I claim chronic fatigue syndrome for my two six-month deployments to the Persian Gulf in 1987 in the 1989?

i have a 30% disability granted to me under undiagnosed illness/medically unexplained chronic multisymptom illness for neuropathy of the lower extremities, virtigo, and balance deficits. these were awarded in 2009, i served in the 1st gulf war as a cavalry scout for the 1st armored division as a gunner on a bradley fighting vehicle. i have the medical evidence over the last year that would in my opinion qualify me for chronic fatigue syndrome to file under a presumptive. the problem is that VA after over a year of testing to rule out, fails to give me an actual diagnosis for CFS/6354. i am stuck. i do have sleep apnea with c-pap. i filed for service connection for that and was denied service connection. my question is can I file a claim without a diagnosis for cfs under mucmi/undiagnosed illness? or do i still need an actual diagnosis to qualify for the presumptive? second question is can i get a diagnosis through an IMO? if so, who do i contact. i am currently rated at 30%+10%insomnia (rated under a mental health condition)+10%tinnitus= 40% with va math. i am stuck!!! and frustrated by the VA's unwillingness to do what is right. i am 100% honest in any claim i have filed and the va basically says you are a liar until proven otherwise. very sad.

So early complaints and doctors NOT knowing screws you over. I’m talking early 90’s 1 month after Gulf war. So be warned press your issues in that first year!

I've been written up at work for falling asleep at my desk 2 letters of warning from 2 different supervisors and a LOR from my branch chief. FYI I work for the DoD, so these letters are no joke, they are written just like the military . So, another claim for CFS looking good?
