i would agree about steering clear of using L-jet. i did it, and made it work but it was a waste of time to be honest, i was using an adjustable FMU running who knows what pressure on 30lb injectors, i had to mechanically lock out the distributor advance to prevent pinging and the low end drivability sucked, i was running too much boost on an ebay turbo with an internal gate that was boost creeping. dont get me wrong it did make a lot of power lol. i went to a microsquirt setup with their ign 6 coil and quadspark ignition module.. it was easy to set up, but i had to use injector resistors because the l-jet used low impedance injectors. as well as get a trigger wheel from a motronic 1.3 car i dont believe megasquirt makes a plug and play module for the l-jet systems. if i remember correctly the whole setup for the ecu with wiring, coils, and ignition module was only like 800 bucks for everything i needed and tuning timing is critical when running boost

m30's just reaaaally love that 18psi range! it seemed like mine picked up so much power from 14 to 18psi. for anyone else interested in m30 reliability on stock internals i ran my 2.8l m30 at 18psi for almost 2 years with a stock head gasket and stock head bolts before it blew the head gasket out because the bolts stretched, would definitely not recommend that on a b35. i put a cometic gasket and ARP studs and i've ripped it at 22psi ever since, i recently had the head off again because i broke a rocker arm which is probably one of the only mechanical weak points of this engine, and i could still see crosshatch in the cylinder walls on an engine with over 240,000 miles!

    • @DENVERBEERANDOIL

If you really want to go crazy with your O-rings and "fire rings," hit up an oilfield O-ring supply company. These companies make hardened rubber O-rings capable of withstanding several hundred degree temperatures. Be sure to have your specifications ready (O.D. [Outer Diameter], I.D. [Interior Diameter], thickness, etc.) and beef up your internals and headgaskets if you're going to go nuts with boost pressures. Best of all, build that M30 from the ground up for turbos. There are turbo M30 engines that have made over 1,000 reliable horsepower.
In fact, BMW took their M10 (rumored to be an M30 six with two cylinders lopped off) four cylinder, built a custom 16 valve head with a turbo, and it put out 1,300 hp in BMW's racing days in the 70s. Great racing engines, but their highly temperamental behavior made them poor choices for the street. Today these engines are almost impossible to find and are million dollar engines for their historical value.
