As a gamine I tried all my life to perfect my winged eyeliner... Then after this video I tried to stop my liner and just blend it a bit upward and I am in love, best eye make up ever! Thank you Aly, you are a true artist! ♥
Probably not the best way to say it but Gamine’s can have a choppy look with makeup. That would look messy on other types but it works for Gamine.
Finally ....Gamine
So fast, without the demonstrated technique, and no 'division'...I am a Dramatic Gamine, my daughter is a Romantic gamine. This was so fast and not informative. For the first time, I am completely disappointed in my favorite make-up and technique artist. On my own again.

Yeah we are in the gamines!! Soft Gamine here, you know I can see from this makeup, a lot of my cousins are gamine, bc these are the looks that look the best on them. While I, the runt and youngest by far these look harsh on me, when I wear dark eyeliner on my waterline I lose my freshness and look tired and older.

I am a FG and I spend 5-10 minutes doing my makeup: bold matte lip, some eyeliner on the upper lids and thick mascara. Sometimes a little blush (with the lipstick) and white eyeliner on the inner corners of my eyes.

You have helped so much . I now understand why somethings suit me while some just don’t. For example: I’m a soft natural n I always thought I’m very boyish looking but when I gave your test I understood I have round flesh around me making me a soft natural.
Also with makeup I couldn’t pull off very precise /dark lipstick but now I understand y... so I just make my lipstick less precise when applying darker lipshades. Thanks a lot.

I’ve noticed that dark makeup rocks on me but when larger people copy it, its too much for them and they get annoyed. I never do winged eyeliner cuz it looks better with dark under liner kinda Egyptian. How cool!

You should do makeup and style models of every single type to show how it's done. I know you've done videos about what hair, makeup, glasses, and clothes suit each type but it would be great to see it in action.

Now I understand why I didn't like winged eyeliner even tho it was 'supposed to lift my eyes!!
I just avoided putting anything on the lower part of the eyes bc it always made my eyes droopy, but now I learned how to do "dolly/rounded" makeup without the droopy effect!!! You're a goddess!!!
This is so helpful, thank you! I always done my makeup slightly on the dramatic side and on me for some reason it never looked too much or too vulgar and I always wondered why. I'm such a makeup lover and I just love wearing a full face of it. I also love that gamine can wear little makeup and also a lot of makeup like smokey eyes, it gives us a lot to experiment with which is so fun. I'm also kinda short and mostly a straight body shape. Thanks for helping us know more about what we look best in!

I would love to see you analyze the body types of overweight women. I’m having a hard time identifying myself because I’m overweight and your body changes when weight is applied. Please do a series on this with examples!
Finally gamines! But I find those looks very harsh for my soft gamine face that is very rounded and fleshy, would you do makeup for us?

OMG this is the best! I am so so happy you are doing the best make up for each type. This really helps me, as I'm a Gamine. I couldn't figure out exactly why some make up looks looked good on me and some didn't, but now, thanks to you, I understand it so much better! Every time I tried to do an elaborate & blended eye-shadow look I always looked really bad in it, and now I understand why!

Love your videos. I've had Kibbe's book for years but I love your visuals and comments. Something I've always thought about are the different body types which are the ideal in each country, such as the Parisian Gamine, the soft dramatic of Italy, the Natural in Sweden, Russia seems to have a theatrical romantic glamor (my type) and the US has the soft and flamboyant natural ideal. Every country has many beautiful types of course. The beauty of Kibbe is that every type has its own unique beauty. I think this would make a very interesting video!
When I took the test, it was decided I was a classic but my friends keep telling me how I look skinny and short and when I wear make-up, it's exactly how you do it in your video and I look good. Can you be between classic and gamine?
I am petite but dont have delicately sharp facial features. I have a moderate lip, large nose, thick brows. Would this makeup work for me?

I am a definite gamine but I don’t look good with crisp makeup I look better blended especially with lips I like to dab on some lip stick and look better with smoky watercolour eyes so I am confused 🤷🏻♀️

It's crazy how I already do my makeup like this! So cool! Kohl on the waterline and eyelid, dark defined eyebrows and lined red lips and I'm good to go. Egyptian style works best
can you tell us how to tweak these techniques to suite the soft gamine type?
wat the soft gamine should probably err more in the side of romantic, but it depends on the face. I’m a soft gamine due to my height and bone size, but I have a theatrical romantics face
@@ariesmry Theatrical romantics are pretty short too though, so you could be TR going by height.

I think the reason why the dewy makeup works best on your mom is due to age. Matte makeup tends to not be flattering on older women. They need a bit of dewiness to brighten the face. I find that as I get older, matte makeup doesn’t look as good on me as it did when I was younger. It ages me and drags my face down. It gives me a ‘tired’ look. Your mom is very cute by the way. 🙂

Your face type and your body type may differ. If your face is soft, do a more romantic type of make-up, if your face is angular, go towards natural/dramatics.

My best friends from school are gamine identical twins..I think they are soft gamine but I just love gamine looks in general. Now I see why they always looked good in high necklines and chokers. Even now in our early 50’s they favor those fun , almost childlike looks. They have no idea about the body types, just know what works for them. In my opinion it’s the coolest type as it’s so unique and quirky and fun. Love it!
Looking like Lilly Rose Depp with that makeup at the end . I always thought Lilly has a gamine face , her mother too. Im SG and like my makeup softer and natural looking with a glow , i think i look best that way. I prefer eyeshadows rather than eyeliners, but i like to use eyeliner pencil (not liquid/gel) ,under and on the lash line but certainly not thick and still keeping it natural looking. Although, i have always related more to TR than SG because they have more focus on my delicate bone structure where as gamines are generally spoken of as being a little wider and more angular. Were all different and can be very narrow , and more delicate than angular too. So, i suit everything more delicate like TR ,even when concerning makeup and hair . Im too far yin , probably the furthest to yin an SG can be in bone structure. All that differentiates me from TR is i have narrow chest and wide, rounded ,high cheek bones . I think this is why everything advised for TR looks better on me than what is advised for SG.

I've actually done that. I've mesaaged Aly via email, sent pictures, both present and from when I was slimmer. She replied quite fast, very friendly and confidently. "I think you are soft natural." I shared some doubts in the reply and she replied that right, I have that roundness but my angles are more blunt and I am moderate in height so not small like romantic type. She is so sweet and helpful I really recommend contacting her, a wonderful and accepting experience ;)

What if you look like you should be a gamine but your eyes are really large and darker colors don't look good on you? I tried the intense and less intense liner and my friends agreed it was way too much but they think I'm a gamine body-type wise.
I still can't figure out... What when you're tiny, delicate legs and arms, but very busty and, almost what you consider an apple shape when it comes to the top? Can that be a gemine bodyshape?

This does Not work for me, since I have All Sharp facial Features and small eyes
But I think you look better with bright not matte lipsticks and a bit of shimmer, I mean the foundation looks a bit too much on you, too "cakey" to me. I think you would look amazing with dramatic makeup in the eyes and the rest romantic/theatrical romantic if that makes sense. I guess it's because there are many gamines, some are softer and some are sharper.
She's soft gamine, maybe there's a difference. Hopefully she'll do videos on the subtypes
It's supposed to be a gamine video that is why she contoured her face to make it more like a gamine and mentioned her gamine mum. It is not to suit her soft gamine it is to help the straight Gamine type.

I agree with some of the comments here. These looks probably don't work well with soft gamine features like round and puffy cheeks. Also it's a lot of makeups to wear for work. Perhaps only for nightouts or special occasions.
She's definitely doing this as a demo, and it looks like this is for the specific categorization of gamine rather than its subtypes.
I'm gamine with shorter arms and legs...petite, for sure. Audrey Hepburn is my favorite gamine. She was adorable.
