    🙋🏼 ABOUT ME: Hi guys! My name is Alyona. I was born in Russia. I'm a musician. And I love art, makeup, fashion, style and beautiful environments. I love playing with makeup and fashion, but at the same time, I’m quite a minimalistic person. I don't like the idea of being fixated on the body too much. I have an alternative and unconventional viewpoint on beauty, the body types and face shapes. I love helping other women find their "it" and finally discover their beauty and boost their confidence.
    I have several series on my channel that you might be interested in such as: Body Types, Contouring, Makeup History and Makeup Transformations. Also some random beauty hacks about skin care, hair, nails and beauty in general.

    My sister is a dramatic classic. She's been wearing basicly the same look for years: brown matte eyeshadow and bordeaux lips. And I always thought it looked fantastic on her.

    i am a dramatic classic and i always did this makeup even prior to ever finding out about these types. i always felt that defined brows, mascara and bold lips looks the best on me.

    I'm a dramatic classic with naturally thick brows. Once one of my friends filled my eyebrows and I looked horrible, I just leave my brows as they are and I think they look fabulous on me.

    I've come to the same conclusion: symmetry and definition is the key. Pastel colors and too romantic blended make up looks like clown on me or too much. I feel like my features already are somehow contoured and highlighted naturally so i need really little make up that will define and underline lips or eyes.

      Yes! Same. On the face, I only want to mimic the low & highlights which were already visible on my face before I applied concealer or foundation to cover up blemishes. Then add in the black mascara, then a neat lip. ✔️ explains why I like my everyday makeup, but tend to feel slightly off for formal events.

    I'm amazed by the accuracy of the "clownish" comment. So many times I've done my makeup and then stood and looked at myself, then wiped half of it off. That also happens every time I have my makeup done professionally -- even if I warn them first, I always end up having them remove so much makeup. More than anything else I've seen, this makes me feel like a DC for sure! Thank you!

    oh, my god, Aly! I just stood in front of my mirror and pretty much went through the 3 types of makeup like you do in these videos, doing everything you recommend to dramatic classics, and I basically freaked out at every look. Your tips are GOLD! All of them worked at flattering my features. The waterline thing particularly made me go "wow!" I hadn'r darkened my waterline in so many years, so it was a shock how good it looked on me. You definitely changed the way I'll do my makeup from now on. Thank you so much!

  • @PettyBlue1
    @PettyBlue1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +18

    I have this type of face and I've finally come to terms of what works and what doesn't. You were spot on about that "clownish" look. Things like red lips or huge winged eyeliner tend to look over the top very fast. I guess the face is very defined as it is. Also, I've never regreted overdoing the eyebrows at the end of the day, but leaving them too blonde and undefined looks really unbalanced and tired. Lavander blush looks fresh and beautiful, like you've just been outdoors. Personally, I do like dotting along the lower lash line. I have very round, big eyes, but they lack that "frame". And lining eyes is always a good idea. Can skip mascara, can't skip the liner, unless if I use eyeshadows instead. For lips - soft edges, muted colours.

    Thanks for this video Aly! Very imformative. I'm a dramatic classic and I never understood why I don't look good with universal makeup I look better in natural looking makeup or no makeup at all, because it looks too much on me but never would I have thought it was because of my facial structure. Also contouring my cheeks makes me look like a skull head LOL

    very accurate. As a dramatic classic I do look good with matte lip or matte foundation. Sometimes darker color lipstick with a bit shine is also working. And my eyes can’t handle too much eyeshadow, it will make my eyes look so tired. Hope some of the dramatic classic viewers can share their tips. Thank you for the very helpful video.;)

    • @lucyk2634

      One tip from me, you can apply darker eye shadow just on the outer side of eye, more like on the end of eye, and follow crease with it. I hope you understand. Just do that, and you'll look amazing. Never put shadow on the whole eye, except for shadows in colours of your skin

  • @SICness100
    @SICness100 4 ปีที่แล้ว +30

    As a Dramatic Classic I will definetly use more than just matte browns on my eyes, simply because I love colors and glitter 😁 but it's definetly true for me that my make up looks best when I emphasize my bone structure and eye shape instead of blending too much

  • @kinga9726
    @kinga9726 3 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    As a dramatic classic no matter how hard I try I can't pull off eyeliner(it looks very harsh regardless of the shape),more than minimal eyeshadow looks worse than no makeup, countouring makes my face look dirty and uglier also too sharp lips look out of place. Even a black maskara looks a bit too harsh so I use a brown one. However natural looking full dark brows or darker matt lip look amazing. Lavender or dark red blush looks great. Lighter powder around eye area makes face look clean and fresh. Lashes need some volume. While learning to do makeup sometimes I felt that something was wrong with my face because popular makeup looks didn't really make me prettier, I wish kibbe system was more popular so less people feel this way

    I didn't like my type at first, but seeing how sharp and neat we can look (while also finding the right clothes for me) makes me understand we look quite damn good! :)
    As a dramatic classic I rarely see other dramatic classics, they are a little bit more unusual than, let's say, SN or FN. So I oftentimes feel like I stand out in my sharp clean lines at work, and I've come to really like it! :)

    I am a dramatic classic. I've noticed that often extremely colorful eye looks never suit me as much. I love eye makeup. But I have to blend it very well every time. The only colours, other than neutrals that look truly good on me are blues, purples and occasionally khaki colours. I also like to add some mild duo chrome shades in case I feel a little adventurous. But extremely structured or un-blended smokey eyes make my face look weird. I also have to make sure to have a completely nude before doing eye makeup.
    For day time, I've found that the stereotypical "effortless french makeup with red lipstick" is often the most convenient (applying red with your fingers).
    Pin-up inspired makeup, on the other hand, looks downright clownish.
    What are your thoughts?

    That moment when Aly transforms into you only after applying foundation and contouring! HOW?? I learned a lot, even though I do my makeup very similarly, that was a relief :) One thing I do in a different way is sometimes smudge the contour of my lipstick just a bit, for a more subtle look. Also it's easy to get away without contouring, since our bone structure creates a lot of natural shadow. Thank you, you are one of a kind.

    I always wondered why too much makeup and bold colours, eyeliners and colourful make-up looks looked so dull on me, like I was trying to drag myself down and it was always a bit 'too much' where on the other hand a simple brush of brows and thin eyeliner + mascara along with a classic lip always suited me, now I know why it happens. With the way my face is structured I don't need much contour except sometimes on my nose and altho I like to try out looks, I always look best in the soft classic glam. It brings out my features the best.

  • @LG9618
    @LG9618 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I definitely am able to wear all three, and it is so helpful to see how you break down each makeup look on different DC representatives. It's not about how 'wrong' they look, but how it can be done better.
    For example, even though I'm a DC (there isn't a doubt in my body that the lines work), I can't pull off a middle part. I managed to have one for awhile when I was younger, and it looked amazing. But my hair just won't go there now. I wear it more as a side part but I keep a blunt cut and make sure to comb my hair so that it looks groomed.
    As a Bright Spring (bright, neutral to neutral warm colours are perfect on me), it's hard to balance the crazy amount of colour I am capable of wearing, needing shine and sheer but pigmented makeup with the dusty, heavy, matte and universal (neutral) palette that comes from being a Dramatic Classic. I've always wondered why grooming and dramatic makeup spoke to me, and it's these two parts coming together:)

    I struggle figuring out what season, what Kibbe type, etc, but I think I am a Dramatic Classic.....I wear eye makeup & almost nothing else. Nothing on my skin (& never have...I'm 42 btw), I have a single blush I use for special occasions. I do play up my green eyes. For years I did a taupe shimmer on the lid & 2 coats mascara-Top & Bottom. The last 2yrs I have bought more eyeshadow, Indie makeup, etc & have been doing much more colorful eye makeup. Frankly it's not as flattering, but it's fun! I always do some shimmer, but I have deepset eyes, so it suits me in particular, plus not doing the whole rest of my face, I certainly don't think that makes my makeup anything but minimal. I like a subtle lip color....red literally makes me look like a clown, despite red clothes being stunning on my olive skin! But my lips are very dry so I can't do much, other than chapstick lol. TY for doing a useful video!

      I found that I can and prefer (!) dewy skin, but if so my blush has to be strong. Pastels render my skin tone muddy and I look a bit lost.

    I so enjoy your insights. I’m a dramatic classic, but a True Spring, which seem to work against each other; for instance true spring does well with shimmer but Dramatic Classic doesn’t. Its recommended to avoid clownish/brighter colors as a dramatic classic, but I have very few dark colors in my True Spring pallet. Add two freakishly deep dimples and I’m lost as to how and what to contour/highlight.

    • @peacefreedomandwealth
      @peacefreedomandwealth 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Aly.
    I.absolutely love what you're doing with your channel especially with David Kibbe styles. You're so authentic and lovable. I even shared your Kibbe playlist with my friends.
    I do have one request. Please include more women of colour. I would love knowing which style ID Angela Basset, Kerry Washington, Lupita Nyong'o, Naomi Campbell, Amara La Negra, Viola Davis, Adut Akech, Gabrielle Union are - it's a long list!!.
    I''m a Dramatic which I didn't want to accept or rather, accepted while kicking and screaming... so I went searching for women of colour and found only one Kibbe reference which was Sheryl Lee Ralph classified as a Dramatic. I would love to see a Dramatic with our wild textured hair and how the makeup on darker skin translates.
    Again, you're doing a terrific job. I can't wait to see more people who look like me.

    Hi Aly and Community!
    Have a question re Kibbe typing:
    What if your body doesn't fit easily into the categories even when examined broadly? Taking a broad approach, my body has:
    - yang bone structure (body bones yang to maybe balanced, face bones yang)
    - balanced body flesh (two thirds balanced, one third yin)
    - yin facial features
    Can't find any of the broad descriptions that seem to cover that :( My body seems to lean classic perhaps but my face seems to lean gamine, and even if just looking at the body, I lean sharp on top and softer on bottom but probably not enough to qualify gamine. Not sure which classic either.
    Do you just try out clothing from each and see what works better?
    Would love some input! Thanks all, hope you have a lovely day :)
    EDIT: Side note, when looking at overall A/B/etc answers, I come out Dramatic Classic, but feel too curvy on the bottom to count?

    • @StevieMichelle
      @StevieMichelle 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Dima you have to keep in mind it's not going to fit 100% into your body type because then again we are all different. I had the same issue as you, and I found my self to be a classic at first but I then realized I'm 100% a dramatic classic. It was only hard because I was comparing to much my body to the celebrity examples and it made it all more confusing. I watched a video called "Actual body type profiles" by Merriam Style the girl who made the video used her fans so we can get a more realistic view on the body types. That video helped me a lot, I really needed to see day to day girls with the same body type to compare.

    • @nmqoss5621
      @nmqoss5621 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think trying/imagining yorself in clothing for each bodytype is the best way to find your body type. Thats how I did it. I personally think this typing system is about lines: angles and lenght. Angles can be sharp (dramatic), blunt (natural), round (romantic) and smooth (classic). And lenght is a vertical line -- how long your arms, legs and neck and how big your head looks compared to your body. For example, flamboyant natural, natural and flamboyant gamine have same angles (blunt) but different vertical lines. Dramatic classic is smooth+sharp angles and average vertical line. But thats just my interpretation. Alyona has patreon, she answers questions there, you can ask about your body type there, if nothing helps.

      @@StevieMichelle Thanks for the tip! I've had a look at Merriam's videos, and being honest, I'm not sure it's cleared much up. Definitely helpful and interesting, but still a bit lost with the nuances.
      It seems like there are a few body types where there are only a few minor differences but end up in completely different fields. Found it hard to tell between Soft Dramatic-Soft Natural-Dramatic Classic-Classic-Soft Classic-Gamine-Soft Gamine. I guess it's just a bit hard in the middle of the spectrum

      Maybe lean a bit towards gamine and see how it works with the rest of your repertoire? Theres a lot of theory to this and trial and error.
      I've been trying to pare down from Kibbe and my own experience towards a style that expresses me, and I've found that I can add accessories in ingenue ( not accepted by Kibbe, but there's a neutral youthfulness that gamines don't provide) to my wardrobe which elevates it.

    I had to watch many of your kibbe videos to kinda guess that I might be a dramatic classic, so I came to watch this video
    Everything that you say seems SO RIGHT for what I thought is the best for me (after studying years also about the right makeup) that now I have to see comparison videos of makeup for other types 😁
    So it’s great, this might be a strong confirmation for me, thank you!!

    Thank you for your video and for the clothes ideas on pinterest !! You have such a talent to change your face in another type :) After looking at the celebrities examples, I think DC look better with an eye make up rather than a lipstick make up as they have more yang energy, and that's what I observed on me.

    • @LittleMissHoop
      @LittleMissHoop 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Interesting...why do you think eye better than lip, how does this relate to yang energy?

    • @ansolanglois18
      @ansolanglois18 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      i think dramatic people like Keira Knightley or Eva Green look amazing with dark smoky eyes, on the other hand, Marylin Monroe red glamorous lips were very crazy on her, it showed her romantic vibes. for DC people light make up for eyes and lips are fine, but i think eye make up adds a little plus, as it brings attention to the upper part of the face and balances with the squarish jaws they often have...

    Wow. Bang on for me, even as being quite over-weight. I have a bright red lipstick and it just doesn't work for me lol.
    I have orange hair and related complexion. I thought it was this was the reason I look like a clown with bright or pastel colours. What you said makes sense thanks. :)

    No makeup look is my go-to look, although it includes a good cream and foundation. Mascara and black eye-liner. Good to go. Even a lipstick can put it out of balance. Natural to Bordeaux lip-liner is an option for a more dramatic look. No eye-shadows, no colours, no shine, no pearl.

    You gave me options that I didn't think could be good for me I did not put eyeliner in my water line before and I declined to put blush since I was a teenager

    Thanks for these, Aly! Your intelligent, thoughtful explanations are amazing. Even my husband stops what he's doing to watch when I put your videos on because they are so fascinating. Using your advice here (as a dramatic classic) and some make up focused colour theory videos (as a pale, blue-grey eyed woman), I am trying to design my own custom eyeshadow palette. Would you be able to discuss colour theory as it relates to skin, hair, and eye colour? In particular, I'm struggling with why I would pair my cool toned skin with cool blush and lipstick, but pair my eyes with warm toned eye shadow without it looking mismatched. Thanks!

    Any other DC here who feel like fals lashes overpower the eyes ? I've tried them out so many times and everytime before leaving the house I take them off again because it just doesn't look "right".. don't know why that is. Maybe just my eye shape? The only way I can pull it off is if I only wear them on the outer corner of my eyes, makes a great cat eye affect

    It is possible to be a mixture of dramatic and soft classic right? I do the make up very decent, but a classic cold red lipstick looks great on me. And I habe sharp shoulders, straight and not too long coat suit me well, but also some very feminine colors.
