I thought the same thing. When he was telling her at 19 that she was a baby, it was almost like he was goading her into "proving" she was an "adult", I guess. The ick started there. He seems pretty fixated on her but knows he's too old for her and that she doesn't like him. It's gross. First Story: Tammy is insane if she thinks OP would just give her baby to her. This reminds me of a story Rslash covered where OP's bestfriend got caught breastfeeding OP's baby behind OP's back and she kept calling the baby "ours". Granted this story isn’t as insane as that one but still, the fact Tammy and OP's dad flew from one country to another to ask for split custody of OP's kid is insane
Second Story: Its crazy how OP and his brother basically swapped gfs, it sucks it took Turk and Jen being a cheater for that to happen. Its ironic how Turk ended up getting cheated on by Jen and she ran off with the other guy
Brother's Post: Lmao he "accidentally" got his parents uninvited" from a wedding 😂
Third Story: Harold is straight up an asshole and OP's dad is a jackass for letting his friend constantly and blatantly disrespect his own daughter TO HER FACE. The fact that OP's dad called OP to basically argue over this "small fight" speaks volumes of who side he is on and its not OP's
Fourth Story: OP's sister sounds like a nightmare to be around. It's crazy how their parents are giving the sister funds for a wedding when she isn’t even engaged; this makes me wonder: where is that money even going?
Fifth Story: The level of entitlement is wild. It isn’t petty at all, OP and her husband PAYS for that parking spot; so if this lady thinks she can park their whenever she feels like it OP is well within her rights to get it towed. Good on the son for taking OP's side in this situation
Sixth Story: Hmmmm I wonder why they got kicked out of their last home. Hmmmmmmm 🤔. Sarcasm aside, OP's mom and aunt are going to end up homeless if they keep up this behavior up

*For anyone wanting to read the entire update in Story 3*
"Hey guys! I wasn't going to write an update, but I just got some free time and I figured I'd fill you in.
I'll start by addressing the (very frequent) assumption that Harold has feelings for me. I really don't think that's the case. His comments always came out as annoying and condescending, but never sexual. But I will say that your comments scared the shit out of me. And the fact that the general consensus was "fuck Harold" was weirdly heartwarming.
I also want to add that, while I did regret what I said a little bit, I never doubted I'd done the right thing. I think most of my regret came from the fact that my eight years of keeping the peace were over. It took some time for the relief to sink in. Truth be told, I've been wanting to do this since the barbecue incident, which was when I went from "I don't like that guy" to "I can't stand that guy."
My father called Harold the day after I made my previous post. When confronted about the adoption comment, he tried to twist it as him being "genuinely concerned" about me being a mom so soon, and that he didn't think I knew what I was doing. He did apologize to my father. I don't buy any of that.
The next day, my dad told me about the call. He said I should forgive Harold for what he thought was an honest misunderstanding. He also told me I should apologize too, since I'd "overreacted" by telling Harold I hated him for such a small reason.
Many of Harold's past comments were made with my father close by. It often happened in the middle of conversations with other people, so he'd be too distracted to register them. He also wouldn't notice them most of the time. My dad doesn't pay enough attention to anything that doesn't either concern or anger him, and he'll most likely forget it until he gets angry at something else later anyway. He's like a meth head goldfish. We also have different definitions of what's offensive, so he'd never think they were a big deal.
I told my father I wasn't exaggerating when I said I hated Harold, and that the adoption comment was far from being the only reason. I listed most of the condescending treatment and comments I could remember, including the ones from the party. He didn't remember any of them. I made it very clear that I'd hated Harold for years prior to the party, and that I had nothing to apologize for.
I then stated that I'm no longer coming to any events Harold is invited to. My father doesn't need to stop being friends with him, or even stop inviting him to stuff, but he can no longer expect me to show up as well. I will ask him beforehand, and if he lies, I'll leave.
My father called me dramatic, but I pointed out that I've been avoiding Harold for six years now and no one even noticed, so it clearly wasn't a problem. I've only seen him a handful of times since the barbecue incident, and only twice for more than a few minutes (the lunch party last week and another party back when I was pregnant). It clearly didn't ruin my father's life. I'm not obliged to like his friends any more than he is to like mine.
There was some back and forth, but he agreed to my terms. We spoke yesterday about something else, and he mentioned Harold was upset. I ignored that.
I'm not going NC with my father. Yes, I'm very well aware he's an asshole, and I came really close to cutting times with him in the last few years, but I ultimately decided it wouldn't really fix anything. Maintaining my relationship with him has gotten a lot easier since I moved out, as we only see each other a couple times a month. He gets frustrated that I don't call or text much, but doesn't complain about it anymore. I don't see the point in going NC with someone who no longer has any say in how I live my life. I'd rather just take note of what my father did wrong when I was growing up and then make sure to raise my own kid differently.
He's on thin ice, though, and has been for some time. He's not allowed to babysit, mostly because I don't trust him to spend more than an hour alone with a baby without falling asleep on the couch. I began pushing for him to start doing therapy back when I got pregnant, and he finally got started back in June. His behavior around me and my younger sister (who still lives between our very divorced parents) has improved a lot since, and I've made it clear to him that he won't be allowed near my son if he stops attending.
This is the first time in my life my father has improved his behavior. It's hard to be hopeful, but I'm trying. And if I ever do go NC with my father, it won't be because of fucking Harold.
So that's it. Overall, I'm glad I don't have to deceive anyone anymore. My relationship with my father is rocky, but I won't dwell on it. My main responsibilities are my son, my fiancé and my job, and that's not changing anytime soon.
And to those who mentioned Jesus Christ Superstar and Blue Öyster Cult in my last post: has anyone told you you're fucking awesome today? Because you are."

OP has a lot more self-control and integrity than I do. If I were in her shoes, I would have told this a**hole that I hated him THE FIRST TIME, relationship with my dad be damned, because this douchebag 100% deserves to be hated. Harold is an absolute sack of crap and the only reason I can think of for why the dad would defend and stick up for him is that the dad is secretly gay and has feelings for Harold, which is honestly just AWFUL, putting your crush on someone else ahead of your own daughter's feelings. My response to "I really like you even though you're an impolite brat" would have been "That's fine. I like you too even though you're a condescending judgmental bully." Harold and OP's dad are both MEGA toxic and they can both go to hell. Oh, and Harold is also giving me creepy pedo vibes, which adds another layer of YUCK to this whole story. Harold is already a terrible person, but if he's been perving on OP this whole time and putting her down because he can't get with her, that makes him utterly DISGUSTING.

Dude, the brother's story is a doozy with how entitled he is. Basically, he waives away the cheating by saying while they were all hanging out, he found his personality best matched Jen's, and they started getting close, and claimed a moment of weakness, that then turned to them sneaking behind their SO's backs, and then claims they broke off their relationships to date each other. Then, surprise surprise, Jen cheats on him and leaves him for another guy after 6 months. So then he realizes how good Maria was to him, and wants to get back together with her, only to find out that she's now dating Arthur (his brother and the OP of the other story.) Now it's 4 years later and he hears from his parents that they're getting married, and he feels hurt that he didn't get an invite, bringing up the whole "I know stuff happened between us, but we're brothers, we're FaMiLy." So he tells his parents he didn't get an invite, and they start going after Arthur to get him to invite his brother, which lead to OP uninviting his parents, so the brother then tries to call Arthur to get them reinvited, as well as himself, but Arthur won't answer his calls. And now he thinks his parents are mad at him for getting them uninvited. And then he ends it with the title, "am I wrong for accidentally getting my parents uninvited from my brother's wedding?"

About the third story: to this day, I'm not exactly sure what "cheeky" means, and here's why.
My Dad was a self-loathing drunk, and the only thing he hated more than himself was everybody else. He put EVERYONE down, and tried to make out like he was joking. Fairly young, I learned to defend myself in a joking way, so I wouldn't appear so rude that I would anger him to violence. His retort - every time - was, "There are two things in this world I can't stand; cheeky kids and disobedient dogs."
His friends would denigrate me, and I would jokingly make fun of them. I'd be told not to be cheeky.
So when I hear someone use the word "cheeky," I can't help but assume that they are telling a child that they should not defend themselves against verbal, emotional or mental abuse, or they will be counted as equal to a disobedient dog. And Dad grew up around working dogs and farms, where disobedient dogs were shot.

For Story 3, if my father was endorsing Harold's opinion that I'm not fit to raise my own child he simply wouldn't be seeing my child anymore. Maybe that would be the wakeup call OP's dad so desperately needs.

  • @MMKMoore1
    @MMKMoore1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Story 3 - I think Dad is "more than friends" with Harold, which is why he's taking his side. I can't think of any other explanation of why he'd support someone who mistreats his child like that. Well, unless OP isn't really his child. 🤔
Story 6 - What did OP's mother and aunt do, come in with police or weapons to force OP to take them in? Why wait to kick them out? If they wait too long, they might have to do a legal eviction process, and who knows how much more of their property will "disappear" or be destroyed?

I don't necessarily read it as them being something other than friends. Some people have a blind spot when it comes to the behaviour of a close friend, especially if you've been 'best mates' for years. There can be a lot of emotional dependence so you don't WANT to see or admit that your mate's an asshole.

Imagine having so little care for your own daughter that you side with your friend after he continually harasses her, even after she's just become the mother of your first(?) grandchild. Even if they're inseparable friends, at the very least apologize and then tell your friend off. If they're such good friends, then he should able to take the criticism. What a joke of a man.

It is so insane how often I hear these stories about people asking for a twin or you already have one so give me the one you're pregnant with.. The audacity of people are just ridiculous! I would laugh in people's face if someone ever told me they would take my baby.. I would have kicked her TF out of my house!! I would throw her ass out like Uncle Phil did Jazz on Fresh Prince of Bel-Aire 🤣🤣

I misunderstood and thought Harold was the dad’s partner so you can imagine my confusion when the dad’s girlfriend was mentioned. I didn’t even question my initial assumption because I was like “i guess that makes sense, too many parents go the shit route of choosing their spouse over their kids” SO YOU CAN IMAGINE MY SURPRISE WHEN I FIND OUT HES JUST SOME GUY THATS FRIENDS WITH THE DAD. I can’t imagine choosing a garbage “friend” over your own kid.

Oh my goodness that first story is absurd and terrifying. Totally agree with the person who said to get a restraining order. I'd go right to the police and show them the nursery photos and any texts you have to back you up. She's seriously going to try something and I'm so scared for you.

Story 5: I am absolutely sure the "passes it on" is referring to Noa being gay, some people believe that it's a disease (it's not).
As for the main portion of the post, I don't like how the parents aren't really doing anything to stop Kate's ignorance and nasty comments. OP and Noa are definitely better off without them

The story with Harold. This is a predatory technique, and he wants op. The point of his bullying is to manipulate her into feeling worthless until he can come in end save the day so to speak. This is a very sick individual andim glad she cut ties with him

I was half asleep while listening to this, and woke up fully when I heard Dabney say my name. I then looked at the screen to see that this woman spells it the same way! I just think that's neat.
Edited to add: OP's parents and sister are such jerks.
