I don't know if this was their intention, but the way the "all my friends are dead" part resonated with me is through the number of multiple-decade friends I lost over the ridiculous stuff they were spewing on social media. I finally just deleted my Facebook account, not so much because of privacy issues or problems with the company but because I was so tired of losing respect for people I'd grown up with. And, being a fair bit older than you, Facebook _was_ the way I kept in touch with most of those folks because families and moving all over the world. Plus the song is a definite banger!

You guys gotta do a gf or friends react to the band vektor. Either Forrest of legend, cosmic cortex, tetrastructural minds, outer isolation, charging the void, LCD, or recharging the void. Really listen to all three of the entire albums. Vektor is a progressive thrash/death metal band with very sci-fi elements
Also, this is metal to me. Ozzy sang. James Hetfield sang. This sounds pretty heavy, and Johnny incorporates screams. Alternative Metal albeit, but metal nonetheless.
My perspective is it is a strong message! First song talking about oppressive government and media being in their pocket that doesn’t sound corny! “Just let me live my life” is a message I identify with but to each their own
