The tools needed for removal and installation include a 3/8 in. socket, ½ in. socket, and a 9/16 in. socket and wrench. To the point without any 'one summer at band camp...'
In my case, on my ZT1 50, I simply threw the belt at the rear engine pulley. With no tension it was easy to unhook the tensioning spring. Also, with not tension, easy to replace belt on rear lower engine pulley. The belt remained in place on all the other pulleys, so I did not have to remove the pulley covers. Main problem -- hooking the spring back up. No way did I have the strength. After much thought and experimentation, I hose-clamped the loose end of the spring to a crowbar. Then it was a pretty simple and painless procedure to lever the spring end in place to attach it to the S-hook. Fortunately there is a protusion on the frame above and toward the rear on the upper frame. I used that as a point to get leverage. Then remove the hose clamp. In retrospect I guess you could even use a broom stick to hose-clamp the spring end. I have read about a number of Cadet owners who had serious problems with the spring. This worked well and quickly for me. Once I figured it out.

5 cuts in on a brand new ZTS1 and the belt came off in the back. Guess I'll see with another set of hands if I can release tension and slide back on. Happened after going over a small stick wth.
what is that golden spring attached to the extension spring?... my ZT 1 spring was hooked directly to the deck..... notwithstanding the welding on the chute side mount was poorly installed......causing the deck to suffer a major failure (looks like a gernade went off)... mount disconnected from deck shell after 39 months ownership.... :(
Can you please do a belt change on a 54 inch
I have problem at minute 2:11.... my deck dropped and started shaving the grass and I looked under the mower and this spindle wobbles. I took this spindle off and under it, the black has 2 holes on it, but it looks like only 1 hole is actually used? Can someone help me??

I have a 2020 model.. Ultima ZT1 50" deck.. I've purchased a drive belt & deck belt .. the issue I'm having started just a couple days ago w/old belt.. doing Exact same thing with new belt.. I've installed new belt..
Just trying to crank it to test steering.. even as I'm turning engine over.. it keeps slinging new belt off also.. WHY????
belt is on pulleys & tension/idle correctly.. yet just begin to spin engine over.. slings belt off & tension Spring Pops off (spring has plenty of tension.. no pulleys are out of alignment or anything.. any guesses as to why belt gets thrown off even spinning engine?.. always comes off drivers side (left if sitting on mower).. I do have deck removed as I put new blades & belt on it.. but deck does not have to be under it for the drive belt to work the transaxle/hydraulic steering.. I'm stumped
Did u ever figure this out I bought one 6months ago and 5 cuts in my belt is also loose and when engine turns over shakes violently it has yet to come off but it's because I haven't use anymore. Idler pulley was loose u tighten that up but issue still persist

That back pulley is a pain in the a** to get to. Also, are the springs on this thing just garbage or what? Why is my new belt so damn loose?
