    Greetings from one of those .8% watching from Denmark! Hope you had a great time in Copenhagen. I've always found it hard shooting here since it's the city I live in and the beauty becomes a bit mundane after seeing it every single day, so it was nice seeing a bit of it through another photographer's eyes

    As a follower for a while now, I have two things: first, you have a really incredible eye for a scene that’s pretty inspiring; second, it’s only just hit me that this is a phenomenal videography channel masquerading (deservedly so) as one for still photography

But I'm getting used to it and there's no doubt it's a very convenient and capable camera. I've taken it on several shoots recently and been very pleased with the results. Another great video thank you. A useful feature you did not mention is the Crop Mode which does provide a useable sensor based crop to change the focal length. On the GRiiix this adds 50mm and 71mm to the default 40mm focal length and on the GRiii adds 35mm and 50mm in addition to the 28mm. Given the 24Mp sensor size, the first crop is quite usable as this reduces the image size from 24MP to about 16MPi

    Nice shots! You seem to be a a true "fusion photographer". I like how take a street photography approach to landscapes and vice versa. Produces some really nice results.
    Regarding that getting a GR in addition to the GRX thing: I went down that road and it didn't go well. Kept confusing the two (despite my clever "left pocket 28, right pocket 40" methodology) and it just didn't feel right. SO sold the 28mm again.

    My biggest perceived knock on the GRIII is the flat color output I've seen from most people that post about them. These are a nice departure from those drab examples, James. I ultimately went with the X100 instead, but these are good to see that the GRIII is capable of more than it looks like based on most samples.

    • @log791
      @log791 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most of the samples out there look bad, I agree. However, I just downloaded a lot of GR IIIx sample pictures from Dpreview, and played with them in Lightroom 5 and Silkypix 6. I was really surprised. They react very well for manipulations, even for extreme manipulations like a few VSCO film simulations. Colors look great. Dynamic range is first class. I suggest you to do the same, and decide for yourself what a GR is capable of.

    James I know you may not exactly be looking for this but with the new lens Nikon released a z30 + the 26mm 2.8 would be an excellent camera and would be similar in every aspect to the ricoh but with weather sealing which I know you have complained about in the past. You could also go for the z50 which has a viewfinder but is still extremely small with that lens. The lens is also able to take filters as well and could be Usable as a video camera for vlogging and such.

    if I need to choose one focal length it would be a 28mm. In fact I’ve decided to strict myself and use only 28mm for at least a year or two. I had multiple cameras, mostly fuji, I sold all of them just yesterday, and kept only ricoh gr3. I mean, how many gear do we really need? as a hobbyist I definitely do not need more then one camera.
