Pulling off dead leaves and keeping the top of the soil clean can help with pest management. Some bugs like to make their home in dead leaves on the soil surface.

I feel so bad when you apologize for your house being messy and talk about struggling to keep up with your plants. Being a work from home mom is sooo tough. Just remember, even when you feel your worst, to your son, you’re always perfect!

Dont feel bad about talking about how you're feeling! I think it helps us remember were all human and not everything is great all the time. With that being said I hope it gets easier soon and you find some me time more often.
I think rehoming some of them is a great idea. Plants are supposed to bring joy, not anxiety.
That touched me too. Last year before I found plants again, I was very lost. I still am at times. I have found doing something for me. No house, kids, plant for 10 20 or 30 mins helps. Or option one is strangle someone!!

I just think you are awesome Harli G! The tone of this video was very relaxed and friendly. Like we came over for tea and got the big tour and some girl talk. The feelings you expressed are quite common for mothers of young children...I remember feeling like I barely had time to take a shower let alone care for plants, pets and children. I was basically on a 20year "no buy" with my plants. I had about 25-30 species when my son was born. Felt like that was more than enough for the time. Glad thats over...haha! I loved the idea of get togethers or plant swaps. I actually teared up thinking how much I would love to spend some time hanging out with you and the other plant folks. I just love how genuine you seem to be. Happy Growing!

Yes, the first year being a mom was so hard, it was overwhelming and I definitely couldn’t just be me. Everything has changed. It’s a huge adjustment. ❤️
"I'm not sad, I just don't have time or energy to do me" This is such a mood, sometimes doing one thing for myself like putting on makeup or even a relaxing bath seems impossible.
Same with the dead leaves pulling off! My satisfaction is usually abruptly interrupted when I try these with maranta/calathea leaves for some reason 🤣 I always tug and then end up needing scissors

I have 3 kids, 2 of them are under 2 years old. GIRL I FELT THAT. I dont even remember the last time I was home alone... I love my plants, I only have like 15 so I can't imagine 400 plants, animals, and a baby. But I honestly relate so much. It's nice to see the struggle is real for others too, and that I'm not crazy.

I have a home office so I work with my dogs and kids and my youngest (now 4) has been here w me every day of her life and I get what you’re saying completely about not always being YOU. I think it’s great that you touched on it. More people need to know that it’s normal and we’re not alone in that feeling.

Love this video! Makes me feel like I'm doing something right with my plants. Being a mom to two little boys sometimes my plants get neglected also. The way you water the plants in baby's room reminds me on how I water. I have a small watering can and the walking back and forth to the sink helps just de-stress and do something for me. If I have one of those orbs I don't think I would want to do anything but stair at it in my down time.

Hi Harli! It was fun hanging out with you while you did some chores. Your propagation boxes are awesome! Sometimes I wish I had room to do that. I usually just start Pothos and Philodendrons in water. With all you've got going it's understandable to not always get things done.
