1) Can you undervolt or overlock or increase the TDP limits on the CPU and/or GPU? Like what settings are adjustable in Intel XTU or ThrottleStop? Does MSI Afterburner work and allow you to change GPU frequencies up or down or TDP? You really should include in your videos screenshots or a short demo of what you can do in those programs. It would be nice if you could at least include a chart showing CPU/GPU frequencies, wTDP, and thermals! That would be sooooo helpful! 2) I have an older Acer Spin 5 and the laptop HDMI out is only off the IGPU which is ridiculous. On this HP x360 does the HMDI and TB DP run off of the RTX4050?
Nice PC overall. Camera is very good and mics sounded good. Speakers were very good and marginally better than the 14 in unit although both were very good. The HP Spectre in previous years came with the pen and the leather sleeve which this year's does not. That is one of the things that set the Spectre line above other brands. This year they took that out. Also they replaced the barrel pin charging with USB-C charging. This is okay but they should have added another USB-C port to accomodate this. Now you only have one USB-C port available when charging instead of two. Also does not include the SD adapter that was there in previous years' models. I think HP has their heads screwed on backwards when making these changes. Performance on this is good for most day to day tasks. Keyboard layout is excellent although a numpad option would be nice. With those units supplied with dongles it should include one with an SD card reader at least. Trackpad is spacious. Overall a nice PC although I think they need to go back to the drawing board and make some design changes I mentioned above. Great review as always,.
Great Video, nice detailed review. Its a very good laptop, I have been using Spectre 360 from last 2 years and thinking of getting this one now for more power and RAM.

The 14 inch model also comes with WiFi 6E… WiFi 7 is an upgrade ($$$). HP just gave TH-camrs the upper end making us, the viewers, think that is WiFi 7 by default and they are using you for that. They did not told any TH-camrs that detail so they can mention it on the videos.
Thanks Andrew. Can't wait for you to get the new Yoga 9i 2 in 1 gen 9 in to put it up against the Spectre 14! That will be an interesting showdown! Very pleased that HP are improving their speakers & webcams, though imo they deserve serious criticism for not having any battery charge limiting options in their consumer models, especially their premium line up. Every other manufacturer now does this except HP: Dell, Razor, Lenovo, Gigabyte, Asus. Only one Im not sure about is MSI.
I wish they used the extra space for a numpad instead of just centering the keyboard, but I guess that's the price of good laptop speakers. A good looking machine in general, and I really like the idea of a huge haptic touchpad.

After watching your MacBook Air 15 review I came here to see how good the alternatives are. When using the MacBook Air microphone with voice isolation activated they sound really good. And with really good I mean I have to listen with headphones to hear a difference to my Elgato Wave usb microphone. The microphones in the x360 sound just like how laptop microphones used to sound. Fine for short calls. Bad for calls all day. Being one of the main use cases for me that’s unfortunately an instant disqualification for me. Any alternatives in the Windows world with equally good microphones and speakers as the MacBooks?
Do you make sure you set the laptop to performance mode in windows and not on blended or battery saver? If you don't you can get goofy fluctuations in performance like that.
There is something wrong ,I'm just confused even though the laptop have big battery than the Samsung book 4 ultra ,and they have the same screen the same specifications, but the Hp has battery life it's more bad, can some body tell me why !!!?
does this support being power via normal us PD like 100w or 140w usb chargers? or are you forced to use hp only usb charger? if the latter thats a major deal breaker Also what ports are the power ports? Is it one of the TB4 ports or the other one? or multiple ports?
I see there is no version with Intel Core Ultra 9 processor. Will this be released - not sure how the performance over 7 will be though. I am planning for 16" version with 32GB / 1TB to run mainly 3D modelling (CATIA, etc).
Are we expecting better batery life from these meteor lake laptops as intel does bios updates or this is basicly what we should keep expecting ? Not that it is bad, but not a big gap from 13U models
Hi, could you kindly tell me if the SSD can be changed? and please the precise name of the model and how much read/write speed it has, I saw on the official website that it is TLC and it worried me a bit that it might be slow, would you be very kind if you give me this info thanks
Hi Andrew, wondering if you have possibly had a chance to check out this laptop but with the IPS screen and the Intel Arc. Basically, wondering if the screen is as glossy as this OLED one. Thanks and cheers!
Still no word on the performance bug? Also, does this only affect the dGPU model? Im holding off until we get more info, otherwise I wanted to buy the 16 inch model.
@@Btburkhardt for now Im using a temporary Latitude 7440, i7 1365U 32GB that I bought 'second hand' for 600 bucks; some company dumped it and it has 3Y premium support remaining lol. Im still looking for a laptop that Im going to be happy with; I decided that these Spectres are not my jam; they are too much eye candy and I just want a premium but functional device for mostly software dev and some light games on the side.
I noticed when ordering a 14" yesterday on HP's website, that they label the 512GB and 2TB SSDs as TLC, but the 1TB is NOT labeled TLC. Does anyone know if that's a typo or if it is SLC or MLC instead of TLC and therefore faster?
Unfortunately, this laptop has some negatives which may be a dealbreaker for some. Mainly the soldered RAM, performance issues, weak battery life in comparison to its competition and No Wi-Fi 7! I think All laptops being released this year should have the latest in Wi-Fi Technology. Aside from all the negatives of course are the positives from the gorgeous OLED display, the powerful quad speakers which sound louder than its 14" sibling, etc. People need to weigh the negatives with the positives before deciding on purchasing the 2024 HP Spectre x360 16" 2-in-1. Brilliant review Andrew!! 👍😁
Mine has Wifi 7 but is for a different market, ARC only, 32G, 1TB. Not super impressed with white/light grey consistency. It has some light red/green tints that vary across the display. May not bother many, just not sure how good OLED can be in this.
Hello, i'd like to know if there is any 2 in 1 out there that offers a discrete GPU that is pretty powerfull (at least 4060 with decent Watts) so that it can be seriously used for video editing and stuff like that. I looked and searched but can't find any. This Spectre 16 seems to be the only one with a discrete GPU at all but the performance from that rtx 4050 doesn't even double the performance from the arc integreted graphics in the 14 inch and it's really bad in my opinion (i just send back the 14 inch. I wanted to try a 2 in 1 and i indeed love the laptop and the 2 in 1 form factor but the 14 with arc graphics was AWFULL at video EDITING. It got DESTROYED by my 2 year old Pavilion 14 plus (i7 1255u and rtx 2050) and a 4 year old MC book air m1 (with 8go of RAM) . ALL of the 2 in 1 are turned for low fan noise and no heat so less power and it kinda makes sense since you're supposed to use it as a tablet but still. Even with no budget limit i just can't find a powerfull one ! Thank you in advance for the response. I Enjoyed watching your review btw !
Just to add to it, the reason i want a 2 in 1 is to have a Pen with the laptop. I will really make use of it, so if anyone answers my comment, please take that into account. And if ever you recommand a device, please let it be one with a pen ✍️ thank you 🫶. (idc if i have to buy the pen seperatly as long as the laptop can recognize it and works with it)
Have you looked at the Microsoft Surface Suite laptop? I believe it has the specs you're looking for. Significantly more expensive with these same specs, though.
Just bought the 14" OLED w/32Gb 1Tb for $1257 on HP website. HP has a AAA discount and has $350 price break. Plus you get pen. No dongles. Have to wait 1 month.
This is a 360 laptop, with a touch screen, clean and light design, amazing camera, great performance and battery life. For work, study and personal usage it's a great laptop. If you need better performance at a lower or the same price, then you will get worse amount on features and worse quality of other specs

Probably buggy firmware. HP has to cook an update.
Yes I believe you are correct
@@LucaPocchia
I hope so 🙏❤️
@@travel7217 I hope too, cause I've bought it
does this support being power via normal us PD like 100w or 140w usb chargers? or are you forced to use hp only usb charger? if the latter thats a major deal breaker
Also what ports are the power ports? Is it one of the TB4 ports or the other one? or multiple ports?
I see there is no version with Intel Core Ultra 9 processor. Will this be released - not sure how the performance over 7 will be though. I am planning for 16" version with 32GB / 1TB to run mainly 3D modelling (CATIA, etc).
Great review! Would you compare the keyboard and overall typing experience to that of an HP EliteBook in terms of quality and premium feel?
Yes, this keyboard is excellent and one of my favorites.
Are we expecting better batery life from these meteor lake laptops as intel does bios updates or this is basicly what we should keep expecting ? Not that it is bad, but not a big gap from 13U models
nice review!
Thanks!
I am considering buying this laptop. Can someone please tell me if it supports a 4TB SSD upgrade?
Still no word on the performance bug? Also, does this only affect the dGPU model? Im holding off until we get more info, otherwise I wanted to buy the 16 inch model.
What’d you decide?
@@Btburkhardt for now Im using a temporary Latitude 7440, i7 1365U 32GB that I bought 'second hand' for 600 bucks; some company dumped it and it has 3Y premium support remaining lol. Im still looking for a laptop that Im going to be happy with; I decided that these Spectres are not my jam; they are too much eye candy and I just want a premium but functional device for mostly software dev and some light games on the side.
what is is note taking program??
@@Vladislav-vq7pxDoes your version actually use an Oled panel?
MSI summit evo studio
Does it have a finger print sensor??
Yes
Impressive review Andrew, as always
14 In still the King 🫡
What do you think about the 16" model without 4050 inside? In theory it should be the same as 14", only in a 16" larger form factor.
Yes and HP has identified a bug that affected CPU performance so a patch is on the way.
Please can you review Asus ROG 16 Gaming laptop.....
Coming early next week
So ultimately 14" model is far better than the 16" 😮
why?
I know specs aren’t everything, but for the price HP is asking nothing is making sense here.
It’s hard trying to find a 2 and 1 case for this bad boy.
👍👍👍
the prices are stupiditly high
It is new-ish so bound to be but compared to the Dell XPS range, the HP is peanuts!
bro complain a high-end ultrabook
Just bought the 14" OLED w/32Gb 1Tb for $1257 on HP website. HP has a AAA discount and has $350 price break. Plus you get pen. No dongles. Have to wait 1 month.
This is a 360 laptop, with a touch screen, clean and light design, amazing camera, great performance and battery life. For work, study and personal usage it's a great laptop. If you need better performance at a lower or the same price, then you will get worse amount on features and worse quality of other specs
I bought the 14" yesterday w/32Gb 1Tb for $1257. Not cheap but came w/pen for that price through HP
HP is the King of Disappointment
Imho.
There's just something about HP that I just hate it.
Apple, Dell, Lenovo and ASUS are far better imo.
$2300 and cant get 64gb of ram
Best Buy now has it for 1,799 which has 32GB which is more palatable price than $2399. That model has 32GB RAM
