Bios Update F.10 is out. It substantially (>10%) increased power to the GPU/CPU while gaming and heavy loads. Some of us have posted updates on Reddit. Overall, this machine is performing incredibly well. Other than heavy Ray Tracing, it can play any games at high/ultra settings with DLSS/FG at 1200p (1920x1200).

@@andrewmarcdavid Some data points, my GPU power went from 44-45W max sustained to 50-52W max sustained while gaming. My GPU/CPU temps increased by ˜10C. There seems to be at least one new Intel background process running as well (but it may have been the Intel update that happened a couple of days before). The machine still runs relatively quiet with the new power levels, but the right side is substantially hotter now. Really looking forward to your updated video with the deets.

@@leoma95 Can you speak on the battery life? I'm really wanting to purchase this laptop soon, but I've heard worries about the battery performance (83kWh) for this model. If the new BIOS update pushes the CPU and GPU harder, I'm worried that this laptop may not even run a few hours before needing charging

    • @leoma95
      @leoma95 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@GogoXD7 I think the battery life is fine. In fact, I have mine permanently set to Performance mode, even under battery power. Doing general work, watching TH-cam, etc the battery drains about 15%/hour, so good for about 6 hours. On heavy workloads (e.g. gaming) I'm usually plugged in, so I don't care. I could tweak the settings to Balanced, etc and extend battery life to maybe 8 hrs, but I prefer the faster performance. I love the laptop. This is my third x360 and it is by far the best. First Windows laptop that is better than my MacBook Pro.

***UPDATE** I just received word from HP that there has been a bug identified that affects performance in the benchmarks. They will be issuing a patch. I will do an update video once the patch has been released and I can do updated testing. Stay tuned. Also, Best Buy now has it with $400 off so it is now $1799 which is a good price for this unit. Question I am hoping you can answer. Got my laptop yesterday. It’s the i7 processor 32 ram 2TB version. When I installed photoshop it is telling me I only have 2GB dedicated to video and 4GB is recommended. Being new to windows 11 and that this is my first new laptop since 2015, looking for help please. Is this a software or hardware issue. Whatever it is, how do I resolve it? Thanks in advance for the help. Greatly appreciated.

Otherwise, another great review and great jackets as usual! If you have the chance, could you ask HP why they didn't opt for a full size battery on a 16 inch? PS: Man's made me a gloria tells fan 😂

    1) Can you undervolt or overlock or increase the TDP limits on the CPU and/or GPU? Like what settings are adjustable in Intel XTU or ThrottleStop? Does MSI Afterburner work and allow you to change GPU frequencies up or down or TDP?
You really should include in your videos screenshots or a short demo of what you can do in those programs.
It would be nice if you could at least include a chart showing CPU/GPU frequencies, wTDP, and thermals! That would be sooooo helpful!
    2) I have an older Acer Spin 5 and the laptop HDMI out is only off the IGPU which is ridiculous. On this HP x360 does the HMDI and TB DP run off of the RTX4050?

Nice PC overall. Camera is very good and mics sounded good. Speakers were very good and marginally better than the 14 in unit although both were very good. The HP Spectre in previous years came with the pen and the leather sleeve which this year's does not. That is one of the things that set the Spectre line above other brands. This year they took that out. Also they replaced the barrel pin charging with USB-C charging. This is okay but they should have added another USB-C port to accomodate this. Now you only have one USB-C port available when charging instead of two. Also does not include the SD adapter that was there in previous years' models. I think HP has their heads screwed on backwards when making these changes. Performance on this is good for most day to day tasks. Keyboard layout is excellent although a numpad option would be nice. With those units supplied with dongles it should include one with an SD card reader at least. Trackpad is spacious. Overall a nice PC although I think they need to go back to the drawing board and make some design changes I mentioned above. Great review as always,.

Thank you! Really appreciate your thorough reviews. I think the only thing that might be more helpful to most users is if you threw a little more descriptive info in there for users who aren’t computer geeks. I have a programming background and understand all the CPU performance, etc., but watching with a friends and explaining stuff, just makes me think of you added some, “CPU performance which means you’ll boot up quicker/slower….”, -or- “Having so little memory will affect…”, -or- “The screen resolution of ab OLED monitor might be great for… vs …..”, these things explained a little more for people newer to computers, I think would really be helpful to people, and you don’t need to change much…. Your reviews and videos are awesome, thorough, and very informative; also very easy to understand… just add a little more ‘lame person friendly’ explanations as you’re going along, and your videos are PERFECT!
Really do appreciate you taking the time to do these reviews and love the side by side comparisons, as well… helped me make my choice!! Thanks soooo much! 😊

And with really good I mean I have to listen with headphones to hear a difference to my Elgato Wave usb microphone. The microphones in the x360 sound just like how laptop microphones used to sound. Fine for short calls. Bad for calls all day. Being one of the main use cases for me that’s unfortunately an instant disqualification for me.

Unfortunately, this laptop has some negatives which may be a dealbreaker for some. Mainly the soldered RAM, performance issues, weak battery life in comparison to its competition and No Wi-Fi 7! I think All laptops being released this year should have the latest in Wi-Fi Technology. Aside from all the negatives of course are the positives from the gorgeous OLED display, the powerful quad speakers which sound louder than its 14" sibling, etc. People need to weigh the negatives with the positives before deciding on purchasing the 2024 HP Spectre x360 16" 2-in-1. Hello, i'd like to know if there is any 2 in 1 out there that offers a discrete GPU that is pretty powerfull (at least 4060 with decent Watts) so that it can be seriously used for video editing and stuff like that. I looked and searched but can't find any. This Spectre 16 seems to be the only one with a discrete GPU at all but the performance from that rtx 4050 doesn't even double the performance from the arc integreted graphics in the 14 inch and it's really bad in my opinion (i just send back the 14 inch. I wanted to try a 2 in 1 and i indeed love the laptop and the 2 in 1 form factor but the 14 with arc graphics was AWFULL at video EDITING. It got DESTROYED by my 2 year old Pavilion 14 plus (i7 1255u and rtx 2050) and a 4 year old MC book air m1 (with 8go of RAM) . ALL of the 2 in 1 are turned for low fan noise and no heat so less power and it kinda makes sense since you're supposed to use it as a tablet but still. Even with no budget limit i just can't find a powerfull one ! Thank you in advance for the response.
I Enjoyed watching your review btw !

Just to add to it, the reason i want a 2 in 1 is to have a Pen with the laptop. I will really make use of it, so if anyone answers my comment, please take that into account. And if ever you recommand a device, please let it be one with a pen ✍️ thank you 🫶. (idc if i have to buy the pen seperatly as long as the laptop can recognize it and works with it)

Have you looked at the Microsoft Surface Suite laptop? I believe it has the specs you're looking for. Significantly more expensive with these same specs, though.

What do you think about the 16" model without 4050 inside? In theory it should be the same as 14", only in a 16" larger form factor.

Yes and HP has identified a bug that affected CPU performance so a patch is on the way.

I know specs aren’t everything, but for the price HP is asking nothing is making sense here.

Just bought the 14" OLED w/32Gb 1Tb for $1257 on HP website. HP has a AAA discount and has $350 price break. Plus you get pen. No dongles. Have to wait 1 month.

This is a 360 laptop, with a touch screen, clean and light design, amazing camera, great performance and battery life. For work, study and personal usage it's a great laptop. If you need better performance at a lower or the same price, then you will get worse amount on features and worse quality of other specs

HP is the King of Disappointment
    Imho.
There's just something about HP that I just hate it.
Apple, Dell, Lenovo and ASUS are far better imo.

Best Buy now has it for 1,799 which has 32GB which is more palatable price than $2399. That model has 32GB RAM
