I think it's worth mentioning that the dell XPS starts with 256gb SSD and charges you 300 bucks to upgrade to 512 gb. Similar story with RAM. It's important to hold the same standard that you hold for apple to Dell. Dell also has some very bad price gouging. Spec for spec, the macbook air 13 is 200 dollars cheaper than the xps 13. I'm not saying apple pricing is fair. It's also quite unfair/stingey.
Not to mention it's a horrible laptop with an embarrassing port selection, performance beaten by cheaper laptops, ugly design, bad keyboard, horrible touch row, and one of the worst touchpads I've ever used. Like, I'm struggling to find ANYTHING good about this year's XPS laptops.
@@cameronbosch1213 Yes I agree. The port selection makes the macbook air look like a laptop with a diverse port selection. In additon, although some say it looks good, I think it's a prime case of form of function.
@@cameronbosch1213They are the best because they are small, have good screen options, the best support reach and they great build quality. You trade performance and ports for that. I hope David gets a 2025 14 inch HP Elite book in as I am using one of the latest 2024 models alongside the XPS and it's a good bridge between an XPS and MacBook M4 Pro 14 with matte screen. The port selection on the HP is magnifico.
Great review! I also just watched your reviews for Lenovo slim 7x snapdragon and was surprised not to see it on this best of 2024 list in the snapdragon category which u did not include. I just purchased it and completely agree with your positive review on it. Thank you for your in depth, well researched and presented reviews!
Hi Andrew, It's a very good channel with all reviews. I was just wondering if you could also create review for the best laptops for programmers. Long hours usage, working in diffrent environments, many windows and tabs open etc.. Thank you.
Invaluable video Andrew! This is one of those videos that needs to be watched more than once if anyone out there is looking to purchase a Best laptop of 2024!! Excellent Andrew!! 👏😁
I'm looking for a new laptop for everyday use, watching movies, completing grad school assignments, and producing music with Logic. I purchased a MacBook Air 13 in 2020, and I'm seeking advice on an upgrade. I also own an iPhone, which adds to my considerations for compatibility, although it's not a major concern.
Haptic touchpads aren't always better than a good traditional glass touchpad. The MacBooks have good haptic touchpads. The XPS lineup has really bad haptic touchpads.
shout out for the win max 2, I just love this thing so much along with the mini. Sad that I sold mine since I got a very good deal on the g16. Honestly win max 2 would be so good if you ignore it to be a handheld lol
Hi Andrew, Great list of laptops.. But I also wonder why there no cutting edge tech MSI Laptops are on this list. There are great MSI laptops with Ultra Series 2 Processor , Wifi 7, best 5MP Webcam and 99.9 Wh Battery
Think you came up with a pretty good list for this year. I was thinking about dinging the 16" MacBook Pro M4 Max but having thought about it a bit more I think you're right... Those of us who do work which can actually take advantage of the Max (vs Pro) know who we are - For most people the Pro is already overkill. The lineup I'm happy didn't make your list this year? Dell XPS... They just plain haven't lived up to the high bar set by pre-2020 models (whether it be QA/durability/reliability/engineering issues 2020-2023 or this year's - My opinion - Horrible redesign... I at least want real function keys if I can't have an AMD processor and 17" screen also).
I've just bought an Elitebook 1040 G11 with 32Gb of Ram Oled Screen 2.8k Meteor Lake 155H at about 1500 US Dollars. Terrible mistale??? Should I return it?
agreed with you but skipping the lenovo legion family (slim 5 oled and legion 5 pro, 7 and 7 pro) for gaming is criminal especially from a price to qualite or price to performance ratio.
Slim 5 OLED wasn't updated this year and neither was the Legion Pro 7 (the Pro 7i did get a spec refresh that was so minor it wasn't worth talking about). The Legion 7i this year was good, and a massive improvement over the Legion Slim 7i from last year, but still not great given the low battery life and suboptimal port location.
Your reviews were always most appreciated. This year came with many exciting laptops. The snapdragon captured my attention. I tried some of them, plus a meteor lake & a lunar lake ones. After using them for a few days, I found: Among the snapdragon laptops, MS surface 7 is the best. It worked perfectly with all my printers & scanner (except the old V19 Perfection. The Asus and the HP have terrible keyboards with light bleeding around keys. This caused difficulty to see the keys in low light. The XPS has zillions of background processed. The Lenovo Yoga Slim x would not work with any printers nor scanners. None of them, either snapdragon or intel woule work any better than my old Lenovo Legion with 12th gen I7 processor. Hence, I may end up waiting for next year releases or keep the MS Surface 7 for occasionally playing around.
Thanks Andrew. For 16 inch, i am tied up between zenbook s16 and xps 16. XPS looks stunning with minimial sleek design , but s16 is so thin and light weight . Anything u can add here.
I bought the 2024 G14 in April. It is fan-tas-tic. I use it for work, for gaming and for graphical work for the website of my employer. It's marketed as a gaming laptop, but it's more of an all-in-one, to be honest. It does everything well. Not the best in all categories, but, at least to me, it's just the best on average.
IMO Best 2024 13" laptop is the Pro Art 13 for sure? Cheaper and more powerful similar screen etc etc than the XPS 13, Or if that's too heavy or expensive then the MSI prestige 13 EVO that has just been refreshed with Lunar Lake
@@andrewmarcdavid I looked at the XPS over black Friday with £400 off, still too expensive and little too heavy for 13" for late 2024. 14" ones are same weight , 13" should be closer to 1kg IMO. Looking forward to new Zenbook 13. Hoping this gets lunar lake refresh soon. If MSI can do it...
Thanks for all the hard work. Each deep review usually takes 3-5 days, so 100+ reviews are very taxing. For my needs, the Surface Laptop 7 13.8 inch laptop and Asus Zenbook S 14 Aura edition. Waiting on the price to drop for the X1 Carbon Gen 13 Aura.

What would you say the best laptop is for engineering and running simulations on CAD software and stuff?
honestly if the proart p16 had a haptic trackpad and 120 hz that would have been the best laptop overall imo, otherwise *great* video 👌
