@Sam Adams - Wrong, the first car to use a GT designation was the 1929 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 GT. This car was the true "original GT".
@Sam Adams The doors are the ONLY obvious copy from the Lola. Big deal! The Ford GT otherwise looks very, very different. The Lola was nothing more than an inspiration in making the Ford GT. Absolutely NOT A COPY!

but it is so stupid compare ford to ferrari these days..
the higher trim ford, Ford GT (not even a true production car, just a few of them were made) it can be compared to a mid-low Ferrari trim in term of power and performance (488 Gtb).
are two different worlds, Ferrari makes Sport / Super / Hyper Cars.
Fords made daily cars, muscle cars and 1 super car.
if we want to compare higher trim by higher trim, would you compare a Ford GT to a LaFerrari talking performance? i would not

Yeah. I love the 05 gt. I hear it’s cheap to maintain and reliable. Plus I just love a manual and a v8 or higher. To me the faster car in the world doesn’t matter. I want the funnest car. A great touring car with a manual is my preference. I’m sure the 2018 is still awesome but just not my cup of tea

The original is the only way to go, nothing like a 1960s GT40
It's the most obtainable one for normal people anyway. Superformance GT40s are legitimate GT40s and they're cheaper than the GTs

GT40 is my dream car, has been for years. There is no other car coming close to how the GT40 gives me goosebumps when i hear or see one. Its amazing.

@440x - Oh, I don't know, but the 289 small block Cobra Daytona Coupe sounds as good if not better than the GT 40s, due to the tuned headers and side pipes. Check out the several TH-cam videos on it, particularly at Spa Francorchamps in Belgium. The Daytona really has a bitchin sound. I've heard a couple guys that swear it must be a 427 big block just from the sound.

i had the pleasure of seeing the 2018, a 2006 and the rebuilt GT40 Mario Andretti drove at Le Mans in '67 side by side at last week's Colorado Concours. The Shelby American Museum in Boulder, CO brought them to the show and fired them up, one after the other. The turbo V6 sounded surprisingly good; the old GT40 sounded volcanic. Great vid!

@Mikki - Maybe so, but then again, Ford gave Miles the opportunity of a lifetime to drive the ultimate Le Mans winner, and paid him more than he ever imagined! That's why Miles stayed with Ford until his unfortunate and untimely death.

I remember seeing an original GT-40 at Bob Grossman’s Foreign Car Sales in Nyack, NY in 1970. It was previously raced and for sale. Price...$12,000.

I love how there is no mention of the GT nearly Breaking 300 MPH in the Texas Mile, all be it modified but... Killer.

@Scott JS - There was no mention because it is a modified (heavily) GT. Those Texas Mile runs in super modified cars mean nothing, really. Put 1,000 HP in a Mini Cooper and it will do that easily. So what's the point?

.. and the GT40 floats at speed. The Ford GT took care of that. And if you want 2018 FORD GT HP (and actually a tad more), then you can go with a 2004 GTX1. But aside from that, for me, another great thing about the 2004 Ford GT is that it is RELIABLE. Its reliability and operating costs (higher reliability and MUCH lower operating costs compared to other "super cars") are outstanding!
I would take the 2005. The Replica GT40 is too raw and the 2018 is too digital. The 2005 is just right.

Ford GT is literally a dream car of mine. First time I saw it I was completely drawn to it. Unfortunately I won't be able to obtain a car like this. Way to expensive to get. I guess I can only wish.

All three cars are beautiful, but if I had to choose, I'd take the 2005 GT but I'd have it in the heritage edition gulf colours of course.

Looks like CA HWY 74, Ortega Highway above Lake Perris on the way to Palm Springs. Likely South Main drive, an offshoot right above the lake.

I love it when a reviewer attempts to flaw the V6 twin turbo choice for the new Ford GT. All vehicles have to be in the upper revolutions per minute range to produce maximum acceleration. The new Ford GT has an anti-lag system that ELIMINATES turbo lag. Also, a dual turbo set up, like this twin turbo system, drastically reduces turbo lag in and of itself. I prefer the 05',06' generation Ford GT, but I do not think bias should ever be part of a review. The new Ford GT is a collectible not meant for modification, but the older model is designed to be modified. The Ricardo 6 speed manual transmission can handle speeds into the 290 mile per hour range stock, and the suspension on that model year can handle speeds into the 270 mile per hour range. It is an overbuilt potential tuner car, but absolutely fantastic stock as well. I'd own both if I could, but I prefer the previous generation to the new one.
2nd gen best looking. And the fact that it's a stick shift makes it my choice.
The Superformance GT40 is a continuation vin replica it's as close as you can get to the original. Parts also cross over to the original.
The 1996 and 1997 Le Mans' were won by the same Porshce, so the GT40 is not the only car to hold that distinction.

Anthony drake Porsche won it 7 times in a row from 1981 to 1987, from 1982 to 1985 in that period Porsche won it with the same car the porsche 956

Glad they finally fixed that flawed door design. Great car, don’t get me wrong. But it’s nearly impossible to get into the older Gt’s when they’re parked next to other cars because of its door design lol.
@Fotosynthesis858 - The original door design was actually a plus for quick entry by the driver, in racing conditions. That's exactly why it was designed that way. Unfortunately, it was an obstacle for street versions for the reason you mentioned.

is almost as good as house buying, i paid 400gs for my house 13 years ago. 10 years later with 300gs still owing to the bank, sold it for 1.4mil. paid off the bank, moved 70 miles away and bought just as nice a place for 400gs again. no banking needed. doubt any bank would lend me money to do that with a car tho, even a gt40
I'm not a fan of the 2018 look. The '05 and OG models are the best looking cars ever made. It's a perfect blend of classic car and modern looks.
This guy said The Mkl GT40 won Le Mans twice. It was the Mkll though
MkII won once in 1966, MkIV won once in 1967, Mk1 won twice 1968 and 1969, and it was actually the same car that won those two years.
@@unihillboulder Privateers ran the Mk1 GT40 in 1968 & 1969 after the factory dropped out of entering their own cars. The rules were changed to exclude the 427 MK IV after it beat everyone in sight. After that many years of investment, it was a good time for the factory to move on... but there were a couple of well supported private teams that carried on quite well for a while.
