The fire paan is a variation of smoky clove paan which is taken in many parts of Eastern India. In this case after the paan cone is folded, one or two cloves are pinned onto the paan cone and the bud top part of the clove is set aflame.. The flame quickly dissipates giving out thick white intense smoky clove fumes. It is quickly put inside the mouth so that the smoky clove essence is mixed with that of the rest of the paan giving a unique flavour.
The fire paan shown in the video has a whitish semi crystalline powder which is set on fire . It would be either peppermint crystals or camphor or a combination of both which would give intense minty flavour when chewed. The fire must be doused off so that enough smoke generates inside mouth or it will be chewing plain peppermint which has a strong bitter taste.

No offence to anyone; I'd say when it comes to fish or alike (no matter whether it's fresh water or sea ones) you should visit South India or west bengal ( including odisha).

When you have been cooking for a decade or more you lose the sense of heat in your finger tips. And the wetting your hand throughout the process of cooking also helps.

I don't think fire paan it self can cause much damage in mouth as the fire dies when it gets stuffed in the mouth, but it might not be good esp if you have cavity on your teeth. The riskier part about fire paan is the hand that serves it. Yuk

Don't try this but it's basic science when your hand is soaked in oil at room temperature, the hot boiling oil doesn't hurt the skin as it takes some time to heat the colder layer of oil.

I have seen people have Fire Paan and it always scares me. I love Paan and I have tried a few different flavors. I have even tried Paan flavored Ice cream(few of my friends don't like it, but I dig the flavor). But Paan literally on Fire just seems like one of those things I put under the bucket of "Never try it" 😂Falooda is pretty tasty. Before I got on a diet, my family used to go out for Lunch on every Sunday and after a meal, Falooda as a desert was must. The fact that I can't touch it without my calories skyrocketing hurts me XD.Another thing under the "Never Try it" bucket would be sticking my hand in hot oil.. Noo God. I have gotten a few nasty burns from a drop of oil that fell on my skin and it pretty much melted my skin. Thankfully it was only a drop. Still hurt like hell.
I used to think my mouth will be burned.😂😂 Finally tried it. You'll find no trace of fire, just the paan becomes mildly warm and you'll have a very vivid flavour of camphor.
The South indian falooda is way different than the north Indian ones and more hygiene.
Handkerchief Naan is called Rumaali Roti
Secret is citrus, if you cover your hand using fresh lime juice then you can touch boiling oil for only few second 😉

These are not traditional Betel leave eating procedures. All these are modified. Traditional Paan (Betel leave) is good for digestion of food. But betel leaves should be free from all tabacco content. Paan must have little bit lime, senegal catechu or Acacia catech, feenel seed, cardamon , Rose Petal jam etc. These are good for health. Some time consumable natural camphore is also used. 😊😊😊😊😊😊
