      Apparently it does. Oh well the board it's replacing is the B550 vision-D which is getting really expensive and hard to find. I wouldn't recommend a B550 Master to anyone who wants to OC. The B550-E is similar in features to the Taichi but the Taichi is better equipped for RAM OC.

      @@mainly_dyutish9 yeah I'm agreeing with you. I made a mistake about how many M.2s it has. I'm just also explaining why I wouldn't remove the board from the list anyway since there aren't really any better alternatives to the B550 Taichi.

      @@ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking Taichi has consistent issues with mem even on the new topology. I’ve worked with about a half dozen people on OC discord who’ve had extreme difficulty with the board. The only thing I didn’t extensively test regarding the issues was termination, namely the ODT impedance. Assuming that wasn’t the cause of the issues, I’m personally hesitant to recommend the board for memory OC.

    I have the "avoid" B450 Gaming F from Asus and it's running 2000 FCLK on the 5600X quite ok, I just had to bump the four voltages that dram calculator recommends you use, and just a tad over that recommended value for three of them. I did experience some USB reconnecting issues like Ryzen does, like you said that is unstable infinity fabric, so I bumped up those four voltages and now it's running ok. No memory errors on 4000 CL 16, overclocked 3200 CL14 Flare X. I could not get CL 14 to work on 4000 yet. Thanks for creating this channel, I have learned a lot from it. Good luck with your XOC endeavors! I am currently building a custom water loop for the 5600X. Why? Because I want to overclock the snot out of it, and maybe get a 5800X in the future.

      Similar issue on the b550 Taichi: Tried 4x 16gb gskill 3600 cl 16 (b-die) sticks and was not even able to run them at 1600:3200. Would have needed to go down to 1500:3000 so I returned them and went with 2x 16 gb gskill 3600 cl 14. That works flawless. 4x sticks seems to be too hard for most b550/x570 boards.

    10:01 On the ASRock X570 Taichi board, I believe the 3rd m.2 only shares PCIe lanes with the bottom PCIe x4 slot, so you should be able to run 8 SATA drives and 3 m.2s if you wanted, and give up the bottom PCIe slot (if I'm reading the manual correctly. ASRock doesn't have a nice storage compatibility chart like gigabyte or ASUS).

    Unfortunately my 5900x is limited to 1866fclk, so I ended up selling my 2x16 b-die and getting that 2x32 rev b ballistix kit... it was basically an even trade for double the capacity. They both run 3733 cl14 and while the timings don't generally play as nice, it's really not that big of a deficit. Highly recommended for anyone looking for higher capacities.

      just understand that he's competitive overclock biased not quite daily driven focused, you will 100% crash and all the time if you try high frequency memory clocks and overclocking costs too much in power on a 5950x I own a 5950x and owned previously a threadripper 3960x, even If I managed to overclock it constantly switching between games, video encoding, work, idle surfing watching movies etc.. it will crash and hardcore, it's not blue screen intel, the computer straight shuts down and will corrupt whatever was opened, it destroyed several game saves, something that never happened to me with intel (or ryzen 3000 threadripper now that I think of it) I'm running 3600 like he recommends, on a supposedly 4000Ghz kit I can benchmark at 3800/1900 fine but as soon as I try real use it crashes (it's the transitions between multi core to higher ghz higher voltage single core use that's problematic for me)

An entry-level 2.5GbE switch is about $110-$150, which is kinda pricey still. 10GbE is pricier still - I think that the cheapest is Mikrotik's and you'll need to get 10G SFPs for it, for about $200 or so. Are you sure it's 25Gbit/sec in Switzelrand? Supporting that kind of speed over ethernet requires 40GbE practically, and at that point you're looking at some very pricy and hard to configure hardware (Mikrotik CRS326 and 2 QSFP+ modules will set you back nearly $500, not including the fiber optic cabling, and you need to learn SwitchOS in order to be able to configure it).

    B550 vs. X570 basic differences, as far as I know. For most people, all that PCIe stuff isn't important. Especially if you're just casual Gamer.
    On the other hand, if you need more flexible PCIe Bifurcation with more lanes, > 128GB memory, > 2 memory channels, > 16 cores, and much higher price is acceptable, HEDT class motherboards and CPUs (like Threadripper) might be for you.
    AMD B550 (Q2/2020)
    * Straight to CPU: PCIe 4.0 x4 + x16
    * Chipset Link: PCIe 3.0 x4 (~3.9 GB/s)
    * All other PCIe is maximum 3.0, including NVMe M.2
    * PCIe general purpose lanes: PCIe 3.0 x10 (9.9 GB/s).
    * Cheaper
    * Newer -> possibly better memory OC(?) and newer QVL
    * Much better BCLK Overclocking (even up to ~120 MHz)
    * No Chipset Fan.
    AMD X570 (Q3/2019)
    * Straight to CPU: PCIe 4.0 x4 + x16 (same)
    * Chipset Link: PCIe 4.0 x4 (~7.9 GB/s) (double)
    * All other PCIe & NVMe M.2 can be 4.0. (double)
    * PCIe general purpose lanes: PCIe 4.0 x16 (31.5 GB/s) (triple).
    * No/minimal BCLK Overclocking (~102 MHz)
    * Chipset Fan (almost always), unless it's the new 'X570S'.
    Usually that "x4 + x16" means NVMe M.2 SSD + GPU, both straight to the CPU.
    Rest of the traffic - with few exceptions, depending on your HW - goes via the Chipset: PCIe, NVMe M.2, SATA, USB, LAN, Wi-Fi...
    But it could also be, in the most extreme case I can think of: NVMe M.2 SSD + PCIe Card (in PCIEX16_1) with four NVMe M.2 SSDs in RAID 10 (x4x4x4x4) + a CPU with iGPU (AMD Desktop APU).
    And on top of all that, via the Chipset: the other NVMe M.2 SSD and another NVMe M.2 SSD on a PCIe Card (in PCIEX16_3, because PCIEX16_2 has 0/16 lanes available). So, 7 * NVMe SSD, of which only 2 goes via the Chipset. And on top of all that, 8 * SATA SSD via the Chipset (with or without RAID).
    Or similar thing with a CPU without iGPU + 1-slot GPU (like Nvidia Quadro) in PCIEX16_3, via the Chipset. In case your Motherboard happens to allow such configuration. Like Asus X570-E does, for example. Even though it's called a Gaming Motherboard.
    Well, at least in theory it does... In other words I haven't ever tested anything even close to that. Currently I need to choose either PCIe 4.0 x16 or PCIe 4.0 x8 for my gaming GPU. At least in case of Radeon 5700 XT, it doesn't really matter. But perhaps in the future, with much faster GPU, it does.

    Also as a side-note. I have an x570 Aorus Master because of the PCI-e config and the feature-set. My brother has a B-550 Aorus Master because it was on clearance at Microcenter.
    I was and to get the x570 master very close to the b550 in stable dailyable settings, but I had to do A LOT of tinkering.
    There’s also a weird thing where the performance of the x570 w/ a CPU and 3 m.2 seems to be affected by where you put the USBs at. I wonder if it has anything to do with that USB dropout people talk about. I know with the x570 board, each new BIOS released seems to either keep things the same or make them better. Which is counter to what you’ve said in the past, but I’m assuming it’s just an exception.
    M.2s are really popular for people like me because they’re low-hassle, and you stick it on the board, and it just works kind of deal. No awkward cable management (which gets dicey when you want to populate a fuckton of fanslots). You want a new case, or to run your PC open-air for a bit because you’re busy modding something you’re going to swap out? your drives stay on there.
    It’s weird being on the most enthusiast end of the normie spectrum. On one hand you want performance, but on the other you have to consider other normie stuff
    x570 AoMa has been pretty fucking great.

    hi Buildzoid, I have two sets of Patriot 4400 CL19 kits (cause they're so cheap!) to run with a 5950x. I understand running xmp is a no-go, but what frequency and timings should I be aiming for?
    Edit question: How badly does my Asus x570-F (yea I know it's a dumb board but it came through a bundle deal) hinder me tightening the timings?

    • @parawm4585
      @parawm4585 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also have 2 of these kits. I have them running 3800 CL14 at 1.49v on a Tomahawk X570. Any higher gives WHEA errors. If you can boot 3800 and are WHEA free (try it at CL18 first to check if it boots and if you're WHEA free) that will likely be the max. I had to buy another set and bin the sticks to do CL14 though, initially one stick was holding me back at 3800 CL16 for the set of 4. Sold the two worst sticks. Individually all the sticks I kept do 4400 CL16 at 1.5v, but as a set its max 4200. But thats with FCLK/BLCK not 1:1 (just wanted to check). Shame we cant do FCLK 2000 1:1 on Zen3 right :(((. Thats why I bought these sticks initially last november when Zen3 came out. I even had 3 different 5900X CPU's and one 5800X in my board to check if I could run higher FCLK. All failed at exactly the same point of 1900 FCLK. Starting to think its the board (bios/agesa/X570) and not the CPU's Infinity fabric......

    All the x570/b550 aorus master boards seem to have a bunch of reviews saying it just dies some day, on newegg and amazon. Seems very worrying to me considering no other board seems to have that issue but somehow this one board does in both chipset variants.
    B550 Taichi is also just a better AND cheaper X570 Taichi. Better blck b550 ocing, better PWM controller, better mosfets, 2 addition soc stages, displayport (two points making it better as a apu board), 2.5Gb (like you said), additional usb3 header, additional fan header, and additional 5v rgb header. X570 Taichi, and all of asrock's other x570 don't seem to have newer revisions, or at least they're completely unlabeled and there's no way to tell them apart besides looking up the traces. There's not much reason to get the X570 taichi when the b550 taichi exists, unless those pcie lanes or that one additional m.2 slot mean a lot to you.

      P.S. As always I left a like as a thanks for all job you doing 😉

    I have a question about ram, so if I want to run the highest lets say at 4000ish and have 4 slots filled ideally what should I go with?

    I've got some experience with two separate MSI B550 Unify (not the Unify-X), and both of them have suffered from very loud VRM coil whine, a quick search shows several forum threads with people complaining about similar issues too, so if you're planning on getting Unify or Unify-X it's probably worth keeping this in mind.
    On the other hand, both Unify and -X versions are deeply discounted right now in the UK (they're about 50 quid cheaper than the B550 Aorus Master as of June 10th) so if you're after a decent deal and are not too bothered by VRM noise, it might be worth picking it up.

      Coil wine in aida test is fun on the X but since running custom bios and turning down edc my board stopped wining but the first run it was like a bee got in the window

    • @DuyLeNguyen
      @DuyLeNguyen 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hannahtimson2526 Yes I have a similar experience with Aida benchmark (memory and cache), it's pretty repeatable & reproducable as well, starting a Memory Copy bench has the coils singing.
      Could you share your EDC settings and maybe more details on your custom BIOS? I've had to tighten the retention screws on the VRM backplate, which helped with the noise a little bit, but didn't eliminate it

    • @DuyLeNguyen
      @DuyLeNguyen 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @ When did I ever say the Unify was bad? The Unify/Unify-X has the most overbuilt VRM of ANY B550 boards from any of the major OEMs. There's no objective 'best' board, do your research regarding price points/features/VRM specs and choose one that best fit your needs. MSI and Asus both makes amazing boards and garbage boards. So does Gigabyte and ASRock.
      TLDR: No such thing as 'best board', go do your own reading, watch some reviews and determine what's best for your own usage, nobody can make that decision for you.

    • @DuyLeNguyen
      @DuyLeNguyen 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @ You are LITERALLY commenting on this video where the VERY FIRST motherboard he's recommending is the MSI B550 Unify-X...

    • @DuyLeNguyen
      @DuyLeNguyen 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @ If you REALLY want to see a well-rounded cross-section of recommendation, watch the summary section of this video th-cam.com/video/VUwjxNEe26I/w-d-xo.html (from 2:05:00 onwards), where he makes multiple recommendations from a range of OEMs, highlighting the feature set/pricing pros/cons of each of his choice.
      I am not really seeing this 'mostly you saw buildzoid recommending Gigabyte motherboard in the B550 series' that you're talking about. He's stated multiple times that the MSI Unify-X is great for VRM/MemOC, Asus TUF for generally well-rounded featureset and price, GB Aorus Master/Asus Crosshair if you have plenty of cash to splash about and don't care about value for price...
      I don't see any overall propensity on him to universally recommend Gigabyte boards over others. He's almost always very clear about the reason he likes a particular board. Actually watch the videos and pick out the factors that is specifically important to you (is it VRM? Memory layout? Rear panel I/O? 5/10GBit ports? M.2 slots?) Pick your poison.

    5950x + Asus WS Pro ACE x570 + 2x32GB Kingston ECC @ 3200Mhz here.. surprised to not see this board on here but.. I read it was a slightly older design or something.. been stable for my needs so far running Ubuntu on the NVME and a Windows SSD swappable on boot up to game.

    My computer will randomly shut off completely with ASUS X570-E Gaming and the 5950X paired with RTX 3090FE. This is with Gskill Neo with Samsung B-Die @3600MHz CAS16(2x16GB) and Seasonic Prime T-850 Titanium. However this will only happen while playing Cyberpunk 2077 or Battlefield V on max @ 4K. For anything else works fine. I’m looking at these videos to see what would be more stable in my case. Learning a lot. Thank you.

    WOW incredibly descriptive, I loved it, More, more, more please. I've been looking for a motherboard and Processor like a Ryzen 7 5800X or (really leaning towards) 5900X. I was seriously looking at ASRock X570 Tiachi. After your review and some insight, I believe MSI MEG B550 UNIFY X might be it if I can find one. I was on the right track for ram and bought G.SKILL Ripjaw V32 GB (2X16) DDR4 3600 but didn't realize the CL was 16 until now hope their ok. P.S. I "Subscribed", "Clicked the Bell" and chose "All" to get every video.

    Had to indeed tinker a lot to make my 4x8 Viper Steels work with my x570 Unify and 5900X.
    The XMP never booted, and FCLK 2000 wouldn't boot until a way later version of AGESA. Passing TM5 stability but with way too many errors.
    They're fine at 3666 14 and/or 3833 16. Still hoping that 4000 will be achievable someday
