I had a negative experience of social media back when myspace was a thing, I consider that early experience a blessing. Because of it the insidiousness of social media was apparent to me long before anyone was talking about algorithms, I have never had (or even been on) Instagram, tick tock or most of these platforms. The problem is we live in a world where you need some of them in order to participate in a deeply flawed society. Most people have made the choice for everyone else, and they have made the objectively wrong choice.

I agree...I used to go into chat rooms and talk to people all over the world in the early 2000s. There was such a stigma to it. It was mostly nerds talking to other nerds. It was a fun place. I grew tired of it after a few years but that's when it became increasingly more mainstream and everyone from jocks to pedos to soccer moms were chatting online. The only things I have now are Facebook that I look at around once a month and a YT account. My husband goes a step further and has no social media apps. Since i started my MA, ny social media presence has decreased a lot. And i find myself after very few months of less social media persuing girls in real life and finding them extremly attractice rather than comparing them with fake ig models pictures. Women do not better themselves for anyone. It is always men that need to change who they are. Women think up their Pixar Prince and pick the guy who is closest to it. They love that part of you the way you are, and seek to conform what is left to fit their model. None of them though seek to change for anyone, they are perfect just the way they are, and not because that is how we view the ones we like already, but because we are expected to like them as they are, and they're not expected to return the favor. We don't have any Pixar Princesses neither ladies, nor do we try conforming those we like to fit our images of them. It's never about us and what we want, it's always about THEM and what THEY want.

Since i started my MA, ny social media presence has decreased a lot.
