- Is buying a Ford F150 Raptor a big mistake for UK roads? Today we're at Deranged looking at the first stages of our Ford pickup custom build and while we look at Jason's awesome car collection I'm seriously considering a Ford F150 Raptor but, is it literally a BIG mistake!?

American here, born in the south and living in Texas. LOOOVE your channel, but I have to say, it's absolutely adorable that you guys across the pond think that a Raptor is giant.
Haha. Yep. I’m also in Texas and have a lifted F-250 Platinum Powerstroke on 37s. It makes the Raptor look tiny. James is a dude though. 🤘🏼
Pickups have gotten to big , I have a 2003 Ranger and that's the perfect size . And weighing only 3,100 pounds makes 220 HP all kinds of fun .

Because compared to our roads, parking spaces & most standard sized European cars it's a monster. 😆

Wheels and tires, terrible choice imho...but hey, do your own thing, fine by me. 17s stock are perfect. 18s for aftermarket brake kit maybe. But that's it.

I've owned trucks my whole life, In Canada, and never though of an F150 as big. But yeah I hate driving them in the city. The work these guys do is impressive!
I love how he thinks that a raptor is massive and that’s only a 1500 and 2500 and 3500s are way bigger
Actually the F250/350 uses the same cab on the F150, of course the frame is different and generally the configurations are longer. But the Raptor is huge in that it's wide, wider than any Superduty Ford if you don't include side mirrors, just the body.
thickness. also keep in mind more raptor owners are going to be moving at high speeds and having fun not towing.

@@gpaje The Raptor is only wider than SRW Superduty trucks. DRW Superduty are 10 inches wider than the Raptor.
Depending on where you are in America (especially predominantly farming areas) a raptor could be the smallest truck you see. I do wish I could get Recaro seats on a ranger here in the US (a ranger is in the running for my next vehicle depending on trim lvl and if I fit in it)

@Saad Malik I'm pretty sure no one is saying trucks are abominations, I think that some of the mods that people do are abominations. Especially for the ones that never leave the road.

@@bentonstaffel2471 Yeah, as in modified. I don't think anyone would consider the raptor a "Midwest truck". Idk what to tell you though, I didn't make the original comment but I read it as all the lifted trucks with mudding tires that may or may not go off road that would make a stock raptor seem tiny

You have got to buy a US pickup James, I'm partial to the RAM TRX S/Charged V8 and 1500 Longhorn edition. Love the ram box option on the outside of the tray for these, so practical. Would have one over any Rangerover etc.

I drove one two ways across the Simpson Desert in Oz. A truly awesome vehicle in std trim. Cool in the city, awesome in the sand, but not a sharp edged rock climber.
I would love seeing you drive that Blue Raptor 😎 it's really dope. But would color those overfenders too in Blue + another rugg metal bar as frontbumper

James - top tip from a Ranger owner - get the speakers upgraded as the standard sound system is useless! As they have your door cards and seats out it will be a very easy upgrade :-)
Mr. JWW if you get F150 Raptor keep it stock except for these tyre and wheel sizes; a more utilitarian size of 285/75r17(17×8 or 17x7.5) with a 3 peak snowflake rated All-Terrian like the Yokohama Geolander A/T G015, the 285 width tyre will be better for winter travel on the pavement and a full diameter and width 35x12.5r17(315/70r17 is 34.4 inches and the BFG KO2 and KM3 are smaller than most other brands) Mud Terrian like a Yokohama Geolander MT G003 or X-MT GOO5 for off roading.
I’ve always loved Deranged, now they’re doing Raptors (not Uk version 🤷🏻♂️?) I’d love them to get a Explorer ST and work their magic 😜

I love the Ranger, especially with the wider arches. But seeing a Ranger after the F-150 makes it look so vanilla and ordinary. Love the F-150, I hope the next Ranger looks just like it!
Love the American raptor. Had one on rental and loved it. The cost in the UK is insane though.
I live in bangkok and rangers and raptors are super popular here as they are made in Thailand. You need them here as the roads are so bad and when it floods you need the ground clearance
Got love the ford f150 raptor. V6 twin turbo . Or older guns where v8 supercharged. We just got ranger here in usa 🇺🇸 recently. They quite makeing them here for long time

@@THESLlCK my 2019 raptor read 647 hp on dyno simple ecu tuning + intercooler and cold air filter upgrade .... reading 0-60 miles 4.69sec , twin turbo engine much lighter then supercharged v8.
Sound wise can eat raptor alive but not sure for the performance and style wise
@@monton5440 as if a TRX can't be ECU flashed to almost 1K with no mods at all. Why even bring up tuning?
@@THESLlCK 700 hp from the factory and you are planing to get 300 hp ecu flash ??? Need a genius software engineer to achieve that and all the luck in the world to run 1k mile before blowing up transmission and crank
@@monton5440 unlike the raptor, the dodge is overbuilt from factory. People have been making 825 to the wheels via ECU flash on hellcat engines for 5 years now.

It's worth it You can go on offroad trips and capture drone shots drift the truck in snow and obviously test the top speed of it.

I've got almost 100k on my gen2 Raptor.. it's nature's perfect vehicle. maybe not in the UK but in the USA it's great.

Tyres look like they won't clear the "fenders". Or is travel restricted? Arms short for them to swivel inward a lot?
Pickups really are underrated in the Uk, the big ones never really caught on
No one wants to drive around with a pool of water in the back
They’re just too big, even a mid sized pickup such a Navara (which is as big as it gets in the U.K. tbh) can barely fit down some of the lanes.
@@PixelledCheese the beds do drain pretty well and if you need a dry bed you add a cap or tonneau.

Horrendous wheels? It's obvious you are completely clueless when it comes to style. Those wheels are awesome with a nice spoke design, clean color, and epic concavity. Obviously, wheels sticking out past the fenders are not for everyone, but it's the popular trend in truck culture. You probably drive a Subaru and just don't get it.

@@kevinbreese5739 lol. Anyone with half a brain recognizes "horrendous wheels" is directed at size and fitment. Raptor's should have a smaller wheel, bigger tire, and fitment that allows them to go through the long travel motion without contacting fender. If you want the rubberband & bulldog look, don't put it on a Raptor.

If you’ve ever been to the states, you know those types of trucks and LARGER ones are everywhere here. Imagine a “dually” with 2 tires per side at the rear. Talk about wide! So many options for tricking out your truck.

Yes in 2021 it is, the trx is definitely a better option what's even worse is buying the latest one with the twin turbo ecoboost with unchanged power figures

Yes, personally I think they are fugly. Classic v8 defender pickup is where its at, if you can find one for sale!

There is no way a full sized US pickup can handle country roads and many openings between buildings and in parking garages. Gas and vehicle taxes would be nuts.
What type of fog lights are those ??
Agreed on the wheels thing on Raptor. The factory wheels are way better looking and better suited for that off-road Baja truck. Big wheels and low profile tyres are just plain wrong on some applications. The truck of course is fantastic and comes 0fully loaded when equipped with the 802a package. Oh; and the factory Recaro seats are a must have.

Haha, Mr JWW meet the new Ram 1500 TRX. The factory supercharged big hellcat engine with 720 hp. 0-60 in 3.6 sec. Runs with the Lambo Urus and 5mpg if u run it hard. Murica at it's finest.
If you buy the blue one with the horror show wheels, you’ll be top dawg down at the local Starbucks drive through. Great trucks but so not suited to anything but our motorways. 10-15mpg is a good day 😂

With the way Ford built that motor with the cylinder walls being laser etched on and a plastic oil pan that leaks and oh yea it’s direct injection.

Yes, if you are i millionaire you could afford it here in Sweden, firts of all the price is like $130.000, its like 50% more then in the US and then the gas price here in Sweden are 3 times higher then in the US, and the insurance is like $4000 dollar per year.
