Another reason I like this channel. 1. You choose unique books, not the same cookie cutter keys I see over and over on other youtube channels. 2. You give interesting commentary. 3. Golden Age Books are not full proof investments. I lost a good chunk of change selling one. It was my fault though. Sold mine less than a month after another went up on auction. Should have waited.

That Red Hood book is one of my favorite from that run for sure. The killing joke issue set that one as an important key imo.

I don’t understand how that Joker Detective 168 Comics could sell on eBay because Heritage had the physical book in their possession. Confusing

The probability is that modern age rises at a future point - 80s and 90s - quite significant demand gradually building and pannapictagraphic community increasing still.

Here are my thoughts regarding CVA. If I think that the book presents well for the grade and it appeals to me, with or without the CVA sticker, I may be willing to pay more for that book. The CVA sticker is a nice "confirmation" about my decision. But I won't automatically pay more for a CVA sticker if I don't agree with their assessment.

That CVA sticker is on that GSX1 9.9 and it looks like a 9.8. And how does a 9.9 get a CVA sticker anyway?... Are they saying it looks like a 10? I think its a big sham.

I honestly don't care about CVA stickers, but I know those books tend to go for more than non-CVA books. Personally, I think it's a money-grab. I may start a company that verifies that CVA's verification of CGC's grade is good. lol. 🤣 Too many stickers on slabs nowadays with Metropolis, ComicLink, etc. also putting their stickers on them, not to mention CGC putting "provenance" stickers and stuff on them.

Heritage seems to have lots of stupid customers. Many times I've seen books sell for more on Heritage than what the same book/grade is priced at on ebay/mcs. Or maybe they dont realize there's a buyers premium even though its pretty obvious.

All Golden Age comics are overpriced. Why would anyone pay a month's worth of salary for a flimsy book that took less than a dollar to publish 80 years ago? I'll tell ya why: It's coz hustlers and grifters knows marketing techniques that will make any gullible person stand in awe "Oh my god, that comic is rare? That comic is from 80 years ago? It must cost 10 thousand bucks, right?" Hahahaha! I know a store in Morristown, NJ that sells Golden and even pre Golden age pulps for just 10-15 dollars a copy. What's the name of the store? You have to do some digging and do some research. *wink wink*. Anyway, that's the price of what Golden and pre Golden age books should be. I'll give you a clue: The store's not a comic shop but sells other reading materials.

Sorry that you're not a fan. Showing a lot of great stuff here. Remember that condition is important for these books and yes they are pretty rare.😏

They're not overpriced if that's what people pay for them.

Simple supply and demand. Yes, 80% of comics are worthless. However, the books you are talking about are probably worth $2-$30~. If they can't 5 seconds to look it up, then it's a failing business.
I am willing to bet that they do not have anything worth of any value over $30. They do not have 1939-1956 superhero books from Nedor, DC, Timely, or even MLJ, and I highly doubt they have pre-code horror.

@@Blacksheepcomics I agree with you. It's about supply and demand. Some Golden Age comics such as Action Comics #1 and Detective Comics #27 regularly sell for a fortune because people want to have them. It can be the same thing for Silver Age books that have strong demand such as Amazing Fantasy #15, Fantastic Four #1, and X-Men #1.

Ye old Book store is great, I bought most of the good pulps in April, do they restock? Could not resist $8-$10 Horror and Sci Fi ones.
