- Unlike most people, who would go with the guitar (ahomansia) as their favorite instrument in highlife, my favorite instrument in highlife is the organ and my favorite instrumentalist in highlife history is Ancient Awuah, the organist in the mid-70s iteration of Nana Ampadu’s African Brothers Band (followed closely by Obiba Collins Marfo on guitar and Rim Akandoh on drums).
It is therefore unsurprising that I am a huge fan of Nzema highlife (which usually featured prominent organ playing) and the non-stop organ-driven style of Twi highlife exemplified by Alex Konadu’s early albums, of which this album, Kunkonuhunu, is a great example.
After about a minute and a half of introductory appellations and chanting, this album takes off on a wild organ-fueled rocketship that doesn’t land until the end of Side A. Highlife doesn’t get much better than Wonderful Alex Kwabena Konadu (a.k.a One Man Thousand) and his band when they are in full flight. Enjoy

It's always and wonderful to hear the late great Alex Konadu music. Truly one of the greatest Highlife musicians of all time. Many thanks and your contribution to sweet Ghanaian Highlife music.

Konadu was among the best during the’70s.May his soul continue to rest peacefully with our Lord Jesus Christ.

Was Konadu also a guitarist?
Yes; though, as best as I can tell, he was never lead guitarist on any of his band’s albums.
