Fun fact: Fellow TH-camr Michael Franchese is a retired Mafia captain (his movie self is one of the mobsters in the background of this scene) . He's told the story of how he took his future wife to see "Goodfellas" in the theaters and while they were watching the movie his wife asked Michael how accurate is the movie to which he responded, "Oh you know how Hollywood exaggerates things. It was never like that for me." No sooner did he say that to his wife he suddenly hears Ray Liotta as Henry Hill saying, "And this is Michael Franchese". It was at that moment the real Michael Franchese said, "Okay, time to go."
Seth MacFarlane, in Family Guy, voiced Peter Griffin, telling his son, Chris: "In the '90's, Joe Pesci here was supposed to be a really scary bad guy." Chris: "Really?! He's so tiny and pathetic!"🚫😡:😜
Joe Pesci is just amazing as an actor. He can go from a terrifying gangster to a bumbling lawyer to a annoying little weasel in protective custody etc etc
I love this channel. Another amazing set of reactions to a great movie. Could you please do A Few Good Men, Back to the Future and Point Break. Thank you.
As the story goes, an older guy did this to Joe Pesci when he was younger, and it scared him so badly, he never forgot about it, so he suggested to Martin Scorsese that Tommy & Henry mimicked it in the movie😂
Women don’t understand that there is ALWAYS the potential for violence when men are interacting with other men. Say the wrong thing to the wrong person and you might be picking up your teeth once you regain consciousness. Respect is paramount.
Anyone watching this needs to realize that Mob guys hold grudges forever. They can remember slight insults for years. Then, if they ever have an opportunity to hurt you, they will. I am able to remember every little insult going back to grade school.
"how am I funny" was not in the script. Pesci came up with the idea and asked Scorsese if he could do it. Scorsese agreed and kept the camera rolling. If you pay attention you can see Ray Liotta look off camera and fortunately they played it out.
Amazing and Crazy part is that all the actors had a general script, but Joe Pesci started to ad lib. The other actors went along, including the restaurant owners. Most the scene was completely improvised
Actually, no. I believe it was Pesci's idea, well before shooting the scene, and he privately pitched it to Liotta and Scorsese, who loved it. They hammered out the lines with the scriptwriter - but Pesci and Liotta were the only actors in on the "how am I funny?" part - all the others were deliberately kept unaware. I think Scorsese often instructed the secondary actors to always stay in character during a scene, no matter what, because he often liked to encourage a little adlibbing by the leads. So that helped everyone react appropriately, but only the key actors knew Tommy would turn so chillingly intense.
Tommy's so crazy no one at the table knows if he's being funny or an actual psyco. They just know he can switch in a millisecond over any .perceived slight...
How ironic that most of the guys reacting are enjoying the characters saying f**k so much at each other, while the girls are either turned off or simply respond with, “Geez, they really like that word.”.
Being half Italian and growing up near a connected coffee bar that my HS friend worked at, i never understood why hang a rounds & wannabee's (often with their own successful legitimate careers) enjoyed spend time drinking & playing cards near these people.
