I bet! I have always been fascinated by the paint/clear coat polishing process. Once my friend shared his technique I was so excited to try it out. I find it as close to the real thing as possible.
Way cool there BG this is a really good learning tool for the how too I am enjoying this video for sure cant wait to se the next part thank you sir for this so here for you 🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪
I got to say I'm really enjoying these videos. I had to watch this one twice even though I do more sci-fi you're doing a great job I love it when I can learn something new at my age that is. Thank you.
Good video mate, I had success using a dremal starting out with a wool pad followed by home made foam pads, just doing a single set of passes. I used scholle concepts heavy compound with the wool, then a set of passes with the foam cutting pad, then switched to Megs DA finishing wax using a softer foam pad, no wetsanding needed came up nicely. Paint was Zero paints base followed by Zero 1K.
Awesome!!! This is coming out great and looking forward to the part 3. I’ll have to save these to my watch list to rewatch next time I’m ready for sanding/polishing a body.
Hi Sean! Awesome! This area has been a weak point for me as well. I usually save the body and paint for last, and on most builds, by the time I reach that point, I am so tired I just want it down. 😁
Hi Michael, glad to hear it! 2K clear is a game changers as far as I am concerned..I did two coats. I usually need to. The first coat will always have some sort of lint or fuzz or maybe some orange peel. I will let that set for 48hrs, then wet sand it lightly to even out the coat making sure not to burn through it. Then lay down a second layer.
Just saw this, amazing series of videos for the polishing of 2 K clear coat. Have a question, you said you would not use water for the 6k and 8K sanding process , and you would use the "Speed Shine" instead. Are you still using water now on these 6k and 8k sanding sheets or is that the Speed shine, just wanted you to clarify. ty again, awesome videos and way of explaining the process.
It looks to me like you do panel lines and sand over them. I have a video im currently making of a build. My panel lines bleed so bad. It so frustrating, do you have any thoughts?
Are we talking about the panel lines like the doors and truck? If so. I try to sand and buff near them but not over them. That's where the paint and clear are the thinnest.
Speed shine is a product sort of designed to use as a quick way to give your car a last minute polish before a car show. It's almost like a liquid wax.
I was wondering why I got so much orange peel to begin with using the 2k. I wonder about modellers who are able to spray clear coat and never have to polish. Witchcraft?
I thought that also, but it turns out that sometimes the temp can be too high so the 2K clear doesn't have time to flow and self level before it flashes off and starts to cure. I sometimes add a little bit of thinner to help reduce the curing time of the clear coat.
Brings me back to my body shop days. Thanks for posting.

Hi Deen, my pleasure my friend! I had hesitated making these, I felt there were so many "How To" videos out there. Glad you are liking it!! 🍪🍪🍪

Very welcome Alan! ☺️
Nice tutorial, enjoyed watching the transformation from haze to shiny buff. Nice micro Dremel tool, I only have the standard one.
Hi David, thank you my friend! I feel you can still use that as long as it is possible to adjust the speed! ☺️
Brilliant 2nd part learning a lot thanks for doing this
Hi Martin! Awesome, I am so glad to hear that!! 😁

Great tutorial video Bryan ❤
Thank you Shawn!! I went back and forth about making these. Glad I did!
@BGsModelWorkshop I'm glad you did Bryan ❤️
Thanks, nice channel
Thank you so much!!!
Great demonstration! I never realize that when I polish, im missing the first 4 steps. Is that why I end up with an insane amount of gloss?
I think I might write the grit on the backs of the smaller pieces with a Sharpie
Great idea. I swear, once those get used, they all feel the same!!
@BGsModelWorkshop I have a set that came in different colors for each grit and I STILL have to refer to the chart!
I was able to fine the 3m sponge your using in 8000 grit from Amazon. 3m 3000, 5000, 8000 then polish and you have a perfect finish
Awesome!!!
👍👍👌👌
You were waffling on?🤣

Very informative videos. I just acquired some 2K clear. How many coats did you apply? Thanks

Oh yah, I forgot to ask. Does this process work over decals?
If the decals have been clear coated. Otherwise it will ruin them.
@@BGsModelWorkshop thank you😀
What exactly is speed shine ?
Speed shine is a product sort of designed to use as a quick way to give your car a last minute polish before a car show. It's almost like a liquid wax.
Did you use the Splash 2k clear?
Hi Ken, as a matter of fact I did. ☺️
Your "speed shine", is that just regular speed shine?
Yep! Mine is from Griot's but other brands have a similar product.
@@BGsModelWorkshop Perfect, have some in the trunk of the Mustang. Thought it was the same...and it does have a weird smell
THanks
@@4trialsin awesome!!! I love that smell 😁
