To me, her magic is that she doesn't sing to the camera or even to the audience, but rather takes you away with her into the story she is telling. This one just knocks me out. Love her!
This was Bernadette in her prime. Incredible. Impeccable. I love and adore her. I saw her in concert many times in the late 1970's and early 1980's. Perfection every time. And lord almighty, she was simply gorgeous.
💝 Staying at home with my elderly matter. Crazy Corona times. Enjoying this uplifting performance. Looking forward to the post-Corona era. One more day! Keep safe everybody! 💝
Joan Rivers was hosting it she was promoting her first pop album Bernadette 5 minutes into the interview Joan Rivers says oh that's such a great song I'm still crying I'll never forget that. the song was written by Lesley Gore and it's on her love me by name album but I prefer Bernadette's
you should check out Bernadette in Song and Dance a 1 woman musical that she won the Tony Award for..her storytelling is wonderful on that recording and similar to this song.
I agree Carson showed more of her voice but this is beautiful with the tears and the orchestra was pretty. She gets emotional I love that about her she feels the songs
@lynnlRDR-RDR2 I agree with you. I absolutely loved the way she sang with the orchestra. And when she sang with so much emotion to the words she sang in the song.I Was lucky Enough to get to watch her sing this beautiful song in Las Vegas When I was 18 years old the day after I got married, In June of 1979. I was lucky enough to get to see Bernadette sing this lovely song. I did not know much about life at that age. But by the time she was finished singing this beautiful song, Other Lady, I was holding back my own tears.I I'm 63 years old now and I feel so very lucky to have seen her singing this beautiful song at the Rivera Hotel in Las Vegas. The day after my husband and I got married!!❤❤

A song from the show "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" brought me here, Rachel Bloom stated this was its influence. I can absoluty see it. Beautiful.
This stops me in my tracks every time. What a lady.
She performed this on the tonight show and tore the house down. Love this lady!
I agree, I remember that, had to be 1980-81, wish I could see that performance again
i love this performance,so moving so what if she is crying that just shows how she feels to the lyrics of the song.
Esta canción de Lesley Gore es una verdadera joya musical
Wish she still performed this song

This just broke my heart!
Thanks for posting.
she is the greatest!

D: She's crying again.
I never thought much of Bernadette til I heard her sing this with the Boston Pops. LOVE THIS WOMAN !! love this song. i wish it was on a karaoke trak.
Love this song. Originally sung by Lesley Gore who co-wrote it!
A singing AND acting performance on a grand scale. Joan Crawford is said to be able to produce tears on command, "Which eye?". But, while singing?
This is a song that just stops me in my tracks every time I hear it... it is Bernadette's. Lesley Gore could only co-write it.
Her performance on the Carson show with just piano is better. This arrangement is a little bit too overproduced for me.
