Ms.. Peters is so talented that it sometimes seems supernatural. The way she ends this song has always amazed me. She drops her volume to a very low level, with delicate phrasing, yet, she does not lose clarity and each note is brilliantly sustained, and that is so difficult to do, even sitting alone in your room. To be able to do it in a theater filled with thousands of people, including the genius who wrote the song,, and in front of five of the greatest singer/performers Broadway has ever produced is, well, supernatural is the only word that comes to me. Ms. Peters' beautiful eyes were filled with emotion, and Marin Mazzie seemed near tears throughout, for reasons that are now completely understandable. What an enormous loss her death was to the theater. I am glad that we have so many of her wonderful performances, like this one, that we can visit and enjoy, and that we can use to introduce her great talent to new generations. The entire salute was terrific, and these six gifted ladies were the best of the best! Rest in peace, Mr. Sondheim, Ms. Mazzie and Ms. Stritch ...

@trf12567 Two men telling a dirty joke isn't sexual harassment unless directed at someone, but 99% of the time it's fucking disrespectful and degrading. Comedians still perform, they're getting Netflix specials left and right, tours around the world, roles in film & tv. There's no issue of comedy content, but some comedians unprofessionally bring it out to contexts in which that content becomes inappropriate and often uncalled for. You don't bring your work or talk about it outside of work spaces, it makes everyone uncomfortable or confused, especially those who don't understand it.

    • @dasom5395

@trf12567 Only a tiny population of the world give a shit about what the CEO of some social site says. Btw, FB is an USA invention, most people outside of western cultures don't use FB e.g. Korea uses Kakao Talk, China uses WeChat. Americans make a big fucking deal about every word uttered from some politician or big business figure, thinking they run the world. In reality, the rest of the world take a peek at your narcissistic obnoxious chaos and walk off to something of more quality than quantity.

You join them in generalising and defending figures who project insecurities as if the world is ending and take too much enjoyment in making everyone uncomfortable.

But you're somewhere a part of my life

    As the days go by

Where's the day I'll have started forgetting
But I just go on thinking and sweating

In 1970, I fell head over heels in love with someone who couldn't feel the same way I did. The heartbreak was crushing. Even today I still wonder how and where he is.

Bernadette Peters is a treasured artist. What we see/hear in this performance is not unique for her. She has ALWAYS connected on a very personal level with the music and lyrics of the songs she performs. I can remember her walking on ‘cold’ on TV talks shows - over 40 years ago - and filling her performance with life that had me sitting up from my seat.
She is a legend of stage and concerts. One of the Greats. ❤️

@@michaelalvarez_ Nah. She looks like people do and what's wrong with that? This video is old. 2010. She was sixty then and now she's seventy. Had her neck and eyes worked on, dyes her hair. So what? She doesn't sound the same either. Singers lose their pipes. Especially women when their estrogen levels drop. She's got a wobble even here. It's normal. That's how it goes.

Bernadette has the purest whisper singing voice, Audra has ridiculous range, Patty has an unparalleled power voice, Marin has incredible control, Donna is the best character singer and Elaine is just utterly Elaine.

How does Bernadette sit on a stage, watch the others perform, stand up, and just let the emotion flow? It's like going from 0 to 60. There is no chance to warm up or slip into a role. It's just stand up ....and open a vein.

She is a superb actor who happens (amazingly) to be blessed with a monument of a singing voice. The double barrel.
Her vocal technique is astonishing and underrated at large (not by the community that gets it so to say). And, at base, to act - portray character - is unique. No wonder Sondheim gravitated to Peters.

Even if you haven’t realized it, God has sustained you through all of this and will continue. Please know that you are loved so much by our savior Jesus Christ.
