    Nice review as always, I've been emailing Rob at Berd for a week or so and he said these were being introduced this morning. So glad you had a review. I think My Giant Revolt will be wearing a pair of these.

    Awesome video! Glad to see they are actually doing stress tests on the “spokes” and nipples.
    Glad you mentioned the BS with “aero” in gravel when the fat tires defeats the purpose lol

      @GravelCyclist  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hard to believe some of the marketing horse$hit about aero on gravel. I always laugh when you see a fully integrated cockpit, and the rider has a handlebar bag clogging all of it up.

    • @lazlo2511
      @lazlo2511 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      .. forget aero, the extra stiffness the tall walls offer make for an unforgiving ride that makes your fork work harder and puts extra strains on hands etc. Aero gains are for Olympic athletes who seek medals, the rest us are pretenders… you better off practising a new tuck position than shell out cash on 2 second wonder promise…

      So yall are saying these are faster or just-as-fast as say a pair of 303 Frecrest's on a flat gravel road with a headwind? I LOVE Berd and have two sets but I don't know I wish the rims were a little deeper sometimes...Maybe thats just me and my aesthetic eye....

    Berd's are always head turners when you see someone show up with a pair and rightly so.

    I wander how close this UHMWPE is to Dynema? Thats the stuff synthetic wench rope, and braided fishing line are made of. it's 550 lbs breaking strength in 1.8 mm line. Super strong stuff. I think its plenty strong but can be cut. It's really hard to cut though. I'm sure this is similar.

    • @GravelCyclist
      @GravelCyclist  ปีที่แล้ว

      Likely something similar. I don't know if you caught the part in the video where Berd HQ stress a spoke to breaking? The impressive thing there is, the nipple / spoke connection did not break. That is where Berd has a patent.

      Dynema is made of UHMWPE

    Is there a reason there isn’t a specifically road-only wheelset with berd?

      @GravelCyclist  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Perhaps the spokes aren't super aero? You need to pose this question directly to them.

    Nice review. Are the ratchets made using the DT Swiss style now that the patent has expired?

    • @GravelCyclist
      @GravelCyclist  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Pretty certain the ratchet is very similar.

    Lovely stuff… I believe BERD have something with Anotomik which is in your neck of the woods, they use carbon which is “green”
    I wonder how they two would go up against each other?🤔

    • @GravelCyclist
      @GravelCyclist  ปีที่แล้ว

      BERD and Atomik have partnered. Atomik is one of the few wheel builders who knows what they're doing with BERD spokes. I really should visit Atomik HQ in Tampa and record a video... the owner is a good friend.

    Do they work with clincher tires? Just cant handle tubeless, ol stubbornd fart as I am 😂
    And mechanical is my choice for groupset, like to do shopwork as well.
    Best regards

      Hello there, you'll need to ask Berd Spokes this question. However, I would not think for a second to install a tube to get me home, if the tubeless sealant didn't do its job. Good luck!

    They look weird. And cool. And they're hooked. Awesome. And way too expensive for me =(
    I guess I should keep on riding and losing weight in the meantime.

    "The ultimate in bespoke" I love a good (or bad pun).
    Concering these wheels, some people will obviously go around in circles, irritate their nipples and get tired.
    They will get no traction with me.
