Smart option for him is to pull over somewhere quiet once he's safely away, call the police to report it, and say he left the scene because he was afraid of being attacked by the resident. My brother got taught that from his driving instructor, I've always followed that rule, cringe every time someone oncoming has their wheels turned while waiting.

I've done the getting rear ended on the highway thing... almost the exact same way... don't recommend.... have not done the bonnet flyover or the "i'm an idiot" gravel slide out on the side

Sudden changes of mind cause accidents. If you make a mistake keep going and turn back at the next intersection rather than suddenly turning across lanes of traffic.
Yeah and GPS will always help you get to your destination even if you miss a turn or make a mistake. Not the end of the world, take a longer path instead and everyone is safer.
Highly underrated and most apt suggestion. It’s fairly simple isn’t it? Missed your turn, reroute. Wait for the traffic to clear to join in a busy road. Slow down your vehicles at the intersection and roundabouts. Don’t text and drive. Leave one and a half car length space.
The sheer number of uploaders where it may not have been their fault but the entire situation could've been avoided if they'd taken any evasive action at all.
Amazes me how many people on a fast road 80km/h + follow the car in front with less then 1-2 second gap and some of them you can see are on their phone, with no brakes applied until collision.
Should be 2 seconds minimum... 3, if you want extra buffer. Hardly anyone drives to the conditions either, then gets upset when they crash into someone.
i leave plenty of room when on a 80+ and highway (hell even under 70 km areas). the amount of people that cut into that gap however , never ceases to amaze me.

@@waitpu4817 Pretty sure Sammy is talking about the people turning across a stopped lane of traffic, not seeing vehicles (including motorcycles) in the far lane. Lights on the rear won't do much when the people are looking at the front of the vehicle (or can't see it at all because of the stopped traffic). And for the cases where people are running up the rear of motorcycles on the end of a queue of traffic... well we have brake lights like everyone else. Rather than making them flash, how about we make people pay attention to what is already in front of them.

That's been the worst part about teaching my kids to drive- remembering to check both ways and enter cautiously NO MATTER WHAT coz other drivers mistakes don't just end up in annoying insurance claims, they can end in death. To always remember that their fate on the road can be dependent on other drivers skill and attention.
The one at 12:04 went through the (presumably) red light from a standing start with 4 whole seconds of traffic crossing right in front before driving straight into said cross traffic.

21:30 the dashcam car has 100% performed a pit manoeuvre there. Sure the car was creeping over but you can see the quick left turn movement at the moment of impact.
Or maybe what happened was that they corrected the direction their vehicle was headed, because it was being pushed right -- into oncoming traffic. It's not a pit manoeuvre when you're trying to not cause more mayhem.

Was in the back of a bike when a piece of wood/fibro came off a ute straight for us. I'm lucky my partner at the time who was driving was a really experienced rider and managed to avoid the object and not lose control while manoeuvring. Terrifying.
Hot tip. Assume everyone will pull out in front of you. Watch their wheels because it's much easier to see them moving/rotating rather than the actual car moving. It might only buy you milliseconds but sometimes that's everything.

The wheels is a good tip honestly, I'd back that up with little head movements if you notice them, alot of people auto pilot a mirror check without actually checking, saved me a good couple of times. Another one I've notice is if someone is going to go left or right they will veer slightly that way straighten up then hand jesus the wheel and just go for it😂

Incidentally, I found this channel right after I got my Learner's Riding Permit for a motorcycle. After seeing this channel, I simply let the permit expire. Far too many of us treat our motorcycling fellow countrymen with no respect. Thanks DCOA for helping save a few of my bones from breaking.

I've almost never seen gronks on motorcycles, @@IndenturedTH-camSlave. Have seen a few on DCoA. I'm certain that the proportion of gronks is much higher amongst those with a cell of protection around them - rather than those who are exposed and and vulnerable to more physical harm. No, I've never been a rider, so am not defending my mob. Yes, I've completed both defensive and advanced driver training.
The amount of people that get hit or stop to help without making the scene safe for themselves first is astonishing. Too many people have died including off duty emergency workers because of this. Of course they want to help but you have to make sure you will be safe doing that before attending to others. Situational awareness is so important. You don't want to rush blindly to help, only to be rear ended by more cars and killed along with the person you're attempting to help. Stay safe out there people.

Happened to me decade’s sago. Got hit me at speed, pushing into the next car and then into the next one and then into the next one. Poor dude who caused it was in shock and had his young kid with him. Everyone was ok other than my sister got some whiplash. Car was squashed. But they still repaired it. Drove like a dog after that.

@@jonathanwishart9104 Actually they do. You're not allowed to overtake a pilot vehicle unless you can also overtake the oversize vehicle without exceeding the speed limit. The truck and pilot contributed by not indicating way earlier than they did. Pilot vehicle should have moved over sooner and blocked that lane for the truck to move into, that's what he's there for. Lack of planning and communication.

But the cammer probably shouldn't have been coming up alongside in the first place, and he definitely shouldn't have reacted by turning into the collision and pitting the escort. I've been asked why I leave such a large gap in front of me when driving these days. It's because I don't trust the fuckers behind me. Whenever breaking hard I flick my eyes to the review mirror and if needs be I brake slower just so I don't get rear ended.
I leave a gap and brake early at danger spots and there will be some idiot who gets even closer because I'm not speeding and then slamming on the brakes at the last minute

Cammer needs to learn some courtesy and respect on the road when it comes to oversized loads with escorts. Failing to obey an escort vehicle can result in a visit from the cops in some states as pilots have authority on the roads that over-rules the average motorist, private or professional. Foreign driver unfamiliar with rental car didn’t realise on wrong side of road and couldn’t work out headlights. Then swerved by instinct the wrong way.
Didn’t turn left at all, remained in their lane until after being hit. The escort car indicated for two seconds before pulling in on that car, didn’t give them a chance to see the indicator and slow down.

The truck was in the left turn lane. There was no reason for the cam car to expect the pilot to move across two lanes. (Keep in mind that the camera sits further ahead than the drivers eyes.. they probably couldn't see the vehicle indicating)
As a motorbike rider, you wouldn’t believe how many times I have had cars getting inches too close to me because they are scrolling on their phones .. I am never scared of what’s ahead of me but always super anxious about some inattentive driver in their 2 ton vehicle rear ending me
They did indicate... as for checking their blind spot it mirrors, definitely not! Someone's clearly in the habit of "indicate and change lanes" without hesitation or observation. Then they'll yell at the person they hit saying "did you not see me indicating?"

Yeah every day I gotta deal with the fuckwits on the M5 in Sydney. Had a truck 2 metres off my ass the last week in the middle lane of 3. I have a 2 second gap to the car in front. Travelling at 95k in a 100 zone. I stick my hand out of the window in a stop sign to signal him to back off. When the car on my left exits he then goes into the left lane overtakes me and then cuts in front of me and brake checks me. I hadn't brake checked him at all and stayed travelling at 95 k.

He intentionally caused a crash while driving a vehicle with an expired registration. Just one of those will be enough for an insurer to deny his claim. Situation awareness. Be aware of all vehicles around you, like a plane/ship radar. Anticipate their intentions. If you're in the far right lane, & there's an exit coming up. Someone merge into your lane. That means they're planning to exit. Avoid accidents, even if you have the right of way, dashcam, witnesses in your favor. Insurance is trying NOT to pay anyone. If your car is fixed, things will be slightly off by millimeters, like door seal, gaps between panels. Had a parking brake locking up after a guy T-bone me.
I'm too scared to walk. No impact absorbing stuff around me. Half of those crashes ended up on the side walk. Prefer the plastic, and a gram or 2 if metal, to nothing. A lot more survivable being hit as a driver than as a pedestrian.

I've done the getting rear ended on the highway thing... almost the exact same way... don't recommend.... have not done the bonnet flyover or the "i'm an idiot" gravel slide out on the side

Sudden changes of mind cause accidents. If you make a mistake keep going and turn back at the next intersection rather than suddenly turning across lanes of traffic.
Yeah and GPS will always help you get to your destination even if you miss a turn or make a mistake. Not the end of the world, take a longer path instead and everyone is safer.
Highly underrated and most apt suggestion. It’s fairly simple isn’t it? Missed your turn, reroute. Wait for the traffic to clear to join in a busy road. Slow down your vehicles at the intersection and roundabouts. Don’t text and drive. Leave one and a half car length space.
The sheer number of uploaders where it may not have been their fault but the entire situation could've been avoided if they'd taken any evasive action at all.
It just depends on time of day and driver fatigue sometimes I think.

Amazes me how many people on a fast road 80km/h + follow the car in front with less then 1-2 second gap and some of them you can see are on their phone, with no brakes applied until collision.
Should be 2 seconds minimum... 3, if you want extra buffer. Hardly anyone drives to the conditions either, then gets upset when they crash into someone.
They fail kids for doing this, but these morons have forgotten all that training.

Lights on the rear won't do much when the people are looking at the front of the vehicle (or can't see it at all because of the stopped traffic).
And for the cases where people are running up the rear of motorcycles on the end of a queue of traffic... well we have brake lights like everyone else. Rather than making them flash, how about we make people pay attention to what is already in front of them.

That's been the worst part about teaching my kids to drive- remembering to check both ways and enter cautiously NO MATTER WHAT coz other drivers mistakes don't just end up in annoying insurance claims, they can end in death. To always remember that their fate on the road can be dependent on other drivers skill and attention.

Was in the back of a bike when a piece of wood/fibro came off a ute straight for us. I'm lucky my partner at the time who was driving was a really experienced rider and managed to avoid the object and not lose control while manoeuvring.

Hot tip. Assume everyone will pull out in front of you. Watch their wheels because it's much easier to see them moving/rotating rather than the actual car moving. It might only buy you milliseconds but sometimes that's everything.

The wheels is a good tip honestly, I'd back that up with little head movements if you notice them, alot of people auto pilot a mirror check without actually checking, saved me a good couple of times. Another one I've notice is if someone is going to go left or right they will veer slightly that way straighten up then hand jesus the wheel and just go for it😂

The amount of people that get hit or stop to help without making the scene safe for themselves first is astonishing. Too many people have died including off duty emergency workers because of this. Of course they want to help but you have to make sure you will be safe doing that before attending to others. Situational awareness is so important. You don't want to rush blindly to help, only to be rear ended by more cars and killed along with the person you're attempting to help. Stay safe out there people.

The truck and pilot contributed by not indicating way earlier than they did. Pilot vehicle should have moved over sooner and blocked that lane for the truck to move into, that's what he's there for. Lack of planning and communication.

I've been asked why I leave such a large gap in front of me when driving these days. It's because I don't trust the fuckers behind me. Whenever breaking hard I flick my eyes to the review mirror and if needs be I brake slower just so I don't get rear ended.
I leave a gap and brake early at danger spots and there will be some idiot who gets even closer because I'm not speeding and then slamming on the brakes at the last minute
I spotted a car with a dinged up front bumper behind me the other day, decided to make sure I had plenty of space for a long, slow brake, just in case.
My dad taught me that when I first got my Learners - judge your distances by whether the guy behind you can also stop. Been in a few slightly hairy situations over the years since then, and no collisions at all. Defensive driving, 100%.
The closer the guy behind me is sitting, the slower I go.

The truck was in the left turn lane. There was no reason for the cam car to expect the pilot to move across two lanes. (Keep in mind that the camera sits further ahead than the drivers eyes.. they probably couldn't see the vehicle indicating)

Yeah every day I gotta deal with the fuckwits on the M5 in Sydney. Had a truck 2 metres off my ass the last week in the middle lane of 3. I have a 2 second gap to the car in front. Travelling at 95k in a 100 zone. I stick my hand out of the window in a stop sign to signal him to back off. When the car on my left exits he then goes into the left lane overtakes me and then cuts in front of me and brake checks me. I hadn't brake checked him at all and stayed travelling at 95 k.
This is how the majority of Australians drive these days.... little to no caution. So many preventable accidents in very good conditions.
The number of times I see people not slowing at least a little going past lines of stationary traffic astounds me. Someone WILL ALWAYS jump out
Why should you have to slow down traffic flowing perfectly fine just incase some flog does what the blue car did? That's why there's so much congestion on the fucking road.

had this happen twice to me and both times I avoided a collision due to perceiving the risk and slowing down. and stopping in one case.

He intentionally caused a crash while driving a vehicle with an expired registration. Just one of those will be enough for an insurer to deny his claim. Habib here will be paying for the damage to both cars out of his own pocket, and if he tries to claim, will have to tell future insurers that he has had a claim denied for the foreseeable future, if not for the rest of his life.
It'll be the most expensive temper tantrum of his life...or his life so far, if he doesn't wake up to himself and go get some anger management training.

@@lesstockley4937 anyone with any sense could have seen the truck was going to pull out and slowed down. I put the blame on the cam car cause you could see the truck already half way out before it had even started moving.

Situation awareness. Be aware of all vehicles around you, like a plane/ship radar. Anticipate their intentions. If you're in the far right lane, & there's an exit coming up. Someone merge into your lane. That means they're planning to exit.
Avoid accidents, even if you have the right of way, dashcam, witnesses in your favor. Insurance is trying NOT to pay anyone. If your car is fixed, things will be slightly off by millimeters, like door seal, gaps between panels. Had a parking brake locking up after a guy T-bone me.

I'm too scared to walk. No impact absorbing stuff around me. Half of those crashes ended up on the side walk. Prefer the plastic, and a gram or 2 if metal, to nothing. A lot more survivable being hit as a driver than as a pedestrian.
