    For anyone wondering, the outside airbag deployed at 0:25 is to protect any pedestrians from hitting the windscreen.

      Yep! Drive to conditions, pay attention while driving, and stop at Stop Signs. That’d eliminate the vast majority of accidents.

      I've just come from some american dash cam compilations and I'm just happy the cammers are stopping instead of trying to swerve around hazards while maintaining as high as speed as they can.
      I think it's some kind of freedom thing.

    3:28 is the most confusing reaction to a car accident I have ever seen. If you can't plant your feet and stop a Nissan Micra rolling away at 2kmph, you should probably be barred from driving entirely.

      @@Davo_1991 After replaying that a couple of times, I reckon that it was a different ute that crammed itself between the dash-cammer & the parked vehicle because even though they were both tray-backs, the one pulling out from the driveway didn't appear to have work-lights each side of the cab!

      I actually know a guy who was crushed like that and is now a double amputee. The lady driving had a hard attack and died, a second either way would've missed him on a clear rd.

      I don't think they're adaptive lights, more that they flash with) instead of the hazards.

      @@dw1508 doesnt seem to make much sense as a pedestrian airbag though? the majority of the airbag that the pedestrian would have hit is covered by the metal (i assume, maybe its plastic, doesnt make much difference) hatch that the airbag deployed from.
      the design seems more likely to deflect the pedestrian away from the windscreen while the airbag ensures the windscreen isnt damaged.

      @@pastorofmuppets8834 They're adaptive in the sense that since the Audi driver applied maximum braking the brake lights strobed in stead of being steady, and they did so for a little after the accident too.       You can tell a lot of people left foot brake so their right foot is always hovering on the accelerator. So they have a crash and brace with both feet and the car accelerates.

    I'm from the UK (where dashcams show polite people getting mildy upset) and I've started watching these Aussie vids instead of the Russian ones for 4 main reasons:
    1. You all drive on the correct side of the road.
    2. The weather is much better.
    3. You're nowhere near as angry as the Russians, and when you _do_ swear, I can understand what you're saying 🤗
    4. Your choice in driving music is much, much better 🎶

      i mean if the guy was traveling at the same speed as everyone else. By the time that car that rolls comes into view its still smashing every other car in the video for speed. so how fast was he going? It then comes down to judging the gap, if someones going 3 times faster than everyone else but they are closing from behind theres very little reference they are actually going 3 times faster, especially since thats looking back between the front seats, past the back seats, past the rear of the cab, and past the roll bar. To me it seems like the other car could have been traveling to the conditions then when the white dude did his lane change, there be no swerving-while-going-at-twice-the-speed-of-everyone-else-action

      @@kineticdeath The other vehicles in that lane were going significantly faster than the cammer and the vehicles immediately around him. The victim was not going sufficiently faster than them to excuse the white pickup from fault and liability.

    Last one though, failure to slow down in a construction zone, disregarding a mandatory road sign. I forsee them having higher insurance rates forever more, and being found entirely at fault for all costs.

      insurance should be voided, they should pay every cent from their own savings. If they dont have enough, sell their stuff. If they dont have enough, make them report to mandatory work with ALL proceeds going to cover damages caused. People getting to just meh around in a car smashing into things only to be bailed out by a 600 dollar excess is pathetic. Meanwhile the other person gets a fraction of the value they paid for their car, along with any injuries and they still dont have a car anymore

      She was seriously hurt, she stumbles out of the car and is cradling her arm, then she awkwardly moves away from the car as it is rolling away. Even if it was just shock, you are barely in control of your body at that point. Still your point is valid if she thinks that is the right thing to do.

      Sorry but anyone who shuts down enough that it prevents them from applying the brakes should not be on the road. Obviously that doesn't apply to anyone who has been serious injured / knocked unconscious.

      A lot of people unfortunately haven't had high pressure experiences enough that it means they just react rather than scream and let go. Freezing in fear is an EXTREMELY common reaction to something going up shit creek.

If the driver of the stationary car honks their horn they might get the attention of the other driver (that is about to hit them) and the other driver should hopefully hit the break. All too often I've seen people just sit in their car and do nothing... Are they hypnotised by the other car slowly moving toward them?

      well the left lane is for slower drivers cars trucks etc and being that highway/road is 110 most dont go in the left lane, also being most in the right lane do 120 and not 110 alot hang in the right lane. what can i say.

      Ex-heavy vehicle driver here. The signs refer to the tail-swing of the tray/trailer which can encroach on adjacent lanes when turning sharply. At least where I live (WA) these signs do not allow us legal possession of both lanes, especially without indicating. Plus, even with a B Double or road train, one lane is enough to get around a big roundabout like that. If the law is the same in whatever state that was in then the truckie is (rightly) going to be responsible for most of that crash. That was a poor piece of driving.

      I would have no hesitation in using my 30 year old 4wd as a blocker to stop such a runaway.....rather than my body...to protect all the surrounding tinfoil cars from further damage...

      ​@@Seiskid truckie cant indicate, cars in the lane he would be passing would notice the indicator and go, then be well surprised when the truckie continues to head straight for them. While in this situation it was a quiet roundabout if it was more busy the use of an indicator in this way would be significantly worse.
      the real issue is the route has been approved for B doubles, or it hasnt been approved and the truckie was on it.

    After watching these clips, i really think we need to introduce defensive driving courses as a mandetory thing as part of gaining either P plates, or full license.

      I'm an old fuk, but when I was a young cnut (early 1970's), my school (Scarborough Senior High School) offered defensive driving courses.
      The car was donated by the local Holden Dealer.
      I'm surprised that it's not happening these days

    I'm always surprised how how easily traffic/light poles go down. They look and feel solid when walking by then and yet a slight tap from a car and they come down.
    Obviously it's a safety feature but still

      To me it looks like the car was stopped to not queue across the intersection but by the time they took their foot off the brake, the other car had probably cut across their lane (as they did with the dash cammer) and wasn't able to move forward. Asshole then forces the dash cammer to brake since they've inched into their lane before getting their just desserts although sadly the truck driver was also involved.

      I witnessed a crash at about 20km/h the woman driving went into shock and then ended up rolling into the car behind her even though the bloke had his horn hard on. Some people are just stunned by what happens they lose all logic.

      @@MadMaddi21 While it certainly wasn't Highway speeds, it's still a nearly head on collision where one of those cars was probably going around 40-60 kph into an essentially stationary vehicle. Time of collision looked to be about 0.2 seconds, so that's a force of around 50-80G. While some of that does get absorbed by crumple zones in the cars, it is still a significant jolt, and more importantly, it wasn't directly head on. This means that the seat belt would have pulled at an odd angle on the body, rather than directly across the chest. Whiplash is also a likely factor.
