2:12 The eternal horror that is the Whatley Crescent Bridge at Meltham Station. How many accidents and deaths have been logged there is nothing short of pure horror. The inattention from not watching who the fuck you're either ramming into from behind, or cutting in front of from the other way. And being that it's a 40 zone but the lane is as wide as an airport runway, people are tempted to jump the gun and speed through there at ridiculous speeds. But the worst part of this intersection is the fact that, when you turn left going this way as per the video, if you have no previous experience, you'll never know that there's a blind descent that hides the rest of the way. Or worse, going the other way (rightwards as per the video), you have a blind ascent into an immediate intersection where people want to turn right and cross the bridge, but you'll never know until you're almost about to ram someone from behind. I'm always impressed by how these videos show just how resilient modern cars are, particularly in the t-bones - if these were older cars, many of these would be videos of spaghetti and meatballs on the road instead
Biggest change has been how now it’s just second nature to wear a seatbelt. As a baby, in 1975, I went home from the hospital in my mother’s arms… just like every other baby. Between the cars and our attitudes towards road safety, I t’s a wonder anyone made it out of the 70’s alive.
True. The per capita injuries and fatalities in the 80s, 70s, and especially 60s would probably scare a lot of people now,@@LaPetitWookiee. 😬
Off the top of my head, I think in about 1970 we had roughly half the population, but nearly triple the annual fatalities.

Their eyes are open but they're looking at the phone.

Self Driving Cars will relegate these idiots to the back seats, making it safer for the rest of us.
Some are on their phone but a bunch of these were paying attention and thought they could make it through because the light "only just changed" or "there was no cross traffic". The guy who ran four reds and eventually crashed did slow down a little as he approached each red - he went through them very deliberately and eventually screwed up.

The eternal horror that is the Whatley Crescent Bridge at Meltham Station.
One of the worst intersections known to man.
7:19 instant justice.
