All this is very good emotionally , but what about the rights of the child .what happens to a kid who is raised by a mentally ill parent all alone .what provisions are there in our laws to prevent these kids from developing mental disorders on account of being raised and taught by a parent who has a mental illness even if that illness is only severe depression .who makes sure in this country that the same parent may not relapse and harm the child mentally or physically? Also is there any data on what happenned to all the kids who were forced into laps of mentally ill parents ( who most likely stop treatment or are not compliant with treatment) ? I feel rather than nipping mental illness in the bud , by allowing these people to be single parents we are propagating mentally illness in the society .
