Hi there, I was able to replace the screen as per tutorial. Thank you so much. Saved a perfectly working laptop and so much money. Thank you very much again. Area of improvement in the instructions would be: 1. when you unplug the speaker cable, be super cautious and very careful because even a little aggressive pull will damage the cable. 2. when you unplug the wifi cables, pull the cables straight up and out. Don't pull the cable out like you do for all the other connections. So pull up. good luck to all!
I broke my speaker cable... funny think is you really don't need to disconnect it to fish the other two cables. Should have just left it plugged in, otherwise great video
I used this tutorial to replace my screen this afternoon. It took me a little longer than the video but I was back up and running in under 45 minutes. Here's a tip for others: I took a picture of the back of my computer and printed it out. As I removed each screw I taped it over its location on the picture. I did the same with the insides. Makes it a lot easier to replace the tiny screws.
Excellent video! I replaced my screen and now everything is working perfectly. I was slow and rewatched the video a lot so it took me 90 minutes but only cost me $45 (screen and the screwdrivers.)
I just changed out my screen and I'm really not good at this sort of thing. The only thing I would change is to leave the speaker wires connected because the clip broke on mine when I tried pulling it off and it really isn't necessary, I stuck the wires back in the clip and it worked. Thank you very much for the video. Cheers!!
I just wanted to thank you for taking the time to make this video. I ordered the tools you suggested, and they worked great. I will be using them for future projects. My son now has a working Mac book for school.
I followed step by step your tutorial after ordering a new screen. Unfortunately my screen is still dark. I can hear it power on and off. What other solutions would you have to correct this problem? Thank you
Good video but with one mistake...if you hadn't routed the cable wrong it would have avoided all the faffing around you ended up having to do with what looks like the webcam cable. Compare 3:59 to 9:46 - the cable goes on top of the USB/Power PCB not underneath.
Thank you very much the video war really useful, I was stuck with the wifi cable but if you hit the cable straight and with patience you can do it.🎉🎉🎉🎉
My universities computer store was going to charge me 430 dollar for this repair. SMH so glad I found your video! I never ended up repairing it because it had other issues not related to the screen, but I'm so glad I found your video because it prevented me from making a costly decision.
Hello, Thank you for your video and it helped me replace my lcd screen. I do have a question though, after replacing I am running into a slight issue. My laptop will charge, but the USB port right next to the charger output will not work. On the other side, the USB works though. Also, my internal speakers are not working and they are also no showing up in the apple preferences.
Hey, thanks for much for this video ! I'm wondering which model I need to purchase based on the links in the description. I have a MacBook Air 2017 13.3 inch, A1466, EMC 3178. Can you help me figure out which model is best in the links in your description? I'm trying to evaluate but I'm not sure if I know what I'm doing lol.

my screen is all white now.. it was flicking for a couple of weeks but now it's all white and useless. I have an appointment schedule at the apple store to get a diagnosis so if it's the screen then I'll for sure come back to this page and change it myself.

Any chance you could do a video on just replacing the LVDS cable for the the A1466?
It's hard to replace the LVDS cable. I suggest to change entire screen assembly.
@@UbergeeksBiz I’ve seen a few videos of it. Is it really that difficult? I don’t doubt it’s challenging but it seems like a plug and play situation.
@@ChrisBranleh You have to remove the glass. That's the most challenging part.

Try reconnecting the cable from that USB side to main motherboard. Maybe it is not connected properly.
