I did it! I’ve never done anything like this before in my life. You saved me hundreds! Thank you for sharing valuable knowledge. I followed you step by step at .75x speed.
I will say the tools that come with the linked screen replacement have poor magnetism so it is worth it to have better tools. The screws are microscopic so the magnetism is super helpful!

I had the same issue with the tools, just stroke them across each other a couple of times and it fixes the problem.

Jan 12, 2024: Broke my screen by closing it on a usb-c charging cable that was resting on my laptop without me knowing - ouch and $$$! Followed this tutorial and took my time with it - the author did a great job to explain everything he was doing, step by step. Within an hour, my replacement screen was working on my Macbook Air. If you can follow instructions and take your time, you should be able to do the screen replacement without issues.
One note is I needed a T5 screwdriver for the x2 black screws (not a T4) which was not mentioned in the video.
    Suggestions for anyone reading this:
    - Have a clean workspace - I vacuumed my desk before working to ensure no dust, hair, etc. would get in the work area.
    - Take advantage of pause/play for this tutorial using the computers space bar
    - Some of the screws are TINY - the tiniest I have ever seen. Have an additional light or two facing your work area.
    - Print a photocopy of your open laptop when the author tells you to in order to keep your screws in order - it was helpful.

December 29 2023, this video helped me do the screen replacement on my 3 year old Mac. Thank you so much for the detailed instructions and quality video. I ordered the screen on Amazon and 2 sets of tools on Amazon. The fine tips on the smaller drivers rounded off so I was glad I had a couple of extras. I am typing this on the repaired computer and the screen is clean and clear. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to me and thank you to the provider of this video. Based on the quotes I received from a couple of local repair shops, I saved over $200 at one and $400 at the other. Thanks, DC

I replaced the screen for a staff member at my company and we saved a lot of money. We have a couple more to fix and i know i can do it. I did buy a set of tools that were magnetized and didn't use the ones that came with the screen. Appreciate your video a LOT! You were very good at explaining and your camera work was excellent.

I did it, too! I'm a 58 year-old female homesteader. If I can do this anyone can!
I had closed a cable connecting speakers on the right side of the screen and damaged it.
He is easy to follow, accurate descriptions of everything, great camera placement.
Some challenges I had were: 1) removing the back, thankfully my husband bought a kit for computer repair which contained plastic pryers in a few different sizes. There wasn't one in with the screen, which we bought on Amazon. Only used 2 tools that came with the screen T9 and T4. He says T8 in the video, but it came with T9, which fit. 2) removing the glued on bar, that took a bit of work. (which he says it will)
I was thankful to be able to pause, rewind and watch again.
I would recommend this fellow to anyone with computer issues! I'm even thinking about a career change...😊

Almost cried when I closed the corner of my blanket inbetween the two laptop pieces and shattered the corner of the screen, taking almost an hour to come to terms with having to take a decent chunk out of savings to give to apple for a fix. Then I found your video, and saved literal hundreds of dollars and time!! You're a godsend, and your video was really easy to follow along to. 15 out of 10, thank you so much again!!!!!!! Will come back to your channel if I screw up any more of my tech in the future ❤❤😅.

Apple repairs make no sense....they were more expensive than a new model of the same laptop. Not to mention they lock features on newer models if you don't replace it from them directly...even if the screen is original.

Oh my GOSH man!!! I just have to say thank you SO MUCH! I was kind of freaked out about doing this at first...like heyyy...are these guys trying to rip me off? ...but I watched the video and ordered from your link below (I picked the one with the top amazon reviews, it was like 4.6 stars), and just decided to go for it. I’m in college, and the semester just began a couple of days ago...and my screen went dead. ALL my books, everything...are online. Everywhere was telling me it would be $450 bucks to replace and I don’t have that kind of money. Needless to say, you saved my life! I can’t thank you enough!!!

Great tutorial. Saved about $250 doing the repair myself. One deviation, some of the smallest screws holding down the Wi-Fi cable connectors were smaller than T4. I bought a screen that came with tools so I had what I needed, but they are not labeled so I don’t know what size they are. All in all, this was a pretty easy job. Definitely doable. I use a loop of blue painters tape to hold screws in the right place on the printout of the computer. Keeps things from rolling away.

Just replaced our screen! The tutorial was spot on. The only thing is we used the T-3 instead of the T-4 in many cases. The video was easy to follow and spot on. We did take every precaution by using drawings with where the screens went to be sure we had the correct ones when putting the screen back together. Would not recommend doing this around kids...those screws are super tiny. Thumbs up on the video. A lot of good tips along the way.

Thank you so much for the tutorial, I was able to fix my daughters laptop screen and saved the cost of installation. For first timers like me I would recommended getting post it notes and labeling where the screws go. Or just keeping them in order somehow, I didn't and it was a little trial and error finding the right screws for the right spots. But in the end I got it done and have a very happy daughter. A small recommendation: You could look online for broken macbooks with a working screen.. If you get a good offer you basically get a original apple display:) Thats what i did. Make sure your model and everything checks out and of course that the display is working!

THANK YOU, THANK YOU!! My wife's 2021 MacBook Air showed a three inch black bar on one side of the screen and as you can guess...Apple Care expired a few months ago!! After watching your video, I propositioned my wife to let me fix her laptop or I would buy her a new one. I then clicked on your links, received the screen overnight through Amazon, and repaired the screen-following your video step-by-step! You made it extremely easy to do, and the screen + the torque screw set cost me $195 - WAY better than paying Apple $700. You are a life-saver!!

Thank you so much for the video! Very educational. The ONLY thing I found that was kind of incorrect was, the bigger black screws were actually a T5 instead of T4 bit. I got worried I was stripping it and realizes it was actually a hair bigger than the T4. But I genuinely appreciate the video! It definitely helped me save money and helped me be more confident about taking on the job.

First time through these repairs you have to go slow and make sure you got the right driver for each screw and don't force anything apart. A few years ago I destroyed a Mac mini by being too rough and careless. Learned my lesson.

I needed to replace the display on my MacBook Air after the screen suffered significant water damage that my insurance wouldn't cover (PSA - always check that your liquids have been properly resealed after random airport security testing!). I watched this video then ordered the replacement screen from Amazon and followed along step by step.
Thank you so much -the video was extremely clear and easy to follow, and you saved me around £200. It took me around 45 minutes as my antenna bar was really securely glued and I was wrestling with my glasses and a magnifier but it all worked perfectly.

Really good instruction, thanks. The official Apple repair manual wants you to take the whole logic board out in order to make it easier to pop out the antenna. It *would* be easier to get it out if the logic board were removed, but doing is 1) a lot more work and 2) triggers the need for a new system configuration to be done - more hassle. Skip all that and follow the procedure outlined in this video. Thanks again!

It was very easy to follow! What I'm surprise for is that 20 k visits to this video means that 20k MacBook owners had the need to replace their screen, this doesn't speak well about Apple

Don't even try it unless you know what the hell you're doing. It's VERY EASY to screw up and ruin your own laptop, and then you'll be wishing you brought it to Apple.

I don't care how old you are, or how fast you did it. If it went the other way, and it very well could have, you could be just as easily confirming I'm right instead of sitting there sanctimoniously gloating about something stupid you did and happened to get lucky about doing it. And just because you did get lucky and things happened to go your way, doesn't mean you still weren't taking a risk or acting stupidly for attempting to do it in the first place.
Regardless, there are qualified people who actually earn a living doing this work, who also paid for professional training, and people like this guy who ignorantly post these videos for all to see and without forethought of that fact, and all just so he can play internet star and be Mr. Helpy Helperton, is in reality doing more harm than good by detrimentally affecting an entire industry. It's morons just like this guy here on TH-cam who ruin the ability of others to earn a living, and frankly that just pisses me off.

I had only one problem the replacement screen wouldn’t close all the way. Had to take the screen back off and wiggle the hinges around a little bit they were very stiff. I added a little bit of lubricant on them and it helped as well.
