Okay Salty I had no choice but to track this set down and buy it after your overview. Really enjoying it, it is indeed fast! Great looking set, box art is sweet and that Rocky Mountain blurb is a gem. I noticed the trailing A unit was a lot lighter than the other two units since it is an empty shell, added tire balancing weights inside the empty fuel tank. Each loco is now from memory 2lbs, 10 ounces, seems to have less wheel slip/chatter when starting when pulling a heavy consist.
thanks for all the detail on this locomotive. I never bought a K line but with your detail and knowledge it shows me they're a good line to get. thanks. Oh I did subscribe to your channel too
@EngineerEd-xt2qu Thank you! I do believe if K-Line was still in business, they would at the top. I'll review one of their top steam locomotives soon. You will really enjoy that one.
These are actually F3's because they have the 2 long skinny screened vents on the roof just behind the horns. The "vent" on the rear most roof panel is the steam generator used for heat with passenger service. Many of the F3's had the side screens over the intakes just like the F7s and 9s. They are all very similar. Im a big fan of kline i own quite a few. (such as the SP daylight E-9s) My Dad was actually a dealer for them in the late 80s and 90s. I sure miss K-line.
Phil, I especially like when you give detailed info that is about specific engines. Makes it more personal. Thanks so much. I'm just beginning to learn rail history so much appreciated. Gary
@@TheTrainboard Hey No problem Gary, I just hope I didn't sound like to much of a know-it-all. lol We all like to show off from time to time, right...by the way, I just saw your son Ryan at the Greenberg show in Edison, N.J.! I'm a fan of the channel, Thanks Gary!
I like the idea that everything is driving with 6 motors. The thing I don’t like is the rubber tires and the electronics to drive DC can motors. I never had good things to say about electronics that fry up with derails. So I avoid which yields me pre and post war only. Detail is fine but ease of breakage not so much. I prefer no sounds. Sorry but horn sucks.😊
@@UncleSalty-nz5uk found some information about the Alco C628 Matt. Three have been preserved. One in Australia and two in Mexico. Got any Postwar stuff?
I love k-line loco's. Wish they were still around
@@nathanosland1179 Me too
WoW.... NICE set for being K-line. I might have to look for a set of those. Been looking for some nice Rio Grande. Thanks for the video👍👍

Ed, we've found kline an very good value, especially in their later years with their improved tmcc siund. Gary
@@TheTrainboard I’m still using conventional which is fun
I have always regretted the fact that we lost Kline. They were great for our hobby. Thanks for sharing.
@georgebenson6036 I 100% agree! Wish I would have bought more new, but we had so many choices back then.
Matt, I'm a big fan of kline from way back and love those up colors. Nice video with a little k line history added in. Gary
Are those TMCC and 1:48 scale
K-line made some great stuff
@@williamkolina3988 No TMCC, but are 1:48
These F7's are really nice looking and powerful Matt. With 6 motors you can pull anything! 👍
Thanks Frank! They even kinda growl like postwar stuff
@@UncleSalty-nz5ukNow that is really cool. 👍

Me too. I knew the K-Line sales rep for this area back in the day. Good company actually.

Beautiful set Matt!! They have a lot of great detail! And I love the tether system on that vs the MTH system! 🚂😎
Wow Matt, you have lots of locomotives and those would look good with a string of boxcars.
They run well..love the K line track as well. What radius curves do you have of it?
@azslotracer I have 0-42, 0-72, and 054. Thanks for watching!
@UncleSalty-nz5uk very nice. I missed the boat on it. I do, however, have a lot of Lionel Super O track and hope to learn how to make it into 0-72.
@azslotracer I love Super 0! Still the most realistic track system ever in my opinion
