I've just bought the new 130 Defender p525 and I'M having it converted into a camper only thing I'm not doing is the roof lift I'm having 6 leisure batteries in it and the roof covered in solar panels that extend plus gas cooking it will have a full size narrow fridge as well I'm wanting to be offgrid for at least 7 days without having to connect to the mains can't wait love these types of video's
Nice van. I've got Renault trafic 2019 lwb premier edition. Notice you don't have a porta potti. Probably use site toilets as I do. But I've got one at home in case I got to a site without wc I saw someone else's conversion where they had it behind drivers seat when parked up. Didn't think I'd be able to do it. But if I push seat right forward. I can. Noticed your units don't go up tight to seat. So you maybe able to do same. Having said that. I've never used it yet. But I'm on my own as my wife passed away. I'm 79 and buying my van which I converted has really helped me. We had a twin axle caravan on seasonal pitch in Peak District for 12yrs & loved it. But when my wife died I wasn't enjoying the same. Joined a camping club for singles now
Great video Mike, now I want one! At the moment I am driving a vw caddy maxi 4 wheel drive. My father in law and I made the bed of left over material he had in he’s garage, we buildt it so the 1person bed can slide in to a 2 person bed. We assembled a few heavy duty drawers under the bed that are large enough to store what I need and even more. But with no insulation, extra batteries or cooking stove it has its limitations. I mostly use it for long distance driving to get to national parks or glamping around in Norway.
Nice ride mate! I have the same tyres on 17" black rhinos on my T6.1 Kombi, nice comfy ride, they hum a litte at certain speeds, but not too bad. I do need to get my (ADAS) ACC/break assist radar recalibrated due to the larger turning distance and slightly taller ride height. Mine is more of an adventure van with kombi fold down 2nd row full width bed and ovano drawer with fridge/storage/cook system all underneath.I also have underslung LPG and a slimline 270w panel which keeps my leisure battery topped up. Thankfully I had VW stock LED's front and back so nice and bright!
Awesome video Mike, i really do wish i had taken the leap back in the day when i wanted to live off grid but i never did. Really nice job you done there buddy. Laters dude. 👍🏻🔥🙂
Love it, we are currently saving like mad to buy ours , like the fact you can have roof bars for paddle boards or kayak as well We are already planning and want a back box, for the bbq and outdoor seating, also love the finish of your worktops , it looks like carbon fibre, is that a standard option ? Subbed 👍🏼
Great video Mike, and really lovely van, but I 100% agree with the 4x4 being a big downfall. Have you seen 4X Overland channel ? Andrew has done many conversions with the famous Toyota Landcruisers, Their capability as 4x4 vehicle camper and practicality of them is, I think one of the best in world. If you could get your hands on one, it would instantly satisfy your need for the Defender off-road performance and can be made into awesome camper. Followed your Dad and your channel for years, love them ! Best wishes to you and your family buddy !
Nice video, looks like a great van. Where do you keep clothes and bedding when you have someone else with you? The R&R beds sit so far back when folded up there's not much "boot" compared to an Altair Rib bed.
What happened to your left hand? Didn't you do this before? I seem to remember a "My new campervan" video tour a while ago. Doesn't matter, looks great on the inside.
This is a VW transporter, made by an independent company called CamperKing, weird that the VW California isn’t available in the US considering California is in the US 🤦♂️
Depending on the base model eg. Startline - Highline DSG auto age etc.. .Anywhere from 50 - 75K. To put things in perspective a new stock T6.1 highline dsg auto VAN could cost around £49k + 20%vat before it was even modified.
best thing ever did was buy my Van money pit never ending project love it.
I just recently acquired a T6.1 also. Money pit indeed 😂

Sounds awesome!
That's one of the best I've seen. Very well thought out as well as the finish.
Yikes, hope your hand heals well. I wish the vw camper van was available over here across the pond. Seems very well designed
It’s healed up well thank you.

The only missing Mike is fire extinguisher and emergency kit. But it's a great tour!

Had a VW camper only earlier model than yours. It was great! Roomy-ness is great!👍👍
Great van tour, you’ve done a wonderful job on it. ❤
Very nice! Wish they were sold in the US. At least we have the same tires :) I agree with you on the 4WD too.
Do you not have a VW transporter in the US?
Sadly no :(
Really great video....makes me want to go out and purchase a Campervan! Hope your hand heals soon...Take it easy!

thanks for the detailed review. I’m very impressed
awesome that it has an oven....
Great tour! Great van, I hear ya on the 4x4!

Amazing tour thank you for sharing
Very nice, have fun with your family (a lot)
How much? 💴
Or did you build it?
Looks amazing 😍
Have been looking at one of these vans to take to France for my snowboarding adventures. Though I wondered about insulation in the pop top?
I've got 2 lots of woodland 1 you would be good to get to with the camper the other is very boggy and hilly you would defiantly need the Defender

this is a pretty cool camper though the lack of 4WD is limiting where you can go with it. I wonder how much was it?
Very nice indeed, I dream to get one one day l🤞
Love learning from your videos! Just wondering, what size are the rims and tyres and also is the van lifted at all?
What happened to your left hand?
Didn't you do this before? I seem to remember a "My new campervan" video tour a while ago. Doesn't matter, looks great on the inside.
How do you access leisure battery? Been told it’s on the right hand side rear. Have looked and can’t even see it.
Hi Mike, what size of tyres did you go for with the Kato wheels? Was it the 245 or 235 tyres? Have you had any issues with rubbing?
Brilliant 👍
Thank you for sharing ✌️💞🤟
Thankyou. ❤
Hi Mike, what conversion did camperking carry out? Monte Carlo ?
Hi, Yes it was the Monte Carlo
@@LifeofMikeOfficial thanks for the reply, my understanding is the Monte Carlo don’t come with grill/oven, but you have one in yours
nice
Did I miss an injury?!
Yeah few weeks ago. Chisel in the hand
The sound is all mad on the video Mike. Can't hear you after your intro
Yeah sorry about that. My mic cable pulled out after that intro and I didn’t realise until the end!!
Unfortunately the vw California camler is not sold in the US.
This is a VW transporter, made by an independent company called CamperKing, weird that the VW California isn’t available in the US considering California is in the US 🤦♂️
This is a T6 right? How is the bouncy bouncy suspension....😂 ?
What is the total cost!?of the van!?
This is a van conversion by a company called CamperKing, you’re looking at around £60,000 for this.
Depending on the base model eg. Startline - Highline DSG auto age etc.. .Anywhere from 50 - 75K. To put things in perspective a new stock T6.1 highline dsg auto VAN could cost around £49k + 20%vat before it was even modified.
