Mike and Elvis; I think you are the perfect carfriend combo; the fun you two have beams off of the screen in every video and that always makes me smile, laugh and enjoying every second
True euro 205 rallye was a 1300 homologation special with twin webers etc; built to allow participation in certain FIA classes. Same 1300 engine in the first series of 106 Rallye and for same class homolgation reasons, and this was imported to the UK. The 106 benefitted from injection, mine from new was ludicrous to keep at idle so I understand the 205s tuning was even more wayward for carbs. Also peak torque (barely any) was at 5500 and max power 7200 with limiter at 7500! The 106 Rallye was geared at 16.6mph/1000rpm which made motorway cruising excruciating at 4500: I think the 205 was similar, but that was the price for both of having what was actually needed for rallying.
The engine in the 205 Rallye was actually quite different to the 106 Rallye but with the same capacity. The TU24 in the 205 was based on the TU1 block and the TU2J2 in the 106 was a TU3 block.
@@thiscocks Thanks, that’s interesting; I guess they were aiming for a similar result with both the proper Rallyes. In all my cars its the only one I’ve known (and remembered) that specific gearing ratio, cos boy did you know about it after a decent trip! It also got through the specific Pirellis at an alarming rate and fuel consumption could be in single figures for a tank - but not very often as that was hard work.
@@williambooth5769 yes 👍 I heard they went for a different blocks because the 106 was injection so they could use a higher rod/stroke ratio. All gets a bit technical! Yes I think the 205 rallye box (and AX sport) was a tiny bit taller fd than the 106 rallye. I’ve had both and like you say both are not built for motorway driving!
Elvis, not genuine Rallye engine fitted in that, UK spec was TU3S which had cast iron block? Best to change it for TU5JP block, with motorbike carbs, sounds and goes like it should with that set up...
I bought my last 205 GTI for £1000 with 30000 miles out of admag. Sold it for £2500 four years later then got offered it back for £10000 a few years ago. Regret selling it so much
Mike I have been following your programs for years now am thinking of building a Vauxhall calibra rear wheel drive with the Saab b204 we’re can I get a conversion plate to marry the 204 with a bmw derv gearbox and what diff should I use for drifting
Why did they place Mike in the drivers seat at the final competition? I 'm about the same as him, so no hatred there. Elvis would've been the far better choice! He's the better driver.🤷♂️
250K plus for a T16 now? Actually back in 2002-3 on a training visit to Poissy factory, I was quoted by a Peugeot official (I think the factory director) that they had to sell the last two T16s below cost because they were sitting there for many yrs. After that and a quick net search, I found one brand new that its asking price was 80k €.
I expected Elvis to be behind the wheel for the race. Elvis weighs very little compared to Big Mike and he drives like a F-1 driver. Very disappointed with that. But a brilliant build and a great car.
I know. I can get a top mechanic to do up cars, do all the work to them, and i can sell them at the end and take all the credit. Yes that's it, just hope know one cottons on and realize I'm a parasite teehee. Best wishes mike fat cat brewer

When I was adolescent, I wanted to drive a rally version 205 Rally Gr.N.
Thank you Wheeler Dealers!
Balancing of the crank shaft. That is mighty interesting.

you are right
I had a 95 phase 1 106 rallye. Absolutely loved that thing, screaming little engine😍😍😍👌🏻

Man I love to have a car this man built
Limited slip diff would have made a huge difference. Probably made of unobtainium though.
Had a little google and they're actually available! 'MA gearbox LSD' and presto. They are almost 1000 euro's though.
Amazing and awesome
We're in the Welsh Valleys....... less than a.mile from the sea Mike, 😅
Where can we watch the rest of this chapter? it looked so interesting to me
A very cool car 🚗 😎

Nice
Anyone know where they got the car seat covers? I have a 205 Rallye and I’m looking for seat covers.

Ed China was the real star in this show
I think mikes noggin has been shoe horned into that helmet
£250,000???? What?😮
Yup? The T16 is the Group B homologation model.

Mike, what become of your "Dream car program"???

Absolute shed
Meaning? Sorry I'm foreign
Hey Elvis theres not a stroker Crank made for that engine,
I know. I can get a top mechanic to do up cars, do all the work to them, and i can sell them at the end and take all the credit.

bore off
In france its worth other 500K
Is it just me or is the crank rusty
The journals looked fine though and that's all that really matters
Just you
French cars mostly all crap I've worked on Renault Peugeots and sadly a couple of shitreons all terrible
Depends who owned them.
The 205s and 106s drive brilliantly on any b-road, outperform anything in the same class.
Anyone else wonder why he keeps going through mechanics?
No worries
3 in 20 years isn’t many. Stop trying to make a story about nothing.
