    Thanks for sharing the full paint-thru. The most amazing imperial fist yellow I've ever seen was a light brown prime with a muted pink zenithal (magenta, black, and white ink blend) then using yellow ink over the top. No need to shadow. The undercoat does all the work since the yellow is transparent. Crazy saturated but faded beautifully.

    I miss Epic. I used to play this the most back in my youth. I had an untramarine army, loads of Imperial guard and Squats.. None of it was painted anywhere near this level! It was a very affordable and comparitavly easily paintable game compared to 40k and Fantasy Battle. I remember all the models were replaced and updated at some point meaning every vehical blister pack of the 1st generation tanks were being sold for £1 each to clear old stock from stores so for £20 or so I had a complete collection of Imperial tanks......all metal too. £1 for 3 x whirlwinds or 3 x basilisks etc realy was a bargain not to be missed. the shadowsords and super heavys were £1 for a blister pack of 2!!!

    • @BUNKER6
      @BUNKER6  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The old prices make my heart ache. But following on from your other comment about remaking Epic and it not being lucrative for GW is a tricky one. If they made it in 10mm to match the scale of AE and AT and treated it as a boxed game solely then it might work. But I doubt it is something GW would take the risk on. Maybe a very limited run? Not sure. I think epic made sense when GW was still finding its feet. Smaller models, lower risk. Their infrastructure is so big now that Epic seems more of an inconvenience than a benefit. Although I believe Epic would be an actual sensible gateway rather than Killteam into the GE hobby.

    Looks great. Have you painted a whole detachment of one chapter yet?
    I’ve mostly done Epic Ultramarine armies in the past, but working on a Blood Angels now. Future project involves splitting the original Space Marine game 8 ways with some extra units to have a mini Horus Heresy between the Ultramarines, Blood Angels, Space Wolves, Dark Angels, Word Eaters, Death Guard, Emperor’s Children, and either the Sons of Horus or Thousand Sons all painted in the color scheme on the side of the box as opposed to the revision colors. That means each chapter gets only 2 Land Raiders each but I figured that would be cool for not just variety, but to give each more attention than I normally would as I wouldn’t have many to paint.
    I even set aside parts to make mini Emperor and Horus bases lol.

    Great vid thanks and amazing result. I am not sure you have to have a gloss layer before applying oils. The oil thinners and paint don’t react with acrylics, so they won’t be damaged by oils. It’s only oil on oil that does not work because the thinners will strip any existing oil on the model when applied over an existing oil layer.

    • @BUNKER6
      @BUNKER6  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good to know! Every video I’ve watched seems to add the varnish layer so I was just following suit. I will test with no varnish though. The varnish does help the oil slip into the cracks and not stay if the surfaces though.

    • @RottenMechGaming
      @RottenMechGaming 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BUNKER6 include me in that list! I show adding a gloss varnish or I will add gloss in with the last acrylic I airbrush on before pin washing/oils. But I find the gloss is used by the pro 1/35th scale painters that want the capillary action to work flawlessly when weathering big tanks/aircraft. For our gamer small minis I have found it works fine without because there is no interaction. It’s also a matter of preference really.

    You can mitigate the poor coverage of metallics by painting the area black first (I do this everywhere a new colour will go on top of an area) then you don’t have to come back and black line later (so I get black lines between all my colours for increased definition).
    Also, why are you using such time consuming techniques on epic minis? You’d have 10 or 20 Rhinos to paint!

    I have purchased the imperator Titan, although rather expensive and I have jumped straight in the deep end as I haven’t painted since 1997, your imperator inspired me you showed it in its entirety.
    I am wondering what airbrush kit you use as I’m thinking about getting my hands on one to save time undercoating my gargants from early epic as well as my eldar titans.
    I may even link a video of my imperator so you can see

    • @BUNKER6
      @BUNKER6  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry for the late reply! Congratulations on your Titan purchase! They are still such amazing models in my humble opinion. Ok so let’s go through things, Airbrush is an Iwata Eclipse with an Iwata air compressor. Not the small fancy looking one. But the medium sized regular older tank looking one. I painted this Titan before I owned an airbrush. Just did it by hand. The red recipe is Vallejo Flat red as a base coat but the key is using transparent red over the top. Doing this with an airbrush will look even better. I have two additional titans to build up which I plan on making into episodes. One is a Warmonger and the other is a custom homemade warmonger. Hope that helps!

      @@BUNKER6 I have a quick question for you Vincent
      When you painted the eyes of the tiny skulls on the Imperator Titan did you use any kind of trick or just steady hand ? Reason I ask is because of the power tools I use I struggle to calm my hand shakes so I keep messing up the eyes

    • @BUNKER6
      @BUNKER6  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      So here is a crazy thing, someone said paint the eyes first. Then paint the rest of the head. I’d try and paint the eyes white. Be as messy as you want. The add gloss varnish over the top. Then add a yellow wash around the edges then wince dry and a smaller orange wash aiming at the edge crevasse. This should look like they’re glowing. Also if you’re still it steady you need to have both your hands firm on a table. Or atleast both your elbows. You have to buttress yourself. Also no coffee on paint days. Ha ha. Hope that helps!

    • @Southpoint2019
      @Southpoint2019 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BUNKER6 absolutely fantastic help indeed Vincent.
      I shall get the imperator out the glass cabinet and get my paints out right now. Mephiston red was the closest I could find to blood red and it turned out ok.
      I also have an ork great gargant, the one that you stack together which is the best one I think but Damn trying to figure out a colour scheme is incredibly difficult for it but it needs to have a goblin green coloured head ultimately.
