this was so famous with Jeff Porcaro drumming. i love someone put the camera on the drummer thru all of this. imagine the concentration he needed to be right on time throughout this. this is what a great drummer actually does - he is the ultimate time-keeper for the band. the drummer is kind of like the offensive or defensive linemen in football. they are rarely recognized, but if they are great the team is ready to succeed, if they fail ... not much can help the rest of the players.

One of the best drummers in Nashville. Dvaid Northup has played for many, many artists the last one being Travis Tritt. He makes it look so easy, smooth and very professional. Love to hear him play and better to watch!

Loved this since I was a kid about 8 or 9 when it came out and I never tire of listening to it. It's weird what song(s) sticks in your mind and why ? Same with Killer Queen, I remember exactly where we were driving in the car, and it stuck immediately in my brain and has remained ever since.
Simple beat on drums....but ultra hard to make it feel right...and this here does! Great job! (there is nothing simple about this song...it is deceptive)

i am a professional drummer - i used to be an amateur. when musicians have been around for a while and turn professional, this is the drummer they want. it is a team game. the amateurs are amateurs and they have their place, but the professional gets PAID.

I can't believe I missed this! I lived in Auburn Heights (now Hills) about 13 miles away from Pontiac. Unfortunately for the concert...I had moved to Florida before this happened. Fortunately for me, I don't have to deal with snow anymore.

Great video! It's so rare to get the drummer's perspective. I am not a drummer, but this vid let me focus on Mr. Northrup's excellent technique while the sound mix seemed to be from stage front.

Boz is a road dog, man. When you play every other night for 4+ decades, you have to preserve your voice. Most guys do it by riffing certain high notes a little differently. He can still do it, no doubt. But doing it 16 times per song, 5 nights a week, year after year, somethings gonna give if you don’t keep yourself healthy and alter your technique a bit

Thanks Jack. Back then I was still using Zildjians. 14” Mastersound Hi Hats, 21” K Organic Ride, 17, 19, 18” K Crashes, 17” K China and 10” A Splash.... that is if my memory serves me well. Since then I have moved to all Paiste Cymbals.

Allen, that snare is a Gretsch 6.5x14 Solid Brass. 20 Lug.. equipped with Evans Reverse Dot batter if I remember correctly.
