    Very cool. Beautifully put together too. I think it's great that you guys showed all of the little details that don't always get shown in other videos like these. The little things are some of my favorite things about hunting! Great job and thanks for sharing! I hope we get to experience something like this someday. ❤️😁

    Hola! Soy una fiel seguidora española, cazadora también. Mi familia y yo vivimos el campo y la caza como una forma de vida y nos encanta lo que mostráis. ¿Podrían poner subtítulos en español? Desde los vídeos solo me deja poner los subtítulos en inglés, no sé si esto tiene algo que ver con que en vuestra cuenta solo tenéis puesto los subtítulos en inglés. Gracias y buena caza siempre

    Putting meat in trash bags is a very bad idea. Never do this. Also invest in a vacuum packer for long term meat storage. You won’t go back. I also highly recommend caribou game bags. Look them up. Worth every penny.

    • @heroutdoorjourney
      @heroutdoorjourney  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, garbage bags can be bad. We were using regular game bags and just used the garbage bags while packing out. We left then open so they weren’t sealed and the temps were on the cooler side. Caribou bags are good. We also really like the IVAM (6am) bags. They have specific moose quarter bags that would have been great if we were in an area we couldn’t de-bone. Thanks for watching!

    • @Alaskabuilt_
      @Alaskabuilt_ 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@heroutdoorjourney try to avoid those plastic bags at all costs. If you insist on using them I’d recommend getting food grade bags. You don’t want to know how or what those trash bags are made of.

    Did u figure out why u had such issues with your rifle firing on kodiak?

    • @heroutdoorjourney
      @heroutdoorjourney  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there! I am currently working on understanding this situation, but what I believe, as of now, is that the issue with mine was a shallow strike on the primer. A combination of frigid temps, moisture, and bushwhacking. As for Emily's gun on the Kodiak hunt, her firing pin wasn't engaging at all. I believe her gun issues were from all the above including a dirty gun. She used a gun spray on the action a few days into the trip and from about then on her gun wasn't operating correctly. So, I gave her mine and finished the trip that way. We are talking about this at length over on the Soul Summit Podcast over the course of a few episodes. Full details of what happened are on episode 105 & 106.

    Great video! I noticed in this video you’re using a kifaru and on your latest video you’re using initial accent pack! I am looking for a pack for my wife and I was curious which one you preferred after using them both?

    • @heroutdoorjourney
      @heroutdoorjourney  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there! Thanks so much for tuning in, and for the question! Both packs are good quality, durability, function... you can't really go wrong with either. The KIFARU Muskeg 5000 (which I was using in the moose video) carries more horizontally for me than the Initial Ascent 6K. Meaning, to carry a loaded down pack I really have to lean into it. The IA carries more vertical and allows me a more normal gait. The other drawback to the KIFARU, in my experience, is that it creaks a lot. In its defense, it was highly abused. Summary, both companies make great packs. I would have her try a few and see what she is more comfortable in, just be sure and actually have some weight (20ish #) in it while she tries it on. I am 5'10" and about 168lbs so I don't really need a smaller frame, but if your wife is on the smaller or shorter side be sure to check out the Initial Ascent Invictus frame.

    If you're left eye dominant isn't it difficult shooting right handed?

    • @heroutdoorjourney
      @heroutdoorjourney  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not really, because that is all I have ever done since the time I was a kid. Strangely enough, I shoot my bow right handed with my right eye but both eyes open. That took a little training.
