Fantastic video. I'm well versed in suspension work, but it's always nice to get pointers for a car that's new to me as well as torque specs. Well done, thank you!
Thank you for this, the key for me was the loosening the top e-torx on the front strut to give me enough angle to get the knuckle the rest of the way down.
Amazing, thank you for showing how to attach the rear strut top hat. I also wouldn’t have thought to use the torque wrench in the pass through! It not shown in the FCP Euro vid
2 questions about jacking up. 1- How high do you initially need to jack up both front sides (for the front strut rep. work)? 2-What is the brand , weight capacity and the how high that gray silver crocodile style jack can jack? Many thanks in advance.
I watched your video and the kies motorsport video. I noticed the bump stops are different sizes for the same g20. I wonder if its a change within model years or an adaptive vs non adaptive suspension setup
Hi! Awesome video! I’ve seen videos where they don’t remove the front strut from the vehicle but instead “angling” it outside the wheel arch, then pulling off the spring. That was done on the BMW G80. All while supporting the lower arm/ breaks with a car Jack. Would that be possible on the G20/ G22 as well? Your feedback is much appreciated!
xDrive definitely can't swing the top of the strut out of the wheel well. RWD might be able to depending on how long the spring and damper are. For the F-chassis generation you could also do the F80 like the G80, but the regular 2/3/4 series the spring/damper was too long and you had to pivot the top mount out with the damper/spring.
Thank you for the reply! You were right, I wasn‘t able to get the strut to lean out of the wheel-arch of my 2022 G26 with M Sport suspension. I removed the entire strut assembly, which was only possible after reducing the bushing tension of the thrust arm. Before I completed this additional (in addition to your video) step it was not possible to push the spindle down far enough to release the strut. Maybe this is unique to the G26 and not common on the G20, just a guess Thanks again for the great content 👍
Hello, I lowered mine with H&R Spring but having some knocking noise seems that it's coming from the Top Plate and Spring when turning at parking speed. Do you have any problem or noise when turns at parking speed or slow speed? I also have spacer installed on mine. I don't hear it when I am driving, but if I am driving out from parking when I turn I will hear "knock, ... knock knock" during turning. What would case that?
I'd check all of the top mount bolts, especially the nut that secures the damper piston shaft to the top mount. That one can be tricky to torque without the right passthrough tools. Also make sure that the spring is fully seated against the stops for the rubber mounts/boot it sits on. Another thing to check would be that the end links are fastened correctly and tight to the strut bodies.
Why didn’t you install a bilstein b8 or some other damper for lowers cars, you know, like you did on your f30? Or do you think that for the 330i g20 you don’t need it? As the shocks that come with it are already specialized for lowered cars? this car is already pretty lowered and the shocks that came with it are already adapted for lowers cars? Thank you in advance for your answer.
I borrowed this car just to make the "DIY guide" video. The owner didn't have aftermarket springs or shocks to put on it. That said, I thought this "base" suspension car actually handled quite well. I wouldn't say the base suspension was very low though. If you go to aftermarket springs that are stiffer, then it'll probably be worth it to pair an aftermarket damper that has increase damping to match.
I’m installing H&R springs. They say the drop will be around 1.2 inches with my M sport suspension. Any suggestions on what bump stops to use. Thanks much appreciated
Help Needed i have a 2021 m340i xdrive a few days ago i got Silvers Coilovers installed and now i have a check engine light with Chassis Stabilization, Cross Traffic Warning and Regenerative Braking Reduced issues.
M340i has electronically controlled dampers that are now missing from your car, which is why you have the CEL. You need to either use terminators that trick the car into still seeing EDC dampers, or code the car so it doesn't expect to see EDC dampers anymore.
@@FaRKle0079 First of all thank you for taking the time to respond but i am a little confuse are you saying EDC is standard on m340i? Cause i did check the OEM suspension for any electrical connections and there is none so how does it work without any electrical connections?
@@Neil_335 hrm I thought USA M340i came with it by default. Maybe I mis-remembered. There are usually ride height sensors connected to some of the arms, make sure those are connected and in the correct orientation. In general it seems like something might not have been reconnected.
That's a QuickJack lift (www.quickjack.com/). You can order direct from the company, or a number of retailers that carry them (like Home Depot, Costco, and a bunch of online auto parts stores).

You’re legit. Hands down the best install video I’ve ever seen. You’re not located in NY by any chance are you?
Unfortunately I'm on the opposite coast.
@@FaRKle0079 We need a guy like you here on the East. Very difficult to find someone I'd trust to do this type of work.

Can you make a video for changing brake pads and rotors?
If a friend brings me their G20 for a brake change, I can make one.

Que diametro tiene el amortiguador ya que compre unos pero no entran en el hueco de la rueda!

FaRKle0079 oh I see, Ok, thank you.
How far does the strut pin (nub) go into the knuckle?
Put the strut in till it doesn't slide in any further.
You forgot to show how the car looks after lowering! Are you serious?!!
where did you bought your Hydraulic car lift, and what brand it is?
greetings from Mexico
Hi! The lift I have is a Quickjack BL-5000SLX (TL is the newer version). You can see them here: www.quickjack.com/car-lifts/
anyone know who has them in stock .?
Why to reassemble rear damper if only installing springs?
Getting ready to install lowering springs in my G20. Would you recommend changing out stock bump stops for shorter bump stops?
Thanks
Absolutely! Maintaining sufficient bump stop clearance is a key component of ride quality.

p[ease do a brake change video both rear and front thanks
