    own a 330e 2023, daily work commute of 48miles round trip. Home plug used over night, i may be fill up the petrol tank once a month if i do not do any bigger trips. Wish I had a shorter work commute D: No problems or complaints after 28k total miles/2Years. Reading a lot about other brand PHEV having huge problems...

    i bought a 2020 330e with 27k miles on it for £24,000 from BMW Sytners in April of 2024. This thing is a steal IMO. i get 25 miles with heating on in the winter, 35-40 miles in the summer. that EV range covers id say 80% of my driving in a week with free charging at work and for peanuts at home using the 3 pin socket charger on the drive over night. You get all the features with the BMW app too like preheat etc etc with timer too.
    Ive lost count how many compliments I've got on this car from men and women alike for various things about too (always makes me happy). this car can save you money, be comfy, luxurious and then also a lot of fun.
    My only gripe is overall range and boot space. but its a converted chassis it wasn't meant to be a PHEV. the new 330e recovers all that lost space with any LCI model from 2022 onwards.
    PS - mines IDENTICAL this one lol, most are that's mines going to be changed up looks wise. subbed love your video pace and style of it, commentary.

    You forgot the fuel tank also shrinks by a 1/3 too from 60L to 40L. So range wise I doubt you’d get further than a M340i tank to tank on a long run.

    • @beb1527
      @beb1527 หลายเดือนก่อน

      My range often shows 400 miles + about 20 for the electric. Yes, the M340i probably goes 450 - 500. It's not a huge difference. But in the end, owners of a 330e (such as me) fill up 1 time a month (and lots of the time, it ends up taking only 5-6 gallons), because most of our miles are on electric with daily charging. If you are driving this car long distances, can you really drive more than 5-6 hours without taking at least a bathroom break anyway? So the lower range is for most of us, not a penalty.

    • @noahmcdaniel4920
      @noahmcdaniel4920 26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Road trip range is probably the absolute smallest concern I could possibly have when buying a car, especially when it comes to actual usage, I'm getting 25+ miles a day of electric range. And also the fuel efficiency estimate are complete nonsense for the 330e. They must be measuring it when the battery capacity is completely used up. I don't know why, but when the battery capacity drops below 25%, the mpg drops massively. If you keep it above 25%, you can get 40-50+ mpg on the highway easily depending on your driving habits.

    Tax implications aside, this is far from the best 3 Series to use as a daily driver. I've driven several thousand miles in a 330e and found it to be a mixed bag. The 3 Series traits are all there - and they remain excellent - however the engine is the downside. To use one, it's only really viable if one has the ability to charge at home. Without that, range anxiety comes into the equation as one is always looking at the battery range. Unquestionably, the best all-round daily 3 Series is the M340d. Handsome, fast, fun and economical.

      3 years ago, I reserved a Mazda 3 as a rental. They gave me a 6 level upgrade to a BMW 330e (it was the prior gen). I didn't know the nuances of the car and wasn't familiar with anything. I just put it in Sport mode and drove it for 2 days. Although I had regularly driven my sons' 340i / M340i's, I did not like them enough to consider them. The 330e, in sport mode, has incredible off the line acceleration and it got over 30 MPG. I was looking for a new car. I had driven so many cars up to 50k USD and nothing impressed me, until I drove the 330e. 8 months later I bought one. I'm on 2 years now. I still drive my sons cars from time to time and I still like the 330e better. It's like owning 2 cars. Drive it efficiently, and 40 MPG is easily achievable. Drive it like a teenager and you'll have a big smile on your face.

      range anxiety in a PHEV? That makes no sense. My 330e gets 40-50 mpg on the highway in sport mode. Don't drain the battery to empty, it gets way worse gas mileage at the point. Idk why they made it like that, because the battery capacity holds more or less constant in sport mode, but that's how it works.

Also, without the battery you lose around 100bhp and it isn't good for the engine, according to BMW with whom I spoke on the matter. Unless for tax reasons or the desire for a brand new car, there is no good reason not to buy the M340d over the 330e.

    Money pit as economy is terrible and the battery costs £10k to replace

    • @noahmcdaniel4920
      @noahmcdaniel4920 26 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Lol clueless take. The economy is terrible? It costs $2-3 to charge and you get upwards of 20-30 miles a day out of it depending on driving conditions and habits. That means if you're driving less than 30 miles a day your fuel cost is comparable to a prius. It's even better if you live somewhere gas prices are higher than the US. And the mpg estimates are nonsense. If you don't drain the battery first, sport mode holds the battery constant and gets 50 mpg on the highway. Even if it didn't get better mpg than the gas version, with 20-30+ miles a day at a highly efficient cost it's going to be dramatically cheaper on fuel for almost every usecase.
      As for the battery being $10k to replace, EV batteries last upwards of 150-200k miles, and being a PHEV only a portion of your miles will be in EV mode. This trope that PHEV's are twice the maintenance is utter nonsense. You're splitting the wear and tear between two powertrains, not doubling it, which means each powertrain remains lightly used for much longer. Would you rather have a ICE/EV with 100k miles on it, or a PHEV with 50k miles on the the ICE and fuel/emissions system and 50k on the EV motor/battery. It's a no brainer. Hybrids are already known to require less maintenance and repair than ICE's, and PHEV's are even better in that regard.
