    Feminism is not about female privelege. It's equality alongside men. Equal as humans. Its a joint effort by men *and* women. It's not about overpowering men or making men into women or women into men. It's about respect for the differences while being a team of equals. It's refreshing that she mentioned redefining and destigmatizing men as caretakers.

      Although feminists like to define feminism as "equality" of the sexes, in truth, while they may preach this dogma, it is never practiced in reality. Feminists have one purpose and one purpose only, to overpower men at all costs and with as little effort as possible. Men have a myriad of issues facing them but has anyone seen feminists fighting to tackle them? That is why so many men AND women are abandoning feminists in droves, with only about 10 percent of the overall populace identifying as such. No one wants to drink their Kool-Aid.

    • @amyj4106
      @amyj4106 5 ปีที่แล้ว +38

      Hello Goodbye No..women (most feminists anyway) don't want to overpower men, they just want equality. It's only because the divide is so wide that it seems like we're screaming for more than we are, but really we just want equal terms. Except that of course men are getting so much more than women and women are receiving far less than we deserve and it's become the normal so much that people don't even realise it, they just think women are crying out for help for nothing.

    • @amyj4106
      @amyj4106 5 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Hello Goodbye And yes, women are trying to help men, there's lots of Pinterest posts that show great examples, such as asking for assault and abuse justice, equal paid leave, and equal pay with benefit an entire economy, not just men, because as we all know, money goes around and comes around.

      This is the first time i've heard a woman speak about the value of fatherhood on a broadly exposed platform. It's a huge shift from the usual feminist monologue based upon controversial propaganda and self-interest.

      @katiestolealltheunicorns9309 7 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Jean-Sébastien Harvey I don't think the average feminist would be against this kind of thing though; I would love for people not to go on about how women just wanna go away and have babies, because men would be doing the same, as is their right; this is still feminism, it is ideas and behaviors stereotypically seen as feminine being treated as necessary and universal for all.

    • @Towanda1949

      Women have supported and loved men since the beginning of time. But we are talking about thousands of years of history, myth, religion, and social order. We are talking about an evolution that values us all equally. There's nothing wrong with that once you get out of the old box of thought.

    • @jean-sebastienharvey4385
      @jean-sebastienharvey4385 7 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Gender equality is a myth, because all men and/or women being equal is a myth. What is weird to me is that we are constantly comparing ourselves to others, with our skewed and biased views and standards, and expecting others to solve our self-imposed "problems", when we should be focusing on bettering ourselves, and minding our business. There is nothing stopping any given woman from making as much, as little, or more than any given man, other than our starting points (heritage, geography), and most importantly, our drive, our skill, and our ambition... at least within a capitalist society.
      If women in general earn less than men in general, it is mostly because women take time off to give birth and raise children, while men are expected to go the extra mile to compensate as the bread-winners. By allowing men to do their fair share in caring for the children, it gives the mothers an opportunity to do their fair share in bread-winning. And if that is not enough to close the wage-gap, then i suggest that individual freedom to manage their family lives as they see fit be respected. To merely say that women earn $0.77 to every man's dollar is not right, and quite miss-leading. The gap is largely a question of choice, life-style, and a biased and unfair legal system and social dogma.

    • @jean-sebastienharvey4385
      @jean-sebastienharvey4385 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is also worth noting that if more women become successful entrepreneurs, this too will directly affect the wage-gap.

Men should also participate!!! All she says is correct- thank you

      Robert Willis - ahaha! Social state! I am amazed by your word choices!!! When the government stops funding foreign countries and focus on domestic problems then yes, we will have funding for maternity leave! When we cut welfare programs for those that are leaching and should and can work, then yes, we will have funding for new mothers and maternity leave. When we start investing here and not interfere there, then yes, we can make it work. Anything else??? We should make America a great again and that's an issue that needs to be addressed. But I applaud your energy spend commenting on this and targeting my freedom of speech. Well, done!

    Stand up from your seats really for this great and cute Ms. Anne Hathaway incredible points she raised in many aspects of life for maternity leave rules and many more.....which are ...." "Why we continue undervalue father and overburden mothers...women and men are not economically punished for wanting to be parents..live in a world where policies not based on gender...there is a deeper truth that LOVE IS LOVE and parents are parents".....What is this that this human being has made rules which are un-human in many aspects of life and now we have to raise them....anyway whatever she said is heart-touching and very important for us to implement them not only in international countries but every country because if we think today then tomorrow will be a new world of love, extra care, parents will not be burdinized, maternity leaves will not be unpaid (shame on us if we do that) and rules will not make us fools in reality.........and she looking so beautiful as always in her red dress with beautiful words.

    I love and adore Anne. Feminism at its heart is about equal treatment/opportunity/pay between women and men. That's the entirety of feminism. Anything put onto feminism which is outside of those qualifiers is no longer feminism: anger, resentment, hostility, anti-man mentalities, man-hating....those are from bitter and hostile women who seek to wrongly place their pasts, their abuse, their sorrows ONTO feminism, and usurp the noble intention of feminism by making it a spearhead for their unrelated agenda.
    In like manner, MGTOW is simply a movement of men wanting to no longer get cut in half by 120 year old divorce laws, and common law marriage laws. However, MGTOW has quickly become a magnet for abusive, hateful, self-absorbed, and woman-hating men, equally bitter, equally cruel, and equally broken as the worst types of women placing their foul nature on feminism. Anyone with intelligence can see that equal opportunities and treatment under the law is fair and wise for both women and men. Anyone. Sadly, there is far more of a problem entwined with this than just balance: the laws of this country have to be changed to allow the very balance women say they want, and that's going to move divorce laws from where they are now, to a place where men no longer get cut in half financially as the law allowed from 120 years ago. When women can support this change, they'll have the full equality they say they want, though they'll no longer be able to cash out during divorces. I guess we'll see if they want equality enough to forego that outdated and immoral practice.

    gosh all the guys in the comment section makes me laugh out of disbelief.
    how on earth can people not understand what Anne Hathaway said when she's already putting it so simply? Feminism isn't about women getting more, it's about gender equality. If anyone tell you that they're doing something because they're a feminist but they're putting down men, they're not a feminist. Then again if anyone tell you that they're doing something because they're a feminist but is putting women down, they're not a feminist.

      The very word FEMINISM rules out equality and reveals the true nature of the movement from the beginning. Why not call it EQUALITY? If I made a group called White Mens Rights, do you think people would believe it was for the good of all people as long as the so called "definition" means to make everyone have equal rights? Get out of here with that BS feminism!

    • @anwhee

      Falcon 4917 it's called Feminism because women need to be empowered and uplifted to the same rights and opportunities as men. SAME rights and opportunities as men EQUAL rights as men and women. Honestly most people's argument against feminism is merely the word not being Equality. Are you disowning a movement based on a label?

      @Falcon-mc5fs 6 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    Anne Hathaway touches on something that almost no one talks about. This thing is hardly mentioned and yet I would argue it is the foundation of the woman's freedom and equality movement. And that thing is.......male freedom in society.
    Anne zeroes in on males as caregivers and the stigma around that, but it is bigger than just caregiving. All my life I have seen men stifle their emotion to be manly or to do this and that because it is what men do. Guess who is often pushing this behavior, the women!
    Many women want men to be a certain way, and at the same time these same women fight for the freedom to be whoever they want to be. That's not right. Not only do many women fight for freedom that they withhold from there male counterparts, but on top of that they demand to have the same benefits as men when there behavior does not match. You can't have your cake and eat it.
    Ok, now that I have said all that I am actually not saying I believe in complete equality myself, I am just taking the women's freedom movement to its logical end, which is that there is no societal gender norms and every person is judged by the work they perform. Neither women nor men are bound by any restrictions by their gender, but with that comes no societal benefits of being a man or a woman. I am almost scared to write about those benefits here for fear of being called sexist, but I think you can come up with plenty of examples on your own.
    In conclusion, I would say to both men and women, is this actually what you want? Do you really want to be unshackled from gender restrictions built in our society? If you do then lets start taking those steps to get there. But right now people are ready to make the leap and don't understand that they are leaving ground behind. Ground that will be gone for a long long time. So if you understand that then ok, but don't be ignorant.

    it was very disturbing that few delegates were not even paying any attention to what anne was speaking, few were just blankly keeping their eyes at her and did not even clap...talk about women's day and gender equality.

      Everyone should pay attention and clap when a woman speaks? That's what you are saying isn't it? By your definition of gender equality, everyone should also pay attention and clap when a man speaks?

    President of the General Assembly,
    UN Deputy Secretary-General,
    Executive Director, UN Women,
    Distinguished ladies and gentlemen,
    When I was a young person, I began my career as an actress. Whenever my mother wasn’t free to drive me into Manhattan for auditions, I would take the train from suburban New Jersey and meet my father-who would have left his desk at the law office where he worked-and we would meet under the Upper Platform Arrivals and Departures sign in Penn Station. We would then get onto the subway together and, when we surfaced, he would ask me “Which way is north?" I wasn’t very good at finding North at the beginning, but I auditioned fair amount and so my Dad kept asking “Which was is north?" Over time, I got better at finding it.

    This is convincingly incredibly posit an advocacy like hers to the feminine coz hathaway has already been a mother positioned and we always have a fore thought to an familial care taker role late before we known what are all the roles does not need definition to refining while some little lively living apart from thrown meaningfully as a such ground based down to earth case to study and review to sharing like her . But about Watson ‘s one like a coronation rites to open up as awakened refurbish upon the topic core up to objectively rather than loose sensicality rather than least sensory r of scientifics Apparently , most of the time while as we staying dilemma’s might not always be being as expected This is a surprises to be meant . A true deputy / representatives like her approved by her own paradigmatic route lane scapes out a clear secondary is to borrow Emma’s a god starting up to disclose that women mostly position is maternity That I s cannot be denied Thanks Emma and Hathaway uses in practical and a vanguards . As a sign , women lost everything when marriage crisis must never stop that’s a Troy in reality . 想變美好不含罪

The obsession women have with what only affects them would be an excellent place to start. By every measurable indicator it is men who are falling to pieces. Women's demands on welfare and medical research resources (80% in the US) would be another
