Can you explain to me why so many super successful artists of today, and the past, were women? If men are not allowing women to have success? Madonna, Rihanna, Miley, Tina Turner, Alanis Morissette, Sheryl Crow.. I mean the list is huge. Madonna is one of the biggest selling artists of all time and she started in the 1980s. And Swift herself went Platinum at age 19 and won countless awards from the music business (Grammys etc). So how did it conspire to stop her success? She never complained at all about how her management and record label let her go about presenting her music pretty much how she wanted... not once until now. Just the opposite.. she used to regularly heap praise on Big Machine and Scott and all the people working with her to make her a success. I don't get it...not much of what she says makes much sense. And at the end of the day, it is the public who decides what they want to buy... have you ever bought a record you didn't want to buy? Right.. you didn't. So artists just have to make music that people want to buy and they will be successful.. MAN OR WOMAN.
And I'll make another point. There are many who would say the only reason Swift has become so successful is because the music industry has relentlessly promoted her and propelled her to the top. I don't completely agree with that because she has brilliant musical talent, but a lot of people who don't make it (male or female) also have talent. So it does not add up that the music industry is against women. Of course there are sharks and ruthless exploitative business practices in the industry, but they are applied equally against men just as much as women. At the end of the day to the business people it is about making money, and I really don't think they care about whether the artist is male or female. Taylor has a beef with a couple of particular men.. and she seems to have projected it across the whole industry. And I say again.. people buy what they want to listen to.. and music has never been more easily accessible through the internet.. and I see as many female artists as male. So where exactly is the misogyny? Serious question.
Everyone is talking about how the audience is so silent, but I think that's actually more respectful, they're actually listening to what she has to say. This is not a concert, it's a speech.
Honestly this whole speech was such a power move. She spoke for 15 minutes and was not getting off that stage. Her role in the industry may change in her 30’s but if ones things for sure she is not going away anytime soon.
“I would tour constantly. I would work on my vocals every day and perfect my stamina in a live show”. And 4 years later, we have the greatest stadium tour of all time. We did it, Taylor 🥺
I love love love the fact that she calls out Scooter Braun, not even privately but straight up says it. Another reason why she is one of the strongest pop artists in history. Ariana has to look over that contract and get out as soon as possible. Two inspirational women can't be stepped on.
I'm the biggest Ariana / Taylor fan and it makes me sad Ariana is with him, not only because of what happened with Taylor but he is such an asshole is unbelievable 🥺
Ana Valois literally omg. did you hear that he forced her to release ghostin? the song about mac. which is why she never sings it nor does she even PLAY IT. he’s horrible.
Diana • I know about the song I’m a huge arianator I just didn’t know what all the drama was about. Thanks for letting me know! Also I heard something about Ariana’s contract with him or something. Do you know anything about that?
this speech is so empowering and optimistic. i CRIED when she mentioned how the next woman of the year is probably at a piano lesson or a girls choir. it gives us so much hope and strength to keep going with passions and dreams.
Did the room not listen to her words properly. She’s saying all the right things and the audience are giving her nothing. That should be the best award she ever receives and replied with a powerful speech and the room isn’t getting it or supporting her enough
It's probably because this was an industry event filled with corporate types, execs, producers, maybe some artists - but no adoring fans. Un-televised events like this are more solemn than Sunday service.
As a lifelong session player and having toured with many great artist I can condense this all down to one word: PATRIARCHY! End of story. You can be sure that there were many women and some men in that audience that were screaming, “YES!” inside, but are still too afraid to show it in a public arena. I hope that we can FINALLY start treating women who are also artists/musicians with the respect and dignity they all SHOULD NOT HAVE TO FIGHT FOR 👊🏻❤️👊🏻
I mean, in a really formal event, you don't clap your hands or give the one on stage any distraction, they don't make noise before the one on stage finished. They will give reactions after the one presenting/the one giving a speech is done.
Is noone gonna mention how great of a public speaker she is? She just pulled out a 15 minute speech and spoke fluently off by heart and it was awesome!
Not only was she great in the 2010's, but she is also amazing in the 2020's. Folklore, Evermore, Midnights, the re-recordings. If she keeps it up, she can win two woman of the decade awards back-to-back.
@@franny7997 yeah, that's exactly why she does that. Because she doesn't want to speak to us like she's "famous" or above us. It's a way of showing humbly/modesty
If taylor stays silent people says she's a coward and now that she's addressing all the important issues and how she's been treated people says she's dramatic.
I love how Taylor is so chill and casual with her speech. She just laughs at her mess ups and ignores the awkward moments. This is the kind of celebrity we need now.
“lately I’ve been focusing less on doing what they say I can’t do and more on doing whatever the hell I want.” *drops a folk album with less than a day’s notice*
@@nunyahpprinter I'm not entirely sure what you're asking but on July 24 Taylor released a surprise album, Folklore, written entirely during the pandemic
I hope she starts her own label someday and mentors the younger artists through their own success and careers all while she continues to contribute through her songwriting. I feel like she would be great at that.
Actually that was her plan ever since if she ever retire in the future! Mentor young talents specially young girls she's gonna be looking out for protogeee I know cos were that close me and tay solid never liquid and our friendship will never evaporate like gas 😁😁😁
Honestly, as I get older, I understand her a lot more. She’s very brave and strong. I used to dislike her because of the internet, without even listening to her side of the story. Now I regret it.
Isn't it funny how we were told by people to hate her...for no reason other than her being a successful artist. I remember coming across so many comments just bashing her. But, now that I'm older I understand her better and feel bad that I disliked her for no reason.
This entire comment thread has shown major character development ❤ people can appreciate life so much more once they keep their prejudices and judgements aside
I automatically smiled at those references..I think some of them got it..but i don't think they will dance in a towel with a toilet paper crown on head and shout"i got it Taylor.wooohooo"...
I truly don’t think there’s anyone more qualified to talk about this subject than Taylor. And no one more deserving of this award. My forever inspiration😌
I mean she is talking in emphasis way and always people usually sit silently and listen. Using a deeper and emphasis voice that she used in that silence people would be silent and listen. I'm not good at explaining it but it's just the way she talks that everyone is moved and is kinda into it that they forget to clap. Yes it happens 😅 people do that intentionally maybe she didn't but it happened
People there are not fans but people in the industry. This is a formal event. Like an warding ceremony. You don't scream "OH MY GOSH TAYLOOOR!" there. It's formal. It's already great that they're laughing once in a while and clapping their hands.
I really appreciate taylor including Lana Del Rey in her speech. It is really understated how she really is so influential in music, and paved the way and inspired so many amazing and talented artists
I really like her. She really matured so well before she turned 30. She's smarter, stronger, and more socially aware so fights for her beliefs. She's a well-rounded artist and as she said, smart businesswoman. All the best to TS and hope she finds the person that makes her happy and greatest version of herself.
My friend is a sound engineer for this event, when someone was speaking they didn’t play the role audio, only the audio from the mic was picked up. That’s why when she pauses you can’t hear anything, the entire crowd has to react in order to hear it. So the audience wasn’t being disrespectful, they were listening. Also, Taylor usually gives speeches at award shows where she has tons of fans who laugh and clap nearly every sentence, this is why she is pausing, she’s used to it. It’s not because she is thinking everyone should clap or expecting it, it’s just habit.
"Why are woman doing so well this decade?"... She is very much right. Taylor swift, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande broke multiple records in the last decade and are some of the biggest artist in the world. Taylor have sold the most tickets and made the most money out of her reputation tour. Katy Perry have 6 billboard number 1 songs. Ariana debuted 3 number 1 songs. Lady Gaga have the fastest sold album on apple music and released the most awarded song in music history.
@Raven • that's really upsetting. I hate how females are expected to serve vocals, looks, choreo and songwriting or they get hated on for lacking one of these things. Meanwhile a guy can just stand and sing and make subpar music and he'll be successful as hell, especially if he's hot.
helen kareem idk about you guys but that one isn't really as big as other incidents so it might not even reached her or she may not even heard about that before
Lizzo, Rosalía, Hayley Kyoko, Sigrid, Normani, Ella Mai, Dua Lipa, Halsey, Camila Cabello, King Princess, Nina Nesbitt, Maggie Rogers, Princess Nokia, Becky G, Tayla Parx, Megan Thee Stalion, H.E.R. and Billie Eilish. These are the women that are here to continue to show everybody how female artists are great artists all together. They deserve every bit of success they achieve. I love them all. And Taylor Swift is the best example of how every woman stands up for herself and defends her work, decisions and point of view
Taylor has always been far smarter, savvier, and tougher than she gets credit for. She's also a class act who uses her power and fame and money for good in the world. Some of her music I really like, some I don't so much, but I love her and I cheer whenever I see she's broken a new record with tour attendance numbers or weeks on the charts (that week when all top 10 songs were hers - wow). This speech is fire. Even when she knows she'll face criticism or worse - invalidation - she fights back.
from “I’ve been focusing less on what they say I can’t do and more on doing whatever the hell I want” to “I’m doing good I’m on some new shits, been saying yes instead of no”❤️

Taylor is accomplished but, awwards mean very little. I mean, especially music awards. The Grammys are the most prestigious but they can't even categorize consistantly. In 2015-2016 I think it was? Florence + the Machine were nominated for... Best Rock package, best rock song, best rock performance, best live performance, Best Pop Vocal album? ( 3 rocks and then just . . . Pop? ) and to top it off they lost to Taylor Swift on a VOCAL album. If it were like say . . . just POP album where voice didn't come into play? I'd not complain but Taylor doesn't have any vocal strengths technically speaking? Taylor's strength is her tone and guitar skills. Her falsetto is glorified sighing. Florence has the strongest female falsetto in the business currently and is an amazingly strong belter, where as belting is at the bottom of Taylor's skill list. Florence also has the best breath control in the business right now and can sustain and weave lengthy notes that crescendo or descend massively in seconds for LONG periods of time. There literally isn't a single vocal area where Taylor is superior. It's not even a dig, it's like comparing Selena Gomez to Sia. Selena has songs I LOVE. They're easy to listen to and super flirty, chill but obviously even if you don't like Sia it's obvious the better singer is Sia.
people really criticize her for shading here, well if someone tries to ruin your hard work and the standard you've reached in about 13 years, i bet you your ass you'll hate them forever. she had the decency to be nice. i love her so much.
Yeah why should she be polite when so many people stole from her and tried to tear her down? People metaphorically speaking poked a hornet's nest then made a surprise Pikachu face when they got stung
9:59 the pain in her voice when she talked about her music being sold without her consent and now in 2023 she own three out of the six stolen versions. I AM SO SO SO PROUD OF HER. WE LOVE YOU TAYLOR
Wow, i didnt realise how much she proved people wrong every time she was criticised. People still use the same insults like, she dates a lot, even though shes been with the same guy for 3 years. I LOVE that she's embraced the fact that she can't please everyone and not everyone will be fair with her. So she's just going to keep being a boss, breaking all the records, making the most money and doing her thing! Congrats to her for ALL her insane accomplishments in the last decade. Regardless of your opinion, you cant deny the facts. She's has topped and changed the music industry, being at the top of her game for a WHOLE decade. That is impressive!
I’m watching this in 2023 and it’s still so empowering and inspiring by a female artist who’s been hated by people in the past two decades. She’s proven that female artists can create things in the music industry. After she dropped Midnights I started listening to the album and I fell in love with the creative process and visuals in the songs and music videos. She isn’t only the women of the decade she IS the music industry and won’t be stopped for creating and producing music that us Swifties will continue to support her!!!
I thought that she was adored and record breaking in the US. Only for the feud and jealousy of K. West. I never thought she was hated. In Europe, she's not that well known to be honest. We know her as the Americana girl, very successful but not in our music field cause of country.
I agree Taylor has got a lot of unwarranted hate .. which is ridiculous, she is a musician - not a politician! I am a huge fan - but this notion that she "proved that female artists can create things in the music industry" is honestly total nonsense. Believe it or not Taylor was not the first successful female artists. Not by a long shot. There have been THOUSANDS of super successful female musicians going back decades. Tina Turner. Madonna. Alanis Morrisette. Celine Dion. J-Lo. Beyonce. Rihanna. The list is HUGE. I am not convinced that females get any more crap from record companies and execs etc. than many male artists. Most of the things that Taylor is talking about applies to male artists and bands (remember that the majority of acts are not solo - so could be a mix of male and female.) and I have heard the same complaints from male artists. Prince literally called himself a "slave" .. which was a bit pretentious and embarrassing, but super successful artists moaning about the industry that gave them their success is nothing new.
@@zx7-rr486I don't think you understand how big of a thing watching your hard earned music get stolen feels like. None of the artists own their music but they never speak about it because they like to be adored by the companies or maybe they aren't talented enough. But Believe me it's 2023 and Taylor Swift is still getting criticised for her nusic & people are still undermining her talent because she's white. She has spoken about voting, equal wages to artists, lgtq and everything that needed to addressed not because of a 'trend' but because she considers it her duty to be on the right side of the history and to influence people in the right way. but if still you consider that she isn't 'woman of the decade ' you are just biased. Ps: She didn't say all male artists are living happily or something. we're here talking about female representation & how women are ridiculed for anything they do
@@ananyabaldotra I don't think you understand how the music industry works at all. Nearly all artists own the rights to their songs. It's the RECORDINGS they generally don't own because, believe it or not, the record company fronts large amounts of money to pay for the recording studio, the producers, the sound engineers, the mix engineer, the session musicians, the promotion, the production of physical media .. etc. etc. Because they pay for virtually everything up front, the record label insists on owning the rights to the RECORDINGS, not the songs (which are usually intellectual property of the song writer). So when you say "hard earned music", the record company would say, "yes, the hard earned music that WE paid for all the hard work to get done making it". That's how it works .... You see when Taylor makes these speeches, it doesn't explain the detailed realities, and of which you know nothing, clearly.
5,000 Subscribers without any video challenge Now this is why I love Taylor the mostest -speaks the truth with heart intelligence..GO TAYLOR GOOOOOOOOO❣️
I admire her so much for bringing up Lana. Lana and Taylor are some of the best song writers and artists of our generation yet all yall wanna do is put these women against each other and cause fan wars and bring them down. Why can’t we empower women and appreciate that both of these women are so talented. Don’t you dare call yourself a feminist if you run a Stan twitter account where you degrade and tear down women. This speech was everything
Exactly... When Wildest Dreams came out loads of people were bashing Taylor as the chorus of WD sounded similar to Without Me by Lana. Taylor actually talked to Lana beforehand about the song yet people acted so petty about it and made it seem like a Lana VS Taylor war or something.
Right... so what's that got to do with the patriachy then? I thought Taylor was blaming eveything on men... not female fans of another female artist. I'm confused ... 😄
I'm a metalhead by nature, but Taylor Swift is my guilty pleasure. 'Shake It Off' is pure pop perfection. She is one very smart individual and deserves every ounce of her success.
Taylor always introduces herself. She never presumes someone just knows who she is. When you meet someone knew you introduce yourself.. because that's what normal human beings do. And she's just a normal human being. It grounds her and shows how humble she is.
She literally introduces herself just to hear everyone applaud. I hate to say that but it's so obvious. She's so used to saying, "Hey I'm Taylor!" just for the reaction.
@skriver model josephen It means that this guy is being nice to everyone not because he is nice necessarily, but more because he has other interests such as money....
I love the fact that Taylor is so frank and frontal…that’s rare and valuable and I stand by her and support her, they did her wrong and she should still continue to speak loudly defending her rights
This is the type of speeches people don't know they needed. The topics she tackles are so relevant, she speaks eloquently while making sure it's brilliantly simple, and of course as an easygoing person she speaks without such force or ranting or a sense of entitlement, unlike Kanye West who desperately tries too hard in everything including shading her all the time. He's the real snowflakes.

Glad you mentioned that. Great point although Kim still claims that the full taped conversation still doesn't change the narrative of the edited version she put out. Ah, yes it does, Kim. Like da! Lmao!😂
I love what she said about Reputation. “Oh im being cast as a villian to you? Heres an album called reputation there are snakes EVERYWHERE” The way she dropped the album and finally gave the people who wanted her to change the finger and fed into the title to show people how little she cared will never not be iconic
From her songs We Are Never Ever Ever Getting Back Together (like... Ever), 22 'we're happy free confused and lonely in the best way' , and Daylight (once believed love would be ect ect but it's golden like daylight)
Let's also talk about how she spent this entire speech proving how empathetic and supportive she is of all the other women in the industry(she listed so many spectacular names). Besides her music, this is what makes her women of the decade, supporting other women and artists.
I love how almost 140,000 men died in America last year from suicide or drug overdoses and we have this billionaire woman on stage proclaiming how she was wronged purely due to her being a woman; I especially liked the part in which she petulantly scolded the person that aold her music to another person when she herself sold it in the first place. Again, I will repeat that almost a full percentage of men in America died from suicide or drug overdoses - but they are just so darn privileged. It's fucking insanity.
@@laniefeleski7288 If men are suicidal, it's Taylor's fault now? Fuck out of here with this clown shit. You are clearly taking shit about her without being properly informed. Besides she's not even a billionaire to begin with. Get your facts straight low life hater.
@@laniefeleski7288 men suicide due to deug overdose is now taylor's fault. She thanked female support because this show was specifically for women , "women in music". If you read the title.
I’m not her fan, but i think she’s really something else. She’s so talented and smart business woman. As we all know, she’s a great artist, but also she’s a great business woman. I can’t even believe there’s such a perfect human on this planet.
Taylor Swift is such a beautiful soul. She really has changed a lot in the industry that people don't even know about. That I'm just finding out about now. I just love how she is herself and she Embraces her flaws. I've seen videos of her during her concerts when something didn't go right or she didn't sing the song the right way and she'll stop and tell everyone her mistake and she'll do it over again instead of just pretending like it didn't happen. She laughed that herself which we all should do because none of us are perfect. I just think that she's just a incredible woman. No I'm not a Swifty like a bazillion people are. I do enjoy her music but I do appreciate how real she is and she doesn't take her fame or her money to her head and think that she's better than anyone else. She Embraces her flaws like I said and a lot of people with the type of Fame that she has will try and look perfect. So Taylor Swift you totally deserve this award you are a Class Act a beautiful woman and you have such a beautiful heart. I know you're on your concert for right now and I heard that in every city that you play in you give so much money to the agencies in the city to stock up the food bank for at least a year. And I heard that the bonuses that you give your employees that are touring with you are humongous. There really needs to be more people like you in this world. You have so much money and so much Fame yet you use that to help stock up food banks in the cities that you have your concert in and that just is so heartfelt. I just don't understand how people like Kanye West and Kim Kardashian and all these other haters have come at you with negativity when they cannot even compete to be the type of person that you are. So ignore the haters and continue to be a beautiful, kind-hearted and generous person that you are. Congratulations
“Of course he is nice to you. If you are in this room, you’ve got something he needs.” If you have ever had a Scooter Braun in your life, you know what she means.
She's telling her story and how she got to this point. Like her or not, she has earned every award she's received. She's strong, smart and beautiful and so talented!! Best to You, Taylor Swift!
I came here after reading a male reviewing this speech as "Out of place and not needed in a night like that. It was about celebrating women and she ruined it" And I just can't believe the cheek of that person. Taylor is receiving an award as Woman Of the Decade and she's just telling the truth about how she's been treated as a woman in that industry during the last 10 years. Nothing more and nothing less. It's just easier to say that she was out of place than to accept to change a male-dominant system. As women, I am sure every single one of us can relate. Maybe it was in school, maybe at work, but at some point, we all felt powerless and used because the system doesn't see us as equal as men. Accepting this award without saying a thing would have meant just being part of the system. Take this award, so you can shut up about not having the same opportunities or the same power as a man. Say thank you, smile, and let us judge you by how skinny you were that night, and what you were wearing in peace, bitch. I was too young to see it before, but Taylor is been treated like garbage by the music industry just because she's talented as hell and beautiful. People can't stand a woman having so much power, talent, and beauty all at the same time. It makes a lot of people feeling inadequate, especially men. And I am saying all of this without being a fan of her music, I am saying this as a woman that has been through the same crap as hers, just in a way smaller way because I am not famous. My female friends went through the same stuff, and our only guilt is being ambitious women. Sorry for how long this is, but I am done with this crap. We need equality.
So I watched the miss Americana and dude you see what she went through and really is fighting to better herself for herself, I think we all go through it but the number of people who were hating on her just because of what others say is just wrong. We as humans need to do us. Don't follow the crowd. I'm so impressed by her character, very awesome women.
Honestly my favorite thing I ever heard about taylor is when she was in an interview and she said that people were saying she writes too much of her exes so she came out with blank space and then everyone was calling her a snake and then she came out with reputation. Love it
I was a Taylor Swift fan back in her country music days and I was always hoping for her success. I was one of those who was saddened when she went completely pop, but who knew that was only the beginning of her struggle behind the scenes as she grew. It's wonderful to see how much she has achieved and it's amazing that she is speaking out about such important things about her industry experience. This speech was so special and it needed to be said. Well done Taylor 👏
Taylor acknowledging the legendary impact of Lana Del Rey makes my soul so happy as a fan of them both and hopefully this will boost Lana's chances at the grammys
@@rightfirepolitics986 Glad you've worked in every career. And the fact that women get paid less proves it's like that in almost every career so try again.
@@minxymoo2325 Actually the pay gap is a myth. What they did to get the numbers they have is grab all what women make and throw it into one pile. Then they grabbed all that men make and threw it in another pile. So by stat more men were working stem careers and becoming doctors and also going through trades. While more women were becoming nurses or secretaries and also going on maternity leave. So on a number basis men made more over the entire gender. But doesn't mean every man makes more in the same career. It's actually illegal by law to pay one person less than the other. And no I haven't worked every career but in first world countries women have equal rights to men and what feminism is doing now is trying to get more rights. Which they do when it comes to some things. By law women get children custody more often and they also can choose to kill their baby (abortion) and the father has no say by law. And women also get lower prison sentences for the same crimes and there is hundreds of domestic abuse shelters for women and I think only a few for men in the united states and Canada. Equality has been reached to the best we're going to get. We should really be focusing on women in third world countries that are facing genital mutilation and child marriage (females) equating to child rape.
@Wilfy Martinez It's funny that that's your best response. If you looked close enough at my picture you'd be able to tell I'm not that old. I'm Gen Z and am 19. But now I know you follow emotion before fact 👏👏👏
6:06 I always thought that Lana del Rey has been one of the biggest voices in music of this years. She broght something completely new to the game. I love that Taylor thinks the same way.
I have always appreciated her music but I have never truly realized her strength, eloquence, grace, and intelligence before this past year. Taylor Swift is a true inspiration to all who will give her the time of day. This speech was beyond necessarily in formulating the message that women have always been and continue to be refused the chance that men have in the music industry. Music is art. And people only criticize art because they cannot understand it. They won’t. This is such a beautiful display of women uplifting women regardless of the way our patriarchal society measures women against each other on the basis of beauty, talent, status, and wealth. For too long women have been told that their worth can be and is only measured by their beauty and politeness which is code for “humbly accepting and allowing the continuation of the stereotype that men deserve success and women must prove themselves worthy of it.” Throughout her years as a public figure, she has experienced criticism, shame, unprovoked slander, and outright bullying, and has become the thing impotent men have feared the most. An icon. She has powered through the abuse and has risen from the ashes of pure hate as a phoenix. She is the woman of the decade. And yet, she still manages to recognize the achievements of her “competitors.” Taylor has always been an inspiration since the age of 16 and has never lost her humility, intelligence, grace, or eloquence. Us women are more than our status and beauty. She has proven that time and time again. Hopefully now people will listen.
The way she narrated all of the choices she made to accommodate those who had negative things to say about her. I'd never thought of the way she's done that her entire career. And the way that years ago she'd already started thinking of the next generation of artists because of her own experiences. So sad and so emotional.
APRLV When has she ever not thanked her family, friends, fans, band, dancers, backup singers, recording studio, and more? She invites her fans to her home to listen to music and she writes songs for them and about them. She always shows support for others when some don’t show that same respect to her. Get off your high horse and stop with the “I hate Taylor Swift” campaign because quite frankly, no one cares and she is obviously doing just fine and yes, she does get the recognition that she deserves. But she doesn’t brag about it and rub it in the faces of other people, she thanks the people that make everything possible for her.
@XTMorin365I know this was commented a year ago but I’m just extremely confused about your own arrogance. Your comments feels majorly misguided, and none of it quite makes sense. It is her award, that she’s winning, on behalf of herself, so of course she’s going to celebrate the hard work she’s put in to get there. She’s written and performed her own music, and she worked hard to get to where she is now - so it’s kind of obvious she’s going to congratulate herself on that. However, she didn’t just talk about herself. She spoke about dozens of other female artists that also worked hard to get to where they are, and thanked them for their hard work in the industry as well. As for shifting all the blame for everything that’s ever happened to her onto somebody else - every bad thing she brought up WAS the fault of somebody else? She spoke about constantly being torn down by the media, which is in fact the media’s fault and not her own. She spoke about her music being sold without her knowledge, which is in fact not her fault. It feels like people like you hop on the internet just to spread unnecessary hate and anger into places where you shouldn’t even be. You’re not obligated to like her, that’s totally okay. So why are you on a video solely about her responding to her fans to make them feel bad? Sounds like a very lonely and sad waste of your time. Find a hobby instead of spreading negativity about a woman who has struggled and worked hard to be where she is today.
@JaysonM695 Addressing problems and the fact that they require solutions is not negativity, and ignoring them certainly isn't positivity. She was not boasting, rather sharing an experience. A speech in which one shares their experiences in an honest and raw way is much more interesting and thoughtful than a speech where one credits all their success to others in order to appease people like you. At the end of the day, Taylor Swift is responsible for Taylor Swift's success and she should be allowed to say it. Male artists center their speeches around themselves constantly, which is not what she did anyways, but receive no backlash for it. She addressed problems which need to be solved in order to make the music industry a place where young artists can own their own music. She took time out of a speech about herself to defend artists who have been harmed by the industry. I'm so sorry that we no longer live in a time where women must credit their success to men, or stand by while their hard work is taken from them.
This speech is literally mirrorball.

This is not a speech. This is the journey of a female artist in the music industry.
get a life loser
super profound.
They both can be true at the same time. It's not an either/or.
What Taylor said is really correct. History is repeating, Billie is getting a lot of hate, cause she achieved success beyond people's comfort level.
Yes, Taylor earned 850 Million $ the past 10 years and Billie (only 18) 100 Million $ in 3 years, thats above the comfort level of some.

Best Rock package, best rock song, best rock performance, best live performance, Best Pop Vocal album? ( 3 rocks and then just . . . Pop? )
and to top it off they lost to Taylor Swift on a VOCAL album.

Exactly... When Wildest Dreams came out loads of people were bashing Taylor as the chorus of WD sounded similar to Without Me by Lana. Taylor actually talked to Lana beforehand about the song yet people acted so petty about it and made it seem like a Lana VS Taylor war or something.

I scream, thought you were Lizzo
I love how almost 140,000 men died in America last year from suicide or drug overdoses and we have this billionaire woman on stage proclaiming how she was wronged purely due to her being a woman; I especially liked the part in which she petulantly scolded the person that aold her music to another person when she herself sold it in the first place. Again, I will repeat that almost a full percentage of men in America died from suicide or drug overdoses - but they are just so darn privileged. It's fucking insanity.

6:06 I always thought that Lana del Rey has been one of the biggest voices in music of this years. She broght something completely new to the game. I love that Taylor thinks the same way.
I think we all do. Young & Beautiful is such a treasure amongst many of her incredible songs.
For too long women have been told that their worth can be and is only measured by their beauty and politeness which is code for “humbly accepting and allowing the continuation of the stereotype that men deserve success and women must prove themselves worthy of it.”
Throughout her years as a public figure, she has experienced criticism, shame, unprovoked slander, and outright bullying, and has become the thing impotent men have feared the most. An icon. She has powered through the abuse and has risen from the ashes of pure hate as a phoenix. She is the woman of the decade. And yet, she still manages to recognize the achievements of her “competitors.”
Taylor has always been an inspiration since the age of 16 and has never lost her humility, intelligence, grace, or eloquence.

@Jayson M you’re just copy pasting your comments have fun hating on FEMALE OF THE DECADE
