Watching this documentary a day after the young life of Kiptum was dimmed from this life at only 24 years 😢 💔 😪 😔 so suddenly and untimely. Aah such loss.
Nobody knows about his/her tomorrow, just as we were wanting for Kiptum to break another record this year, we receive news that he is no more. Life is useless. Once you are gone its over, only memories will remain R.I.P
Yes, their training was quite similar and so too was their performance. Both also have similar genetics, but Kiptum was much younger...probably a bit quicker to recover and hence able to sustain higher mileage at similar intensity levels. I think though that this is reflected in the critical difference in their training: the fact that Kiptum was doing essentially two marathons per week and Eliud only one (their 40 km tempo runs). I would also say that in terms of training effect-benefit, these tempo runs are the most important for marathoners. The other training they do is just "filler" with the exception perhaps of the track sessions when they push themselves to faster than marathon pace, sessions tending to stimulate an increase in their max aerobic power.
It has a simple reason they run only two marathons a season like many other pros. It's the weather conditions it would be not ideal to run in summer or winter. You saw Kipchoge struggle during Tokyo due to rather warm and humid conditions.
Gret speed for football player but we cannot compare it with track and field athletes especially the sprinters, sprinters on different level. Thanks for the comment 🙏
Kiptum death it's a unbearable thing... I awake in that day and hard to believe what happens...no words to say how run world lost with his passed away!
Kiptum would have definitely broken 2 hours, but his super high mileage would have prevented him from having a career as long as Kipchoge's. Supposedly Kiptum ran as much as 185 miles per week.
Kelvin Kiptum has a huge advantage his height. He is about 5 to 10 cm taller then many professional marathon runners from Kenya, Ethopia or Uganda. Even 12 cms taller then Eluid Kipchoge this is can make a difference too like it for Usian Bolt.
@@kduty236 Yes, but don't forget that a lot of world class and best enduarnce athletes are relativly short like bekele , Gebreselassi and kipchoge. but also this is not a general rule to take, you can find also taller on the other side who are very fast. but for me it's all about genetics and a lot of human interventions and technology. 🙏

Maybe but need some research and more studies to confirm that, for sprinters it's valid and correct. Thank you for your comment @paxundpeace9970
@@RunnerUniversemore specifically to the length of muscle tendons etc. may be very influential
