It is not there are a few pieces this video does not have. For examole there are 2 plastic pieces connected to the door that I cant remove. In this video he already took them off or just broke the piece
"It is not there. There are a few pieces ....". I am about to do my 2002 front window glass. Would appreciate learning what you discovered @youndrrago2979. I will trade you info on the rear glass. :)
Recently did this on a 2012 golf tdi Driver's side rear door, the lock mechanism quit working and key less entry would not lock this door. The window regulator is riveted in on these models. Quite a bit of work just to repair the electronic door lock mechanism. Probably close to a $1000 repair including parts had I taken it to the dealer. Rumor has it VW has not come up with a fix for the pre Urea injected diesels and will be forced to buy them back, or rather the owners will be forced into the buy back I'm hoping this is not the case I love mine bought it brand new 100,000 trouble free miles. Vag Com is a must for the fuel filter changes, I think VW could have created a better system to purge the air out of the fuel system this is most likely the reason for failed Injector pumps, as I'm sure you well know. keep up the good work and updates for the Diesel guys the last update was very informative and much appreciated...
Hello from Europe. After I remove 10mm bolts the metal panel is still attached. I don't know how to remove it. Window motor is working but the window is not going all the way up.
How do you remove the electrical connector for the door latch? Where is the pressure point to release the clip? The front top, middle or bottom of the clip?
It took me almost an hour to find the pressure release point for this on the passenger rear-door. I just don’t understand. He makes it look so easy in the video 😅
Charles, you're a legend man, Thanks for all these Valuable tips, only thing is,,why isn't there like 2 Billion thumbs up and likes ?? 🤔,,take care and please keep on posting more nuggets, Bless 😇
How do you replace the yellow part, or is that not possible? I found one on ebay but cant get the last silver bolt off the yellow electric winder crank thing
Thanks good vid but the only bit i revisited for doesn’t show the bit between the after markt speaker comment to actualy removing the panel .. as mine seems reluctant to pull away although it feels wobbly / lose..!? Thanks ✌️
question for you. i would like to start my schooling in the fall. my concern is that i do have a criminal record violent misdemeanors on it. would that make it difficult to find work with reputable service shops or would it be a waste of time and money to go to school for this profession.
I suspect if you remove the motor, you can wiggle the glass down. I like cranks. Cycle the electric motor a few times a year to been the contacts/roator/stator shinny. People must check all the windows before the warrenty runs out. I have no clue how the motor knows when to stop going up or down. The toothed timing belt on a crank/cam shaft needs to be done correctly. A window? Ignorance I admit.
The DS window on our 2018 Atlas rattles when down, you can even jiggle it between the dew wipes... Is there a chance the regulator became loose or broken? Not wanting to pay the dealer $150 to look inside so I'll tackle that.
Humble mechanic, I recently parted out a mk4 golf and several people contacted me regarding the rear door lock mechanism and needed to replace it but the door was unable to be opened .....video suggestion?
Hey man the electrical connector for the door latch on my car is completely stuck and won’t just slip out like yours did. Is there any other way I can pull it out? It’s just not budging and I don’t wanna break it

Charles I'm at my limit of patience with these B5 regulators. My 3rd one in 6 months broke again today. This time the plastic Clips broke and the window fell down in the door. I already went online. Another $70 down the tube on this money pit. I can just replace the plastic clips from eBay but I'm not wasting my time with that. Did that before and then two months later the cable snapped. It's a good car. But Vw failed at building regulators that hold up.
Heya, any chance you might do a Eurovan power regulator removal. Kinda problematic. Rock Auto does have a rebuild service (rather than $500) Isuue for us in the shade is getting the cable type out. thanks man
Hey Charles, how do you reattach the rear window to the window regulator on the mk4 golf. They use the two piece plastic shims but they are so hard to reinsert and realign. In there are special tool thst allows youbto do the job better.
2002 Jetta wagon has one plastic plug/pin on the rear window. Getting it out is with a bolt, so the pictures show/say. As for reinserting, the larger plug goes in the hole fairly easily. The inner pin, which expands the plug, can be started by hand. You only have to get in a little way in, and can push with the handle of the screw driver. The secret IS that when you lose your nerve to fear of breaking the glass, since you want the pin to be flush, use a C-Clamp which slowly pushes the pin the rest of the way. Since the back side of the C-clamp is resting on the back side of the plus, there is no pressure on the glass itself. It's done on the bench/table before the window is inserted. 2024 Pennsylvania. Don't destroy the plug/pin removing them. My mechanic / adviser said you will never find a replacement.
Bro good evening,I have a question please. In a Vw T5 its same procedure? I need change central lock of right door but also have that dismantle all window and inside panel same you. Do you belive that its the same procedure bro? Thanks for your channel!!
My first car was a Lloyd. The word yellow has like 17 letters in it on the wiring diagram. This has nothing to do with anything else, except, VW uses the word "regulator" here, and also for the mechanical part with holds the rear window the crank is connect to with a cable. (use a C-clamp to inset the pin through the glass on a 2002 jetta). I wonder if the Engineers ever consider that someone has to repair items. DYI is not easy using non-specific instructions. But, as @youngdrago2979 writes, certain important details are not shown on the videos. I wonder if the 2 brackets on the front window should have a torgue amount. But IF there is a rubber piece inside the bracket, there is a little wiggle room.
Great video. Best, most succinct video I found for this. I replaced my window regulator yesterday thanks to you. One question, I lost the three phillips screws that hold the interior panel in place. Can you tell me the specs on those?
Thanks John! Off hand I don't know 100% for sure. I am guessing they are 6x1.00 and about 20mm. That is a total guess. Some times the parts catalog will tell the dealer the size. It may be worth calling the dealer. Heck they might not even be that much new. Or swing by the junk yard and "find" a few ;)

At 0.30 there should be two rivets there, someone didn't put it back last time, because it hard to put it back, Don't need to remove those rivets before remove the carrier panel, it will hard to put it back, I remove the carrier panel with the door lock all at once, first on rear door if fitted 1/4 window or wagon, you need to remove the short window's rail that fit front of the door lock, then remove the lock bolts and then you can remove the all out a little to easy remove the cable that from the outer handle to the door lock ,then can out at once.some models need to remove outer door handle at once. after out ,then can remove and install the rivets easy., front door is easy because no window's rail there, Sorry you can't just show how to remove, that because install is different way to do,Hope this help!
My passengers side window has stay down and will not lift up, even when person operates the window button and one of us pulls at the glass. The white tabs just sit near the bottom. No matter what I try I can not get the glass out. Any answers from VW car lovers very much welcome. ( VW PASSAT ESTATE 2003 MODEL
