    That’s SO annoying! I wish I had seen this video before I cut and joined the wires of my pad sensors to bypass them! My pads have plenty of meat left on them.
    The real kicker is…..I didn’t it to both the rear AND front ! 🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️
    Good video! 👍🏽👏🏽👏🏽

    X5 y/m 2010. Worked fine for the front brake pads, but not for the rear. For some reason, the rear resetting gives "-400" (minus, i.e. "should have been replaced") instead of the expected "50000". Tried ten times.
    But as I've already learned, sometimes this cannot be reset on the dash but needs to be done with a mechanics scan tool. And sometimes even a top-level scan tool. For some reason, sometimes they just won't reset.

    @jamesbaxter904 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Sometimes you need to drive for around a mile before the reset works. Don't ask why 🤷‍♂️ happens on E60, E70 and E90. Some odd behaviour in the ecu registering the sensor I guess.

    I ve just bought a 06 manual 330i with brand new brakes , rotors - I guess brake pads sensors as well - and new clutch too :) .... the clutch destroy valve broke the clutch disc and separated the dual mass flywheel
    Car threw a 71 code so brake pads sensor.
    But the sensors seem to be OK and they were very likely installed new with the brake pads ... so why the heck do I have this light on ?
    Also for 2006 330i it doesn't show if it's the front sensor or the rear one.
    So basically .... is it possible to clear this sensor light or I do have to replace both sensors ? It's frustrating

    Hi Mark, So I replaced the rear brake pads and sensor on my 2008 BMW 328i. But I’m still not able to reset the brake light. Can it be that the sensor I bought is defective or is not comparable to factory sensor. I also went back and installed the old sensor and it also failed to reset. Any tips or ideas???

    hi thanks for the reset info. mine is a 40d 2011 model. mine says 24000 after front brake reset. it says 15000 k after rear brakes. why so low? my pads are half worn at 15000. just curious because iv had to do this a few times for each set of pads (warning said change pads but cleaely they can go for 50000...). any info appreciated.

    Iv just put new pads on rear a brand new sensor now tried to reset it an it’s showing lines an won’t put new miles on any ideas?

    • @Marksreviewsandtutorials
      @Marksreviewsandtutorials  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes they can be finicky. I have had faulty sensors before. To test if it is the sensor then get your old sensor and cut the sensor end off, join the two wires together and plug in this sensor.
      Then try the reset again. If it works it shows your sensor is faulty.
      Also sometimes you just cannot reset it from the dash you need to get access to a higher level scan tool that can then reset it. MRT

    • @Marksreviewsandtutorials
      @Marksreviewsandtutorials  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Two things that can be Rob. 1/ the sensor is broken and needs to be replaced.
      2/ You need someone with a decent scan tool to do a reset for you. Sometimes they need something a bit more serious.
      Did you watch the video to the end? I talk about replacing the sensor there. MRT

    but WHY does it need a new sensor? (what is wrong with the old sensor that requires the purchase a new sensor?) i ask because mine is not resetting either. As owners we need to know why. With no explanation, the idea it needs a new one is not correct when the old one is still working!

      Have a look at this video I show the sensor and how it works. You don’t have to replace it if it hasn’t been tripped or worn through.
