I've had good luck with "liquid electrical tape", from my local hardware store.

@@MarksGarageChannel I've never done any testing with an ammeter, only a voltage gauge or multimeter, and I've only used 12 volt neg. ground alternators. Just curious, is it a positive ground system?
I wonder if the generator is putting out voltage but the regulator isn't working properly.

@@MarksGarageChannel Maybe disconnect the two leads from the generator and test for any output with a voltage gauge.
