I knew I shouldn’t have clicked on this video. I’ve got a 06 Eglide standard that I bought with 8 miles on it back in 07. It now has 51000 miles on it and still runs very well and looks great for the year and mileage. Been debating on doing a total makeover or just riding it till it gives up the ghost. @@bronxbrosmotorcycles Great style of video by the way. I had a 2009 Ultra Classic in the Red Hot Lava Sunglo. I loved the golden metal flake shining through the paint. I traded that at 68k+ miles for my 2014 Ultra Classic in Amber Whiskey/Vivid Back. It was brand spanking new then. At 116k miles that bike still gets lots of complements. I still take it on moderately long rides of 300 miles round trip and use it as a daily rider. The M8 is a fabulous engine to soup up after you put a bunch of miles on. As she sits a simple cam, exhaust and air Breather with a good tune will increase power and torque significantly. Good mechanics love the M8. Ride on and thanks!
I purchase a 2012 Ultraclassic couple years ago. Stock. I got a cam ready to go in but gonna replace oil pump and cam plate Got to save a bit more for that. 14" bars, Wilbur suspension, Thundermax ecm. I enjoy riding it.
Great video, I always bought good used low mileage one owner bikes and payed cash. My last RK was a 2011 I bought in 2019 with only 5,500 miles on it. Loved that bike the only drawback was no cruise control. I put 50,000 miles on it and decided to to by at least one new bike before I retire. Bought a 2023 Icon Highway King. My main bike is a 1987 Gold Wing. It didn't come wit anything. The radio was removed before I bought it. One thing I added was heated grips and I have found these to be essential. I usually arrive in the US in April and start riding. Usually cold and rainy and sometimes snow. I can put on a warner coat but even with ski gloves my hands freeze. Heated grips let you ride in much colder weather. As for old bikes I just keep foxing them and riding them. I don't need no stinking electronics.

It’s what I thought about owning both of those machines. My opinion may surprise you. It surprised me… I just bought my 111th motorcycle here in October 2024. Of course I do all my own work and I try not to buy anything with hidden issues… I don’t buy motorcycles with rebuild engines, I don’t buy motorcycles that have been repainted. I buy motorcycles that are basically stock. I never had a Harley or an English motorcycle. Never even worked on one. I have a 22 bagger love the body style and detail. Me I don’t like 23 or 24 or 25 looks or cluster. So I’d probably buy all new and re painted and so on.
Bought a tow yard wreck and frankenstiened that bad boy to life, never spent so much money in my life save for my 95 240sx haha thats still being worked on
Sounds like you have an awesome bike. The short windshield is perfect for my 5'10" body the wind hits me at the forehead, but i can see above the windshield. Thanks for watching
Buy a 10-20yo Harley cheap and build the bike you really want! Every part or accessory you need is available within a week at most: engines, frames, transmissions, etc. Literally hundreds of seat, handlebar, foot position options. You don't even have to do the work yourself because there are shops everywhere building Harleys.
I've got an 03 Electra glide standard. Needs a new engine I'm debating on getting another bike or getting a crate engine. Thinking about getting an ultima 124 cubic inch crate engine if I decide on the crate engine route. FYI the original engine is completely trashed and not worth rebuilding.
Well yours is certainly a high-end rebuild... not the way I'd do it (I'm not into extra lights or techno-gadgetry), but done right nonetheless... I agree on searching and searching and buying used. I don't ride anywhere near what I used to (blew through 75 some years ago), but if one searches, there are still lots of hardly used HD's out there... My 2008 Anniversary Softail was almost untouched, except for its V&H Longshots (not my cup of tea either...) and the mileage was so low I couldn't pass it up... Have had it a year and just went over 8K miles last weekend... Your NC wrench is right... us old guys are used to the slower revving, more relaxed sounding, Evos and Shovels, this TC sounds like it is spinning itself to death (and I almost never get into 6th gears -- what's it for anyway), but guess its happier... Anyway, I like the way you attacked your bike...
To remove the wax buildup i used this product, recommended by a professional. Just follow the instructions. A lot of elbow grease but we'll worth the effort. tacsystem.co.kr/prod_view.html?TypeId=2&Id=859&FId=t3:2:3 Check out this video, at 14:09 is the process for buffing the paint. th-cam.com/video/M-TOOuf12SU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=e9g6XosRCKzzNhwi
Very nice video , I have a 2012 ultra limited with less then 15k miles and was wondering if I should buy a new bike , and you’ve helped me make up my mind to keep my 2012 and how did you hookup your external breather, I have one that I need to install and I love that inner fairing
here in Austraila brought a brand new dyna super glide in 09 spent about 10 grand on up grades ....lost heaps on it in 2013 when sold it with low kms never go down the Harley route again then purchased a 2010 1800 6 cylinder gold wing had all the bells and whistles from standard was candy apple red ........for me the gold wing was a better all round touring bike than the Harley
I’m a retired Harley mechanic and I’m done with buying Harley’s, I bought a 2000 Honda Valkyrie interstate for $2000 and only had 5000 miles , I’ve been coast to coast every year with it, I still kept all my Harley’s but just need to watch my money being retired
Nice bike. I just have one opinion 😂 so “research is research. We can watch reviews videos till we are black and blue but we don’t really know how well the actual performance of these products are until we test them out, do our own R&D. Can’t tell you how many times I bought a product for my bike and it turned out to be junk even though reviews boasted about its quality. To me that’s the fun part and why I prefer motorcycles over cars. R&D on cars gets very expensive. But for me, upper middle class income, I can afford to test these products and find how well they actually perform. Suorisingly a lot of these reviews are misleading. Also , I like chrome 👍 and , that wax ? I probably didn’t look to good but, it probably saved the paint underneath. ✌️
I agree wholeheartedly with the reviews. What i did was watch high-end builds with top brands. Fueling, S&S, Performance machine, Trask, Ohlins as examples and went with those. As for wax this guy used it in abundance. I have a video of me removing it, took a while. Thanks for watching.
To an untrained eye, maybe they can't see it. With me actually owning a modified Harley, my first thought was, "shiiiiiiiitttt." The air cleaner and rear pipe give it away at a glance. I didn't even hear it or look further before I knew the engine was built.
@@bronxbrosmotorcycles yeah I get that, I have just never owned a bike that new, I take that back, I forgot about the 2017 Road King that I bought that was a real POS, I only kept it about 4 months and sold it. But since the newest I have owned is a 2002.
Nice job all around. Money well spent. Yeah, there are riders who leve thier bike bone stock. There is plenty of aftermarket goods to upgrade a stocker.
Ouch. Should have kept the goldwing. Or for that money just get a newer goldwimg. And wait for like 40 years to rebuild that motor. 😅 . The 6k for the Harley was a good deal if it was gonna be reliable, but then it wasnt.
True, I still have an 82 Goldwing tucked away for rebuilding. In all honesty I have enjoyed the transformation and am happy with the reliability of the bike the way she is currently. Thanks for watching.
Everything after 13 is nothing but computers on wheels they’re horrible just computers being ran by another computer that runs another. I dodged a bullet a while back as I was putting cash on the desk. Everything today is primer colors for way too much money. Harley’s are supposed to be beautiful paint jobs and chrome. If chrome has to be black, you can still come up with some nice paint colors not the shit they have today. I have a 2013 anniversary that I was thinking of selling, you’re right I’ll just fix it up!

Great Info... Thanks for sharing. Sold my '11 Kaw.Voyager ABS in '16.😢 Sellers remorse ever since. 😮 One day... HD '11-'12 CVO Softail Convertible or '14-'15 CVO Softail Deluxe. It's just gonna come down to the right bike at the right time.
Good job.
I have a 22 bagger love the body style and detail. Me I don’t like 23 or 24 or 25 looks or cluster. So I’d probably buy all new and re painted and so on.
The M8 is a great engine. That's an awesome bike.
Thanks for watching ✌🏽

Fun has to be discounted from the dollar amount. I enjoy working on bikes and assume you also enjoy it.

Why did you not go to gear drive for the camshaft and stay with the chain.?
When i purchased the cam plate, the runout was excessive for a gear driven cam.
What’s it like even though it is short , the red windshield? I also did a big bore kit and cam! With Python’s exhaust! Well worth it!
Sounds like you have an awesome bike.
The short windshield is perfect for my 5'10" body the wind hits me at the forehead, but i can see above the windshield.
Thanks for watching
@@bronxbrosmotorcycles you’re welcome! I do have a nice bike! Thank you ! 2000 Ultra classic only 41000 on it since the bore kit! Super clean!!
Build it!😊

Do you live in Richmond Virginia area?I would like to see that bike
Virginia Beach
Buy a 10-20yo Harley cheap and build the bike you really want! Every part or accessory you need is available within a week at most: engines, frames, transmissions, etc. Literally hundreds of seat, handlebar, foot position options. You don't even have to do the work yourself because there are shops everywhere building Harleys.
Exactly!

Plenty of power that 124.
I'd look at the S&S engines as well.
Good stuff
Sweet bike u did an amazing job on it. I'm curious to know what all of that cost you tho.
Before the engine work about another 6, that includes the cam.
Thanks
And Thanks for watching
Sounds like you got an awesome bike!

How did you correct the paint issue?
To remove the wax buildup i used this product, recommended by a professional. Just follow the instructions. A lot of elbow grease but we'll worth the effort.

Check out this video, at 14:09 is the process for buffing the paint.

Beautiful bike bro! BTW, feeling those suede Pumas. 😂
Kicking it old skool 😆
You said that you had the gauges made. Where did you have this done?
I'll look for it, give me a bit

6k and even if you put 10k into it you're still about 1/2 of a new one in 2024. Smart investment and you got it exactly the way you want it. 👍

@@bronxbrosmotorcycles absolutely - enjoy the miles!
I have an 05 ultra classic 28k miles dat I picked up for $6500. ALL original, but I'm about to change dat.

Nice bike. Keep it.
50k new bike vs 10k motor or rebuild
Kinda a no brainer.

Very nice video , I have a 2012 ultra limited with less then 15k miles and was wondering if I should buy a new bike , and you’ve helped me make up my mind to keep my 2012 and how did you hookup your external breather, I have one that I need to install and I love that inner fairing
Thanks for watching.
Take the Breather/air filter off the two big bolts are where the external Breather goes.
It's pretty straightforward.
Great video

here in Austraila brought a brand new dyna super glide in 09 spent about 10 grand on up grades ....lost heaps on it in 2013 when sold it with low kms never go down the Harley route again then purchased a 2010 1800 6 cylinder gold wing had all the bells and whistles from standard was candy apple red ........for me the gold wing was a better all round touring bike than the Harley
Goldwings are great bikes!
I still have an 82 stored away.
I’m a retired Harley mechanic and I’m done with buying Harley’s, I bought a 2000 Honda Valkyrie interstate for $2000 and only had 5000 miles , I’ve been coast to coast every year with it, I still kept all my Harley’s but just need to watch my money being retired
Nice. It's a Goldwing in disguise.
Very nice bro
Thank you

I wonder what the whole cost of all your improvement were?
Close to 10
Fueling, S&S,
Performance machine, Trask, Ohlins as examples and went with those.
Thanks! It's always cool to hear from someone who really knows their stuff!
How much did everything costs?
Close to 10.
Beautiful bike love everything about it.
Thanks
I thought you said an older bike, a 2009 is a new bike to me, 😅😅😂😂
😁 You're right, it's my youngest bike. But by new standards, it's older. 😁
@@bronxbrosmotorcycles yeah I get that, I have just never owned a bike that new, I take that back, I forgot about the 2017 Road King that I bought that was a real POS, I only kept it about 4 months and sold it. But since the newest I have owned is a 2002.
🤣
Nice job all around. Money well spent. Yeah, there are riders who leve thier bike bone stock. There is plenty of aftermarket goods to upgrade a stocker.
Agreed

A old bike is way better than the new bike that are being put out there today
I'll agree with that!
But how much money did you put into it.
Spent a few bucks but at my pace.
The bike is mine and paid for.

07 great bike. No cam chain tensioner problems.
They are the best sounding bikes.

Dude you've sunk another 10k into the bike
Close, but I'm happy with my investment.
2013
Killer bike!
