bro forgot the most important fact about Mercedes. its the only car company tha makes every type of car. from f1,suv,coupe,buses,supercar,hypercar,citycars up to heavyduty trucks.
Another interesting and quite important fact: the 1954 300SL Gullwing was the first production car to feature direct fuel injection. Although it did take some manufacturers more than two decades to switch to direct injection, it's safe to say that this feat changed cars forever.
I've owned almost forty cars in the last twenty years and almost half of them were Mercedes, from a 1983 SL and a 1985 190E being the oldest to a 2013 E-Class estate, replacing a 2003 E320 CDI estate. I've had three Kompressor models, an SLK and I even owned three Vito vans, one of which I ran on vegetable oil/diesel mix. Every single one of these cars were exceptional value, reliable and I never regretted buying any of them. Even with leaking air suspension, worn clutch, stretched chain, they would just go and go, they are built to go on forever as workhorses. My first toycars were a plastic SL and a Matchbox-type 126 S-Class, which must have influenced me later on. With my son, Emil (just like Emil Jelinek, Mercedes' father) I made sure that he had plenty of Mercedes hotwheels and Matchboxes. He loves the G-Class, which I regret not buying when their prices were still affordable. Otherwise, older Mercedes are the best value on the used car market. They have features that are rare even years later in their competitors and many owners keep them fully serviced and maintained, so you always get a better selection of cars, regardless of what type you need. I even had a couple of Smart Fortwos, but I can't wait to get our next family car, which I would like to drive down to the Amalfi coast in Italy. It will be either and S-Class or a CLS. Mercedes IS the CAR. The company has the heritage of the automobile, no other company represents cars as Mercedes does.
Great to hear the story from another merc fan sir 😊 I'm from India and as you know we're still a developing country and most of our household can't afford Mercedes at all. I'm currently 23 and my mother and father bot passed away in 2016 but I wanna share my own story about how I came to know Mercedes and fell in love since forever. Around 2013 or 2014 we had a family function in the nearest city me and my family went to attend it and then we were about to cross the road suddenly a Tiffany Blue Mercedes (i don't know which model) appeared I was hypnotized and I fell in love Mercedes with first sight after that...i decided that my first car will be Mercedes or nothing after that many cool and beautiful car came but still I don't know they don't have me vide if they're not Mercedes ( Sorry for my bad english) ( Well gonna work hard enough and buy with my hard worked money)
The w206 C63 was really disappointing, at least the 205 stuck with a v8 instead of a glorified EV drivetrain. The M139 is actually pretty good for a 2.0 turbo outputing that performance, but someone seriously thought it could substitute the M177
A few fact checks : The M100 was developed , and best known , for use in the W100 type 600 'Grand Mercedes' of 1963 .It found its way into the 300SEL after Erich Waxenberger , one of the engineers , shoehorned it in in his spare time . The W123 was introduced in 1976 , and sold up to 1985 at which point the W124 was already in production . The predecessors : the W114 6 cylinder models , and W115 4 cylinder models came out in 1968 , hence they were known as the /8 , strich acht , or simply 'new Generation' models when they replaced the W110/111/112 'Fintail series' , also known as the 'Ponton B' series . The misconception that the gullwing doors of the original W198 coupe could leave people trapped is borne out of ignorance : in those cars the windows are designed to be kicked out , if they hadn't already popped out , in the event of a roll over incident , thus enabling escape . Although the W116 was indeed the first production model to be sold with Bosch ABS , it was only an option at first on the 450SEL 6.9 . Mercedes and Bosch had been collaborating on ABS since the late 1950's with Ponton and Fintail experimental cars running with prototype ABS systems , which were only considered reliable enough to release in the 6.9 . The first production car with anti lock brakes was actually the Jensen Interceptor FF , which had the Dunlop Maxarret system , developed in the 1950s for aircraft landing gear to prevent tyre bursts on landing . The Coventry based English Daimler company was actually founded in 1896 , shortly afterwards securing the right to sell cars made by Daimler Motoren Gesselschaft ( Canstatt Daimlers ) in the UK , at which point they were known as the Daimler Motor Company Limited , In 1902 , they were granted a Royal Warrant to supply cars to the British Royal Family ( who were , and remain , actually of German descent , being related to kaiser Wilhelm , Emperor of Germany , who was related by marriage to Queen Victoria ) . Coventry Daimler cars remained the favoured transport of the British Royal family up to the 1950s , at which Rolls-Royce were awarded the warrant . Coventry Daimler was indeed absorbed into Jaguar in 1960 , and subsequently into British Leyland ; much as Rolls-Royce had absorbed Bentley circa 1930 when the latter got into financial difficulties ; in more recent times Jaguar and Daimler , as well as Rolls-Royce and Bentley were effectively badge engineered versions of the same cars ; although that has changed more recently again . Aaargh : the W201 , 190 series was actually developed in response to the American Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) legislation which required all manufacturers to reduce average fuel economy across their range . To meet this requirement , in what was Daimler-Benz largest export market , they developed the new smaller car to reduce the average fuel economy figures across their range , largely die to reduced size , mass and improved aerodynamics . The 16 valve cars used in racing came later . The Electronic Stability Programme , introduced to the W168 shortly after launch , is known as ESP , not ESC . Where will the inaccuracies end ?? The W126 was introduced in 1980 ; I drove the first UK registered RHD example , and the actual vehicle reviewed in CAR magazine , TLB 910W which was one of MBUK's press fleet and on a 1980/81 registration ; the model had been out on the continent in LHD form a few months earlier and they did indeed remain in production up to circa 1991 , although some examples were still produced in South Africa up to 1994 ; I owned three of them , two at the same time . Also my last W116 was also on a W registration plate ( I can't recall the number because I had a cherished plate on it most of its life , but in any case the W116 came out in 1972 with the 350SE and ran up to around 1980/81 where it overlapped with early W126 models ) . The W126 was still under development in 1975 , halfway through the W116 production run . The W220 was certainly not the best , but the worst was absolutely the W210 , most of which have now rotted into oblivion . The W220 was slightly better made , and I had two , but they are seldom seen on the roads these days . I also had a couple of W140 cars , which were better made , but the best model most owners would say was the W126 . No 80: the vehicle shown is actually the 1932 W07 typ 770 Grosser , built for Kaiser Wilhelm II and known as the Kaiserwagen ; it is a very well known car and resides in the Mercedes-benz museum .
Yes, couldn't agree more. The 123 series ran through the 86 model year though. This was due to the S124 was still beeing developed and to not have a wagon in the line up was unthinkable back in the day. That's why the S123 out of the Bremen factory were still sold through 1986 until they started production of the S124 that came out for sale in 1987.
the Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing did have a unique feature to address the issue of being trapped in the car if it flipped over. Mercedes-Benz equipped the 300SL with an emergency door release system. It was a cable-operated mechanism located inside the cabin, allowing occupants to release the doors from their hinges in case of an accident or rollover. This feature provided a crucial safety measure, ensuring that occupants could exit the vehicle even if it ended up upside down.
Next up: Nissan, Ferrari, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Maseratti, Aston Martin, Lotus, Mazda [mazda have race cars, they dont just built family cars !], Renault, Mclaren, Pagani, Dodge, Kia, Lancia, Honda/Acura, Ford, Rolls Royce, Bentley, Subaru, Mitsubishi, Volvo, Volkwagen, Audi, Bmw, And moreeeee 😂
Wow, this video is a massive compilation of Mercedes knowledge! It's amazing to learn about their many "firsts", especially the safety innovations like the crumple zone and seatbelt pre-tensioners. [00:02:35] Also quite interesting to hear about the "love affair" turned rivalry between Mercedes and BMW
Mercedes was named after a Jewish girl. Emil Jellenik probably got the name from "Count of Monte Christo" where Mercedes was name of the lover of the protagonist. Mercedes is female given name in Spanish, but rarely used in Germany.

About the urin thing about cats and the general air polution. You see the AdBlue we all put into our beloved diesels is actually what 80% of our urin contains and that is Natrium Oxide aka ureaa deluted in water. So they were very right at the time
6:06 so if it turns off couldn't the thieves just shake it to turn it back on? And also how will you use it since you are not constantly shaking your car keys?
