Man, this album (and this track specifically) are one of those that just instantly transports me back to very specific and special times. Opened up a whole new world for me, musically. I love it.

Thanks for your sincere reaction. I pretty much agree, it's "Ok", even as a Thrice fan in my formative years this song felt incomplete. I loved the riffs and I got a real kick out of the basic gimmick in the first few measures.

So. In 2001 my friend gave me this cd. It was burned from Napster. All I had heard was blink 182 and godsmack at that point. I went home and realized music had more to offer. I started learning hammer ons and finger picking but realized music was whatever we want it to be. This song changed my life. I’m sure it existed before it was shown to me. But this song showed me that there’s music beyond what the radio plays.

Agree with Chuck. This is from their first album and their sound becomes more professional and evolved in subsequent albums.

This song kicks so much ass. I would absolutely blare this shit in my 83 ford in high school.

This was done when Thrice was teenagers, and they were still figuring out their sound. There’s a lot of Christian overtones to this album, but half of the songs were re-recorded versions of their first/demo album. It showed their ability to play their instruments but they hadn’t “tightened up” yet. They could write songs, but they hadn’t introduced melody yet. The closest they got to that on this album was the song T&C, which is overtly religious as that was a song saying they do music for God (and the singer is really the only religious one. The rest of the band is meh to it, even though they’re also Christians).
