Y'all left out the most important part of the history of snow. He wasn't just using Jamaican for views. He was raised in a very dense Jamaican community and grew up talking like this.
It was actually a very dense low income white community that the Canadian government transformed into a dense Jamaican community. Whites were minority by the time Snow come of age.

Nah, the cops tried to pin him with the stabbings but his friend is the one that did it. His friend confessed to it on trial after taking some kind of deal where if he confessed he couldn't be charged with the crime in court.
I thought the charges were simply changed to assault from attempted murder, because neither of the victim died. And besides the testimony of someone, no other evidence shown that Snow did it.
The irony is crazy: he got jumped by some guys hating on him rapping, he ends up going to jail after stabbing two of them, and then makes millions rapping about it 😂 - Snow should simply say: "careful or you might get stabbed down the lane, brah"

Hi! I just watched his Nightly Fix Radio interview on TH-cam where he says that phrase had no particular meaning, it was more a way for him to ride the beat (which surprised me). It originally started out as a slightly different phrase, changing when it came to recording it. He also laughed at people thinking it was sexual, so i shared that frustration with you that they got hung up on one line that could be percieved in a sexual way.
🤨 It's in a Jamaican patois you remedial student 🤦🏿♂️... And Please don't pretend as though you immediately understood what he was saying when you first heard the song...

This is old school classic stuff, the lyrics are easy to find. He's from Canada and he wrote the entire album, '12" of Snow' released I believe in 1993. He wrote this album while in prison for a crime he didn't commit. It's an incredible story and the entire disk is awesome. Check it out as there's other awesome jams on it as well.

It's not so much an accent as the Jamaican Patois has phrasing that isn't typical in English (for example in the line "Informer, ya' no say daddy me Snow me I go blame" the "daddy me Snow me" trips people not familiar with the patois and how things are phrased in it) and slang that's unique ('haffi" for "have to" and "irie" meaning, in this song, "pleasing") or pretty uncommon ('Lick" meaning hit, which used to be a thing in English too, IE "Get his licks in" for example). Add the speed and it's easy to get lost in it.
@@VladamireD that's dead ass, it's pretty amazing this song was so huge if you think about it, because his flow and skill were just like what was coming from the rock at the time, and while this was when dancehall became king, the only real crossover into the charts was the Shabba Ranks/Maxi song, I know some folks in the US were on to it, (I think it was digital underground or raw fusion maybe) that name dropped shabba in a song, but dancehall got no radio play at all and I was listening to some urban radio at the time. There was this song, Shabba and shakademus and pliers song were huge, and then supercat but that got no radio.
