    thanks, good examples, how would this work if one wanted to lengthen their psoas or erector spinae muscles? Would one aim to activate their ab muscles?

      You'd want glute max for psoas, and abs for erectors, correct!

      wow thanks for the speedy response. one more question. i appreciate the logic and science of this method, but how effective is it for treating tight muscles? would you say this is just as effective as regular stretching? in what case would one use this method over regular stretching?

      Sure thing. So I'd say probably equal to regular stretching, but as with most things each individual case is likely to be different. In some instances you may find it completely ineffective, in others it might be the only thing that loosens a tight muscle. Give it a try, there's no real harm in it.
