Install Summoners War: bit.ly/35uNGjm Thanks so much for watching guys! Let me know if you agree or disagree with my points. I honestly forgot to bring up the Great Saiyaman and yes, It's weird that even though he disliked fighting, he took on a superhero persona which obviously, would require combat. I think that he overall wanted to help regular people and when you're already far superior to normal humans, you don't really need to keep up with training. Maybe it was more so that Gohan just didn't want to fight pointless battles like with Cell, but fighting for innocents directly was different to him? Regardless, I believe the hero phase was due to Akira wanting to portray Gohan as the next hero in line, but then ultimately abandoned it as the series progressed. He could have been showcased better though.
GOHAN HAD HIS MOMENT AND FANBOYS CAN'T LET GO OF THAT ONE MOMENT. AT LEAST THEY ARE BETTER THAN VEGETA FANBOYS WHO HAVE INHERITED DRAGON BALL Z VEGETA'S CHIP ON HIS SHOULDER. WE NOW HAVE A FANFIC WRITER WHO DOES NOTHING BUT COPY, WRITING THE MANGA THAT ROUTINELY CONTRADICTS CANON. THE GOKU VEGETA HAM-FISTED RIVALRY IN SUPER NEEDS TO END AND THE SERIES NEEDS TO MOVE ON.
Love your vids, but I'm curious, have you ever thought of making a 'WHAT IF' about Vegeta wishing for a new planet Vegeta, like he doesn't revive them, but actually makes a new Sayian Race? (Could take place after Buu or U7 Vs U6?)
The biggest problem with Toriyama's portrayal of Gohan is that he never shows Gohan actually being excited for or interest in becoming a scholar. From what we were shown, he was told to be a scholar by ChiChi, and he went along with it. What does Gohan even study? What does he like about it? Has he ever shown legitimate excitement for learning something? I honestly believe that if we got those moments in the story (I know its a battle manga, but pausing for character moments only makes things better) the DBZ fanbase would be cheering and proud that our boy Gohan has earned his peace and happiness, not grumbling at his "lost potential".
This 100%. Gohan says he wants to be a scholar, but we as audience don't see him work toward it because he wants to. Then again this is a shonen battle manga and we have seen many instances where Goku isn't enough, by then it's up to Vege- Gohan, but for plot reasons he holds himself back. (Wish Gohan got to see Trunks's future. Now that would be interesting.)
You expect a fighting anime to show in great detail the boring ass journey Gohan went through to become a scholar? Let's be real, y'all just don't understand Gohan's character and want an excuse to complain.
@@rayan-xg5kw Who said anything about great detail? The problem is we got NOTHING so when the story tells us to be happy Gohan finally earned the life he wanted, we have nothing to connect that with emotionally like when we are shown Piccolo beginning to care about Gohan, Vegeta promising to take Trunks to the park or Roshi reflecting on his student's impact on him Quite literally half of a page during any of the downtime, at any point where Gohan shows genuine interest or excitement about learning SOMETHING would be more than enough
@@thewalrus45 i wouldn't mind the look THAT much if it was only that but when he went to the same level or even beyond what the Ginyu force did it was too much for me to see poor Gohan being subject too
I've been tryna tell people forever........Gohan DESERVED TO STOP FIGHTING HAVE U SEEN HIS RESUME DAWG? HE WAS A TODDLER IN THEM TRENCHES BOXING CHARACTERS THE ADULTS COULDN'T he nearly died several times AS A KID seen alot of people die AS A KID. If it weren't for his sayain DNA i'm sure he'd need therapy
Deadass. People be pressed that this man would want to live like a regular person when he was forced into this fighting life in the first place. I’m happy he’s a scholar, I just hope they do the DB Xenoverse thing and have him write a book on ki control for the rest of Earth
@@spritvio639 i hardcore agree which is why i think gohan is an interesting character. Him having this arc gives us a chance to see Gohan develop once more
@@spritvio639 I feel like he’d end up like Piccolo and do image training on his school breaks. So his power wouldn’t drop and he’d still be at peak performance ki wise.
How was Goku introduced to fighting? He got loving training from Grandpa Gohan and was raised to see the fun in it. He got to compete in casual tournaments, and it is through fighting he made most of his friends and eventually his wife. How was Gohan introduced to fighting? A mad man from space kidnapped him and brutalized his father, leading to his death, where he is then kidnapped by Piccolo and told he has to fight or Saiyans will come and kill everyone he loves. Then sees most of his father's friends die one by one and goes on a mission to Namek where he confronts a cruel space tyrant before he even turns 6. Is it any wonder Gohan may not be as enthusiatic about fighting as his father?
Pretty much yeah. Krillen is a true ride or die homie. The man trained with Goku, kept his son (kinda) safe on an alien planet. Krillen is family in my Vin Diesel voice.
Gohan not loving fighting is actually one of the traits I think makes him so unique and interesting as a character. To not want to be a fighter in a show that practically revolves around it is a statement and a half. If you think about it Gohan has endured a whole bunch of trauma at such a young age from the Saiyan Saga right up to the Cell Saga so kid deserved to enjoy a bit of normality. I found the more slice of life aspect to the Saiyaman Saga really enjoyable. Plus even though he slacked on training he still didn't completely lose all sense of responsibility going off as a vigilante. in Super he finally manages to strike a balance within himself as a fighter and a guy who just wants to live his life. One of my favourite scenes from the Super manga is during Gohan's fight with Kefla where he makes it clear he's not following Goku and Vegeta's paths and embraces the more human side of his nature which ultimately fits his character. He will never be the guy who fights for the sake of fighting but when he needs to defend his family his battle instincts will come out like they always have since the day he launched himself at Raditz to defend his dad. Anyway wow I rambled a bit too much than I thought I was, Chuck's video was great.
Pretty much yeah.. Gohan would be boring if he was just the same TRAIN TRAIN TRAIN, FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT type as Goku and Vegeta but SMARTER. I wish they let him stay as the secondary or tritatory protagonist more often but Gohan who fights because he wants to protect his family and otherwise when he doesn't have to mostly does his own thing is a lot more interesting than him just being Smart Goku. And yeah I really liked what they did with him in the ToP arc of Super and was annoyed to see him more or less shoved into the background again in Broly, and (aside from a few chapters) the Moro arc. Like it finally seemed they got the character in a place where he was balanced and could actively keep playing a role in things while still remaining true to what his character was meant to be, he would keep himself in shape and train because he needs to protect his family, but he'd also not give up on his own dreams and keep on being a scholar. Also they had him recognize how badly his arrogance fucked him over the last few times he got giant powerboost.
Yeah, this. That said, I bet you $1k that the primary reason he never trained is because Chi-Chi would have had an aneurysm, killed him, chained his corpse's ankle to the chair, and wished him back.
Never got the hate for Gohan. Made a lot of good points here I think, not just a one note character for killing Cell he's a lot more than that. A good man and good husband. One of the best characters in the entire series. (Side note, I know this is a different video than what we talked about on Twitter. But I'm extremely grateful for the follow on Twitter and that you still are following me. Thank you very much! That's gonna be a highlight of my year)
I do think thats a part of it. He finally killed him and it felt empty. And now he finds himself raising Goku's kid to fight aliens knowing Goku is coming back and they have to work together.
@@ChaddyFantome I think Piccolo does monologue at one point that he didn't feel satisfied with killing Goku and even questions how he could hate someone willing to make such a noble sacrifice.
Even as a kid I felt bad for goham to the point that I didn't even fantasize about being him because he had it so rough people don't show him enough respect for all the trauma he endured and pushed past to save the earth
I meant the trauma of having your neck broken or the countless other times he was beaten to a pulp or had to witness loved ones being hurt or killed as the reason I didn't fantasize about being him
@@dandyman2182 yea but as a kid I also factored in it being a "cartoon(cuz I didnt know what anime was yet)", so I put my sympathy aside and had faith that those experiences would make him stronger. And by the time cell games was finished, he was(and still is imo) solidified as one of the most inspirational and/or influential characters in anime
Invincible as the hero, yes. Mark as a person maybe not so much. Mark has quite the hero complex/drive and probably still has a bit of frustration from being a late bloomer while Gohan had powers before he even knew what super powers were. As superheroes, I'd imagine them being good pals. But if they knew each other as kids, Mark may carry a little resentment and jealousy towards Gohan not to mention the unconditional love Gohan has from Goku while Mark always felt he was never worthy of being his dad's son and Omniman never put any effort in until Mark got his powers. Just my opinion on how it'd go.
@@redarcher3599 I think those clashing perspectives would make for very interesting conversations. Mark always wanting to be a hero, Gohan finding that mindset naive since he was since he was a child, Mark saying he'd have killed for that early bloomer experience. Clashing perspectives are how you make great scenes.
I never understood why he couldn’t train and go to school. Did he expect his father to live forever? I mean Buu Arc Gohan was sorta there and the best depiction of adult Gohan we got, now hes just a shadow of what he was. Super has basically everyone playing cheerleader and Vegeta is just barely staying relevant.
Chi Chi was hard on him and he doesn't want to disappoint his dad. Look at Trunks, Bulma lets him be a fighter and academically smart at the same time.
@@jasonfoley6502 well to be fair, I think Trunks would have an easier time academically speaking. He is the son and grandson of geniuses after all (Bulma and her dad)
Either from Team four star or the stereotype that Goku is a bad father. Gohan no where in the show shows disdain for his father and Goku constantly saves him and says how proud of him he is. They'll say piccolo is a better Dad despite him kidnapping him and abusing him into Stockholm syndrome lol.
Gohan wasn't built to become the next Goku. Gohan wanted to do other things. Which I understand why. However, I understand why most are disappointed. Goku was still proud of Gohan for following his dreams while having his own family. On a positive note. Gohan is the third smartest character in the series.
Thanks for this so many people talk shit about gohan not understanding his character at all. Not to mention he already resolved to stay strong and is the strongest he has ever been in the series at this point yet people forget that. I don't need those rage moments to like gohan his character is already great.
Gohan from the Very beginning hated fighting. But people keep "Oh he has all this potential to be greater fighter than his father." Yeah guess what just because you're a Natural at something doesn't mean it something you want to do. There can be a guy who a Super genuis at Math but he Wants to be A Writer. And while I'm sure gohan will use his strength to defend the world. Were just going to have to settle with Goku and Vegeta with there 100 Transformation to get stronger.
True, but the difference is, being amazing at math but doing writing instead isn't putting your family in danger like not training when you're one of only a dozen people that can defend an entire planet from the constant over the top world destroying threats.
@@KaiserMattTygore927 They could have more people if they wanted. There’s namekians that would be happy to join Earth, the humans could start up their own martial arts schools, or…they could just wish that Goku and Vegeta became immortal or never tired. Gohan legitimately doesn’t have to fight anymore, the heroes just refuse to take precautions that would make life easy for them.
@@KaiserMattTygore927 Gohan believed at the Time That Super Sayain 2 Was the Limit. That Cell was the Biggest Threat the world had to worry about. It a Dumb mindset to be sure but you got to remember everytime the world was threaten they had some preparation. Some warning. Goku and Vegeta train because they love getting stronger. Gohan train when the Planet is in Danger. Him training every single day is not fun for him. But in dragonball Super je starting to reliaze he should at least be in some shape to Help out when the world in danger. And to me i love it when Z fighters who knows they are going against God level opponents still try to make a Difference. Gohan doesn't Need to be as Strong as Goku he should Alaways be ready.
Gohan: wasted potential Also gohan: an amazing son, husband, father, friend, and a super hard worker. As well as working on being a fighter that could threaten even golden freiza and was fighting an enemy the golden space lizard COULDN'T. All while juggling a job... Fighting isn't his forte, I get that, but we not gone act like if he dropped all his responsibilities like goku and vegeta rarely have, and trained like they do, he wouldn't WASH them in a fight lol. His differences to the saiyans is what makes him such a good character imo.
Bro if he even kept up with his training he would stronger than both goku and vegeta he doesnt even need to training everyday all he has to do was keep up plus whether he likes or not after goku and vegeta he's the main line of defence yet did nothing he is a shadow of what he could of become which is wasted potential
I wouldn't say Tien was wasted potential. I'm a big Tien fan, but even I would say that he had his time to shine in a big way in DragonBall prior to Z. So, while he doesn't do much now, he still has his good moments whenever he does show up.
@@Chuck Hi Chuck i definitly get what you are saying here but that really not why i and i think a lot of people fell that Gohan was wasted or more accurately how they made a disservice of his character. He went through a lot of shit since he was 4 freaking years old, no one can deny that. I don't mind he choose i different life then becoming Earth's New protector and remaining a fighter, i mean who could blame him for that after what he went through, i get all of that, is just the way he was used first in Z as first the... Saiyaman, (shudders in cringe and pain) somehow getting caught and SOMEHOW UNABLE TO ESCAPE FROM THE GRIP OF BABIDI HUMAN MINION!! Like seriously what the hell was that?!? And later coming back as a fighter and with a greater level of power after he trained (because he had to, to protect his family and world from the new threat of Buu) only to fuck everything up (through a lot of that is Goten and Trunks fault) same way as before with cell and acting like vegeta again because some executives wanted Goku to save the day instead again of course, which if i'm remembering this right wasn't what Toriyama first wanted, it wasn't his original vision and then the way he was handled on Super and to be fair there was a step in the right direction here and good moments for Gohan like his training with Piccolo and his battle with dyspo but even so there a lot of problems i feel that remained the same from the buu saga when it comes to Gohan, more specifically him being sidelined in comparison to a lot of others, especially in the Tournament Arc i feel despite his battle with Dyspo. He didin't have to fight Jiren or anything like that but they definitly could and should have done better with him. Even if in regards to his strategizing but also for him to show and actually use his power better. He didin't have to be the main character or become like Goku, they just should have treated his character with a lot more respect i think and not sidelined him, to say the least, so damm much. He deserved better when he had to step up and fight again for his peace just like he deserved the said peace he wanted and got.
Honestly i feel like Gohan is gonna gonna stay where he is at from here on out as long as Dragonball Super is still going and that's fine. Even if Gohan was to find a way to obtain Super Saiyan God, Blue, or even Ultra Instinct, Super has introduced characters like Moro, Granola, DBS Broly, and Jiren who were capable of fighting on par with SSJG & MUI or even surpass it in some cases. There's no way that Gohan would be able to stand a chance against them in his current state. As long as Dragonball Super keeps introducing stronger foes with each new arc the power gap between them and Gohan widens.
"Stop attacking yourself! I don't know where you got this idea there's something wrong with you but there's not." -Goku to Gohan during the Father/Son beam struggle
I don’t see how getting ssj at an age younger than gohan himself and your fusion being relative to the man who taught you ssj3 counts as disappointing blame super for shafting them when it’s been shown goten wants to train but chi chi stunts his growth by trying to make him a book worm
Makes sense most of his fighting experiences come with high trauma. The same people who shouts at gohan to work will be the ones crying when people like nappy shows up
Usually I'd say your just being apologetic for a character but Gohan truly is just living his life, seeking combat for combat's sake is all Goku's and Vegetas deal.
I think common sense tells you that staying strong in a world constantly plagued by danger is more important than whether you "like" fighting or not. The point of Goku's death to Cell was to show Gohan that he was now responsible for the protection of Earth, and that whether he wants to fight or not, its something he's inherited. HE THEN STOPS TRAINING FOR 7 YEARS. This is not the decision of a character that is living up to the expectations of even common sense, let alone the fanbase that grew to love him. The Resurrection F arc and movie are the same situation. A Gohan, now grown enough to have a family and something to protect, is weaker than he has ever been, even though time after time its been shown to him that allowing yourself to become weak is unacceptable. He is given his power back because otherwise he wouldn't be able to contend with what he needs to in the Survival Saga, and earns it back in an incredibly unsatisfying way. He absolutely has become as bad as I think, due to poor writing and a complete disregard of character motivation and common sense.
Exactly but the fanbase wants to ignore that because they think goku is a evil battle hungry monster who likes to endanger everyone in his fights even tho him and vegeta are the only one’s relevant strength wise to protect the planet
I think Gohan IS being wasted, not that he's permanently a doomed character. I honestly don't even think he needs to fight anymore. I think we just need some more Gohan in general.
Something I feel keeps getting missed is that from a realistic perspective, Gohan has no reason to want to get stronger. We know about the escalation of the setting because it's a Shonen Manga. But in universe, Freeza was believed to be the strongest being in the universe before the Androids and Cell, with the Ginyu Force and King Cold being the next biggest threats as presented early on. So after defeating Cell, Gohan could have probably lost 99% of his power and still easily been stronger than everyone who wasn't a defender of Earth. Then Buu happened. A magical evil from ancient times that the gods themselves declared the greatest threat ever. And he grew strong enough to curbstomp the non-fused variant of that ancient evil. Beyond that, there was a seven year gap between the destruction of Cell and the appearance of Buu. So Gohan is left with the belief that there are no more greater threats and that the level of power everyone on Earth has attained is so far beyond everything else that exists that even Yamcha could defend the Earth from the greatest threats that are left in the universe. What is his incentive to train instead of focusing on his studies?
His manga self is scary AF he’s no goku or vegita but thy literally have gotten training constantly from gods. Like Moro noted the significant increase of power he had verbally “ he went out of his way to state it” this was after penetrating goku and whooping vegita. Not saying he’s anywhere near them but other than them and a literal angel the old goat never really paid anyone mutch attention. I would have loved if gohan begrudgingly met the responsibilities that comes with his tremendous power. Like learning that no matter what more badguys are going to suffer and he can stop or at the very least limit the suffering others could go through. Ya know kinda like Spiderman before the mid 2000’s. I’m a sucker for the reluctant hero archetype.
@@powerjolt7215 since manga characters are way weaker/stronger atleast up until ToP compared to anime counterparts its safe to assume that manga kefla isnt even close to the level of power she was in anime. At the same time gohan maybe actually be stronger then his anime version aswell. Remember that in the manga, roshi could dodge few jiren attacks and kale 1 shotted aniraza, and many other examples
In a f***ed up way, I look at Gohan kind of representing us (mankind) as a whole, he has rediculous potential, yet he choses to live a more simple life. Many of us normal people have extraordinary potential that we don't know is even there because most of us seek a life of comfort and complacency. Most of us, in reality, can be that guy in the lambo with a ton of money if we tried our absolute hardest and kept grinding until we reach that goal, but sadly, most of us get tired, or settle down and have families, etc. that forces us to shift our efforts and energy into more secure/ mundane things, which in turn, we forget exactly what is is we're actually capable of, just like Gohan. (Not to say there's anything wrong with that at all, do what makes you happy I say, I just find it to be a very interesting parallel)
i agree with you in every acpeirct with you way of thing of gohan its they way he was brought on him as a young kid and his protocol he has and how he gained his power and his way of gaining his power that's the different between the timelines and the current timeline and the fight with cell tourrght him how to use his power in a way of letting him use his anger to to beat his latent power i always like your way of thinking of your way of thinking for dbz that most of the people dont think of and think of a way of making a bad way of thinking compered to the way it is.
If anything people should be happy with the current gohan. In terms of his strength he’s stronger than he’s ever been, and his characterization is the absolute best version of what It was supposed to be from the beginning.
Gohan is in much better shape of a fighter then he was in GT. When he fought Omega Shenron, Super 17, and Baby alongside Uub, Goten, and Trunks he stood no chance. He had become fully accepting of his Earthling side by the time GT came along he saw no need to train. The only reason he decided to train again in Super to regain his Ultimate form was cause of what happened during the Resurrection F arc where he almost died against 1st form Frieza and failing to even save Piccolo. It was ultimately Gohan painfully going SSJ2 that Goku and Vegeta were able to teleport to Earth to join the fight against Frieza. And you saw how exhausted he was after outputting that much energy.
My question is will you go over terms like Outerversal and stuff? Such as, are you Outerversal if you view any dimension (even if it is infinite dimensional) as fiction?
To answer your question at the end of your sentence, outerversal fully transcends infinite dimensions which these dimensions trivialize lower dimensions to insignificance
not sure if this interests you as a concept, but yamcha in dragonball super is not as weak as everyone thinks, he get's underestimated by the cast to the point where he even doubts himself which is why he didn't step into to fight beerus in the battle of gods arc. that being said, beerus, incapped all of the z fighters in no time flat with very little effort. later on, in the baseball episode yamcha tanked multiple hit's from not only vegeta but even champa which scales to beerus pretty closely. he can at-least scale or stack up to tien and krillin still. if goku were to fight him, goku would likely go blue (because even though he takes the fight slowly to size up opponents, he still has very little sense of holding back, he went blue against krillin and a weakened gohan multiple times, he goes blue for the most trivial reasons sometimes)
Krillin is more a uncle than brother. Also Ichigo was more forced to embrace his hollow, and later Quincy self, to beat certain enemies. While Gohan didn't have to go as hard as his own dad does, in battle. He's strong enough but never the topdog. Gohan ain't as bad as people think, but he isn't what they'll think of when it comes to guys wanting to be the ultimate warrior. Now if you want a character done terribly, try Tien and Yamacha!
Not liking to fight and preferring to study/spend time with family is one thing. Not even attempting to keep himself strong enough to fight any threats which may appear (and, from experience, the characters know threats appear quite often) and protect that family he loves due to being one of the few people able to is something different.
"but the fact that Gohan looked past this, is in itself a great testament to his character...wouldn't you think?" No. 1. It is because he looked past this he became lacking, i still find it odd that the thought of something else endangering the earth was something not predicted or thought of in the following 7 years. 2. Even though his experiences might've caused him to hate fighting. That still doesn't explain why he would not train at least once in a while. Heck his brother goten is training and sparred with his mother, and Chichi doesn't like fighting yet she still sparred with Goten. Yes Goten didn't suffer from the same experience as Gohan, therefore his view on fighting isn't that bad. However Goten lost his mom, and he saw his own mother die in front of him. Yet he still trains, he saw his father lose to a god, and yet he likes to train. In another timeline he fought broly and was beaten brutally, and he still likes to train. 3. This is one major point, the most important details of them all and that i've seen that it's not on this video. The how and why question. If gohan doesn't like fighting why the heck did he chose to be the Great Saiyanman? a superhero that is more often then not, going to fight other people? like what happened here and why? also i thought all the super saiyan transformations were unlocked when Anger was involved. In the case of goku was seeing Krillin die, in the case of Vegeta it was his anger of being more weak then Goku and i thought for Gohan it was the stress of a life and death situation when in the hyperbolic time chamber where he also remembered everything that has happened to him and got super angry (also i say all, but Goten and Trunks got their transformations quite easy, the kids not the future ones). Don't get me wrong, i love gohan, he is basically the ideal model for superheroes with complicated lineage, but even Ichigo knew he had to get shit done and embrace what he is, instead like Gohan, ignoring his saiyan side.
1) I don't think it's hard to believe he'd became a bit complacent after the Cell Games. After all, as far as he was concerned, there wasn't anything that really could threaten his home: Freeza was supposed to be the strongest guy in the universe, and Gohan was at that point powerful enough that defeating someone on Freeza's level would be trivial. Even Vegeta didn't catch up to him in spite of training for 7 years. He doesn't know he's living in a cartoon universe where there's inevitably going to be someone waiting right around the corner stronger than the previous guy. And since he doesn't have the same drive to get stronger than his dad or Vegeta and has other passions in life, it's not really weird for him to slack off in time of peace. Gohan isn't a pacifist. He will fight if he has to, and can enjoy a friendly spar. But he's not like his father either: he doesn't enjoy fighting strong opponents and becoming stronger for the sake of it. Now the Buu Saga could have been a wake-up call for him, that if he just doesn't try improving himself, *somehow* someone will come up and ruin his world. Instead he becomes complacent again. To the point he quickly diminishes in power. Sure, there's still Goku and Vegeta around if there's a problem, but for him to need another threat to show up again, kill Piccolo, his wife and daughter for the lesson to stick is just weird. 3)The Great Saiyaman thing is easy to explain. Gohan is good-natured and doesn't like watching people suffer. Yet he doesn't want to be recognized and just fit in with his school. So he creates his super-hero persona to beat up people while still living his life care-free. It's not because he likes fighting, but because he likes helping people. And when he's stronger than the common criminal on Earth by order of magnitudes, beating them up isn't really fighting. It's like a professional wrestler in a kindergarden brawl, he doesn't really need to try that much. Personally, I like the idea of Gohan trying to find a balance between what he wants and likes to do (his work and family life) and what he needs to do (get strong enough to protect his world). I don't mind him not being the strongest if he has à fumfilling life that doesn't revolve around fighting while still keeping up with his responsabilities. Super did try to achieve this, but damn it was messy, with Gohan's realisation coming too late and his training being so out of focus.
Definitely want to see more analysis from you. I agree. People need to remember that Gohan doesn't have the love of fighting like Goku and Vegeta do. Therefore he will want to live his own life. My favorite gohan was Namek saga Gohan because he was afraid of fighting during the Saiyan Arc and then he goes to fighting guys way stronger without hesitation at the age of 5!
I always thought UI made more sense for Gohan than goku. He already ditched the super saiyan transformations and UI seemed like a natural progression from his mystic form.
I don't think it would have been good in regards to his mystic form but for his character yes. Ui is the perfect form for someone who doesn't really like fighting and will only do it to protect himself and others.
What if Gohan turns into a very powerful villain? Because I don't see them doing any justice for him as of now. So it got me thinking, Gohan could potentially be the best villain ever. A tragic supervillain to be exact. Like another version of Lord Drakkon. Jealousy of his father, being looked down by many that makes him drastically changed to a cold and heartless person. Gonna be like Batman VS Arkham Knight kinda thing. A new idea just came across to my mind. If they bringing Turles to the DBS/canon universe in the future, he could be use as a major supporting antagonist. As you can see, in Turles movie, he sparked an interest in having Gohan to join him as he recognizes the boy's potential. By using that point of story, he could brainwashed Gohan's mind and turning him into a tragic supervillain. Making Gohan as the new emperor of Saiyan race, thus calling him Lord Gohan and creating his new Saiyan army.
Gohan was basically a child soldier and he had every right to want to put that life behind him! I haven’t even seen the video yet, I just wanted to get that off my chest.
@@moneymankkk5797 no cap cell as villian serves his purpose for the narrative incredibly well Sick and tires of people who think villians need deep motivation and back story but what's really important is the story being told And cell being evaporated to the very last cell in his death ,makes no sense he is sympathetic whatsoever I can go on about him helping with the hero journey for Gohan but I'll leave it here for now
If anyone who claims to be a Gohan fan still cries that weird “I mIsS tHe oLd gOhAn” shit after watching this clearly didn’t follow his character at all. I’ve been trying to tell these casuals about this for years.
Yo chuck, I think when super comes back, it should start with the Cooler movie. In it, he goes to recruit broly or kill him to remove a potential ally for Freiza, things go well at 1st but Cooler ends up fight and almost killing broly, only to have Goku, vegeta, Gohan, and piccolo step in to help. Gohan and broly end up working together and cooler gets away in the end, deciding to work with freiza and find more powerful fighters in a "plan to eradicate the saiyans"🔥 In the end, gohan decides to mentor broly, id like that.
I love TOP Gohan but the shock of lossing everything do to his over confidence during the buu arc should have been a eye opener for him to train to protect his precious people like he always wanted to BOG Gohan didn't show extreme loss in power but Beerus showing up and him finding out he was gonna be a dad should have got him to train to be strong enough to protect his family but by the time of ROF he can barely turn super Saiyan I'm ok with him being a family man but he needs the strength to protect said family
I think after Goku's first fight with Beerus Gohan decided he'd just leave it all to his father. It was during the RoF arc when he realized he should've been keeping up with his training. Gohan doesn't have to be a battle maniac like his father, but he should continue to keep up with his training so he can protect his family. And I still want to see this ultimate form that no one has seen before he spoke of.
@@KillrMonkey19 Yes, there’s nothing wrong with gohan living his own life with his family, same time he can at least continue his training to protect his family and honestly the buu arc and BOG should’ve been a red flag to gohan, as enemies or antagonists show up to earth of their own accord not thanks to goku as he believed at the end of the cell arc.
Chuck, will you ever consider doing a video on Knull? Hes a very interesting character, being the creator of the necro sword, out matching silver surfer in terms of speed and ripping the sentry in half instantly. Not to mention he beheaded a celestial and enslaved three of them and likely killed more in his ancient battles with them. Im surprised nobody on youtube has made a video on how powerful he is.
Gohan is al time fav character idc he isnt like goku or has no fighting wish he proves he trains and regains his strengt when needed to defend earth and his loved ones
He had his moments of pure saiyan badassery in super too. Even if it was just at the end of it I'm still grateful for it. Also at 3:34 I thought my screen auto rotated on me
Excellent vid and great points. I always viewed Goku as Gohan's crutch. Gohan could be lax because Goku was always around. But like in the android saga with future Gohan when Goku wasn't coming back Gohan stepped up to the mantle. Until he lost that arm trying to save trunks. Huge character flaw of not focusing in his fights.
Headcanon: Gohan regressed during the 7 years because of his childhood trauma. When he trained too hard, he would have flashbacks of seeing all his friends being beaten bybthe bad guy.
The single best iteration of post buu saga Gohan is the one from the fan manga Dragonball Multiverse. A Gohan who indeed became a scholar and family man but never lost any of his power and will step up whenever he has to protect the ones he cares about. The power-scaling isn’t as wack as in Super so it was easier to keep him relevant in terms of fighting capabilities but what makes him so much cooler than Super Gohan is the way he carries himself and the few scenes you actually see him fighting.
The Saiyan Saga was no doubt gohan's greatest development. The fact that Stone Cold Steve Austin came from the titantron, open a can of whoop on the Z warriors, stomped the mudhole out of Piccolo, and stunner Gohan *TWICE.* Just for Gohan to get up on the 2 count, then hit Austin with the sayian bottom AND the people's masenko? That was the most unpredictable writing Toriyama ever came up with. That was until Prince McMahon hit Gohan over the head with a steal chair.
I don't hate Gohan, after all he's my favorite character, but when he showed up to fight Super Buu and he didn't kill him that's when I took issue. He watched what happens when you play around with a villain too long when Goku died yet still just didn't go in for the kill with Buu. Of course that was more plot armor so that Goku could do his thing, however I would have much preferred Gohan, the character they had been hyping up since he got his potential unlocked by Old Kai, didn't just end up getting absorbed. Also this is just my opinion, but how could a person with so strong seeing the horror's he had to fight why would he ever let himself slip. Its not about Gohan enjoying combat its about being mature enough to understand that he would realize sometimes you have to fight and when the time comes you should be ready. Not that it really matters since its the Goku and Vegeta show these days, but that' just my take on it.

Thanks so much for watching guys!
Why haven't u done a vid with seth?
Love your vids, but I'm curious, have you ever thought of making a 'WHAT IF' about Vegeta wishing for a new planet Vegeta, like he doesn't revive them, but actually makes a new Sayian Race?
(Could take place after Buu or U7 Vs U6?)
Chuck did you see noodles flipping his shit over a debate with swag at seth? It was High key funny af.
Gohan is great the way he is
The biggest problem with Toriyama's portrayal of Gohan is that he never shows Gohan actually being excited for or interest in becoming a scholar.
@@powerjolt7215 Yeah we could have at least have him write a book on Saiyans or something

@@rayan-xg5kw Who said anything about great detail? The problem is we got NOTHING so when the story tells us to be happy Gohan finally earned the life he wanted, we have nothing to connect that with emotionally like when we are shown Piccolo beginning to care about Gohan, Vegeta promising to take Trunks to the park or Roshi reflecting on his student's impact on him
Quite literally half of a page during any of the downtime, at any point where Gohan shows genuine interest or excitement about learning SOMETHING would be more than enough

Very nice way of putting it!
Krillin is more like an Uncle that your friend than a Big brother to gohan.

Finally people misunderstood dragon ball super because one of this reasons
"Stop attacking yourself! I don't know where you got this idea there's something wrong with you but there's not."

I still think he should be wearing a green and purple Gi.
Technically if not for Goku, Zeno would have wiped out U7, so Goku giving a reminder was extremely lucky
This is why I've always said Gohan is the most RELATEABLE character in Dragon Ball.
This Bardock>New Bardock.
FACTS!!
What is his incentive to train instead of focusing on his studies?
it's obvious that gohan isn't as hype as he used to be but gohan's character getting ruined is an exaggeration

If anything people should be happy with the current gohan. In terms of his strength he’s stronger than he’s ever been, and his characterization is the absolute best version of what It was supposed to be from the beginning.
Well duh he’s stronger than he’s ever been….that’s kinda obvious
Hell no.
@@unlimitedwar5983 he literally defeated kefla in the manga, wym
My question is will you go over terms like Outerversal and stuff? Such as, are you Outerversal if you view any dimension (even if it is infinite dimensional) as fiction?
I think it is depending on the fictional transcendence.
Well Fictional Transcendence makes them far beyond Dimensions (depends on transcendence tier).
To answer your question at the end of your sentence, outerversal fully transcends infinite dimensions which these dimensions trivialize lower dimensions to insignificance
And a character is not considered outerversal by stacking more infinite on top of infinite
So yeah, a character can be considered outerversal if it views any dimension as fiction
Ok amazing vid Chuck and BO2 background noise hits
Glad you enjoyed
Awesome video! I love Gohan!
Just wanted to shoutout youtube for putting me this video in my recommendation 1 minute after his publication
Finally, someone says it.
Finally, a Gohan appreciation video lol.
Thank you for the video :)
not sure if this interests you as a concept, but yamcha in dragonball super is not as weak as everyone thinks, he get's underestimated by the cast to the point where he even doubts himself which is why he didn't step into to fight beerus in the battle of gods arc. that being said, beerus, incapped all of the z fighters in no time flat with very little effort. later on, in the baseball episode yamcha tanked multiple hit's from not only vegeta but even champa which scales to beerus pretty closely. he can at-least scale or stack up to tien and krillin still. if goku were to fight him, goku would likely go blue (because even though he takes the fight slowly to size up opponents, he still has very little sense of holding back, he went blue against krillin and a weakened gohan multiple times, he goes blue for the most trivial reasons sometimes)
Ok now I want the Ichigo video
Krillin is more a uncle than brother. Also Ichigo was more forced to embrace his hollow, and later Quincy self, to beat certain enemies. While Gohan didn't have to go as hard as his own dad does, in battle. He's strong enough but never the topdog. Gohan ain't as bad as people think, but he isn't what they'll think of when it comes to guys wanting to be the ultimate warrior.
Now if you want a character done terribly, try Tien and Yamacha!
Great video!
Black ops 2 music nice choice 😂
Not liking to fight and preferring to study/spend time with family is one thing. Not even attempting to keep himself strong enough to fight any threats which may appear (and, from experience, the characters know threats appear quite often) and protect that family he loves due to being one of the few people able to is something different.
"but the fact that Gohan looked past this, is in itself a great testament to his character...wouldn't you think?"
No.
I’m subbing for your skill of reading my mind
I love this. More please!
Thought you jumped on a space ship to Mars
Maybe someday :)
I have not heard the BO2 Menu theme in quite a bit and did not expect to hear the nostalgic wub wubs on a video about a strong nerd.
Nice video
Thanks!
This is a really good video, definitely worth the like and share
Thank you kindly!
Always enjoy looking at series retrospectives, especially dbz considering how old it is. I would love seeing more character analysis by you and Seth 🤌
Chuck we want more collabs with seth
4:26 "Saiyan Steve Austin."
Lol!
Gohan was basically a child soldier and he had every right to want to put that life behind him!
I haven’t even seen the video yet, I just wanted to get that off my chest.
yep
What I want people to understand is that perfect cell is one of the greatest villains in anime
@@moneymankkk5797 no cap cell as villian serves his purpose for the narrative incredibly well
Sick and tires of people who think villians need deep motivation and back story but what's really important is the story being told
And cell being evaporated to the very last cell in his death ,makes no sense he is sympathetic whatsoever I can go on about him helping with the hero journey for Gohan but I'll leave it here for now
If anyone who claims to be a Gohan fan still cries that weird “I mIsS tHe oLd gOhAn” shit after watching this clearly didn’t follow his character at all. I’ve been trying to tell these casuals about this for years.
Fate/ video please :)
Or a Galactus video please
Thank you for the video
Yo chuck, I think when super comes back, it should start with the Cooler movie. In it, he goes to recruit broly or kill him to remove a potential ally for Freiza, things go well at 1st but Cooler ends up fight and almost killing broly, only to have Goku, vegeta, Gohan, and piccolo step in to help.
Gohan and broly end up working together and cooler gets away in the end, deciding to work with freiza and find more powerful fighters in a "plan to eradicate the saiyans"🔥
In the end, gohan decides to mentor broly, id like that.
Ayee, Bleach! Nice comparison man. Keep up the awesome videos!
Appreciate it!
Gohan is al time fav character idc he isnt like goku or has no fighting wish he proves he trains and regains his strengt when needed to defend earth and his loved ones
Bro the ppl who dislike videos can never be happy bruh😂😂
He had his moments of pure saiyan badassery in super too. Even if it was just at the end of it I'm still grateful for it.
Also at 3:34 I thought my screen auto rotated on me
Excellent vid and great points. I always viewed Goku as Gohan's crutch. Gohan could be lax because Goku was always around. But like in the android saga with future Gohan when Goku wasn't coming back Gohan stepped up to the mantle. Until he lost that arm trying to save trunks. Huge character flaw of not focusing in his fights.
FINALLY YOU UPLOADED
