How Strong Is Cell Max? With the newest Dragon Ball Super movie being released in June, new transformations, characters, and stakes were introduced! One of them being the true, final antagonist of the film, Cell Max, the supposed upgrade to the classic Dragon Ball Z villain, Cell. And with his appearance, he prompted Gohan to unleash a new power-up and was implied as being far stronger than Goku, Vegeta, and Broly. However, how true is this? How strong is Cell Max really? Is he the strongest villain in the franchise thus far?

For those saying this movie doesn't take the manga into consideration. There was a promo that confirms that the events of the Moro arc did take place. So, Piccolo and Gohan are aware of Goku's level of power from that arc at least.

Honestly cell max was kind of a let down, for one it didn’t make sense that he was huge it was pretty corny I now broly was big but he wasn’t a fucking giant, it also would have been cool if he absorbed the 2 androids and “gains” a brain and remembers gohan since I’m sure the androids are possibly on the same database that way we would have gotten more of beast gohan
He is strong enough to be a Raid Boss.
The fact not only piccolo got a new form, but also the fact he actually used telekinesis and went giant sized made the whole movie super worth it for me.

I think people underestimate how much more powerful Goku got. SSJG was a base multiplier and at the beginning of Super it was implied that base Goku was around final form Freeza level so SSJG took Goku from planet/star level at base to able to destroy the macrocosm. That kind of multiplier is insane then he got that in his base form just to get that same amp when he goes SSJG again.

Goku's base in the buu arc has been estimated to be at least 3 billion
I think people misunderstand the whole god ki in base form thing. Goku had the power of ssjg as a ssj but that was only for the Beerus fight. It was muscle memory. If this wasn’t the case then goku wouldn’t need to transform into ssjg ever again. Going ssj would automatically activate ssjb. People like cale, Cabba and caulifla wouldn’t be able to fight toe to toe with ssj goku and vegeta otherwise as shown multiple times throughout the series
So base Goku and Vegeta would have needed to go ssj to beat Android 18 in the world tournament? Doubting this. If you are basing this info on the Beerus comment, remember that before dbz most saiyans could not suppress their battle power.
One thing to note is that toriyama meant for Dragon ball super: Super hero to be a direct sequel to the broly movie. That being said, it’s more likely that the gammas are more likely being compared to Goku and Vegeta from the broly film even though we know the events of the Moro and granolas arc take place before super hero. Also, the anime/movie power scaling is different from the manga. So we really won’t know for sure how strong anyone is from this film until the Moro and granolas arcs are adapted into the anime

@@reptilian_geneticist you’re just being dense at this point there’s multiple statements that point to this being a direct sequel to the broly movie, the dragon ball statement, the fact that it was literally stated to be a direct sequel to the broly movie, the statement about cell max being able to rival broly had he been completed so unless you think broly got some crazy form after the granola arc that put him above mui and ue vegeta then this isn’t a sequel to the Moro and granola arc and plus the movie was in its development stages before the Moro arc
@@reptilian_geneticist the movie script was finished before the Moro and granolah arcs even started, the movie has been in early production since before the broly movie was in theatre, this movie takes place in a world where the broly movie was the last conflict until It gets readapted in the anime where they are all in the same continuity, this is supported by one of geekdoms sources that worked on the movie, he asked them if ultra ego was going to be in the movie and they replied with “what’s that?” Meaning they aren’t even aware of the manga events when working on the movie
Personally I've felt the powerscaling and power creeps since Super itself started have been getting extremely ridiculous and inconsistent. It also doesn't help that the anime and manga have showcased very different feats, stories, and match ups. I've enjoyed super in both manga and anime form but it feels like Toriyama is just kind of losing it in terms of how to adjust powers and explain power boosts and scale. It's been all over the place
Manga is almost always more consistent with power levels though. In the anime, it seems like anything goes. Like Merged Zamasu holding his own against Blue Vegito, even though there is no way he should be able to and it was demonstrated how much he sucks compared to Vegito in the manga. Or that Yamcha and Tien were fighting a little well against Cell Jr's. even though they got their ass kicked completely in the manga.
Toriyama barely has anything to do with dbs he just wrote vague plot points. Mostly toei is to blame for dbs's inconsistencies and in my opinion they're the reason why dbs sucks

It stands to reason why a suped up clone of Cell would become insanely powerful. Look at how powerful Frieza got from a few months in training and unlocked a new form. Cell is a modified clone of Frieza, King Cold, Piccolo, Goku and Vegeta. So you'd think his potential would be insanely high and this is a modified clone of Cell.

Well, Cell Max was built based off of the original Cell’s blueprints. Cell Max does not have anybody else’s DNA inside of him, as he didn’t regenerate the arm he lost when Gamma 2 blasted right through it

Basically they gave him internal training, Cell Max got gains comparable to Black Frieza from his creation process.

The only problem with the Goku and Vegeta scaling argument (which seems to be Super Saiyan level at most, since thats the form Gamma 1 expected Gohan to use) is that Hedo has never seen an alien before, implying any battle data he has on Goku and Vegeta would be based off of a battle with no alien directly present.
What I am thinking is, based on that and how this movie in the anime continuity thus far, is a direct followup to Broly, Hedo probably scales Goku and Vegeta based off data in their battles eith Broly, or well, as much as he was able to discover. Piccolo knee their levels at that time too and we get Toriyama's statement on Cell Max being on par with FP SS Broly making this a very believable power scale (basically Gammas probably being blue level tops with the Broly movie).
Not true. Hedo just was surprised when he saw Gohan transform into Super Saiyan which he used to think is some kind of a trick but not an alien. So it's not even about his power as there's many at verbatim statements from Authors and in the movie that they're strong as Goku and Vegeta most likely in their strongest states.

The thing with cell max being around FP ssj broly has to be weird as during the entire movie they was flying around at massive speeds and when broly went ssj for the first time he turn the entrie artic into a hell scape with his volley of ki blast so any drone at that point would have been destroyed and in turn could not record anything

In the movie, they RETCON Jiren’s power, by simply stating that the power gap between Goku and Jiren was not that much. Jiren was only stronger because he didn’t waste energy on unnecessary movement. This was stated by Vegeta, which he is then congratulated by Whis for “finally” realizing it.

Toriyama is a gag writer I doubt he would care to write something that make sense if he loves to draw gag manga.
Technology in the DB universe is actually nuts. It's never really focused on but we got stuff like planet destroying androids and no limits time machines being made left and right. Bulma even made a bullet that was supposed to wound a god in Gokus body. Science is just as op as ki it seems.

Personally I believe the « Goku and Vegeta » who are on par with Gamma 1/2 according to Piccolo are the Goku/Vegeta who fought against Broly in their Blue form and not the ones in the manga because Super Hero is a direct sequel to Broly. It looks like they didn’t really take the manga in consideration making this movie.

The manga is not being referenced in the movie. If anything, the data used was from the Broly movie if not before it. The power scaling wouldnt make sense otherwise.

@@RagingBlazeBloodBaka what didn't? The manga isn't referenced in the movie. The movie will be referenced in the manga. How can you try and take the manga as an absolute pointer of the continuity when it has scenes like Roshi dodging Jiren and Gohan beating Kefla?
One thing to note is Gohan wasn't entirely rusty. At the end of the movie, Gohan admits that he "trained in secret" to Piccolo. So that can explain why Gohan was relative to post ToP Goku.

Weird, this was supposed to be a android like cell that’s superior, but no regeneration, and a weak spot in the head, also they didn’t add in the genetic data of the characters that came during, and after the cell games, I’m not sure how Gero’s grandson thought this would be better.
If cell max was based off of og73 or Moro73, I can get that since removing the genetic flaws of the beings that made up cell would be perfect, while still having their powers, and abilities, but he just made Kaiju cell, without his personality, and the abilities that made him such a threat.
Hedo wanted to focus solely on the gammas. Cell Max had a couple of flaws (especially its intelligence) and had some weak points in case if it run amok. Which it did. So Hedo deliberately made parts of cell max weaker to the original.

Correct me if I am wrong . Is the movie not a different continuity like the DBS anime and manga are different continuity . Like the same events happen in each continuity but the specifics are different which can have difference in the power scaling
After the fight with Max Cell, Piccolo asked Gohan what his attack was, referring to the Special Beam Cannon that he used to defeat Max Cell. Gohan then says that he's been training in secret, and didn't want anyone to know. So Gohan was not as rusty as we have been lead to believe. He's not as on top of it as Goku, or Vegeta, but he is doing some undisclosed amount of training.

The problem with this is piccolo has never sparred with mui goku. Piccolo may be refering to ssj or even base goku. Or just goku the last time they sparred. This makes more sense and makes all the power scaling more line up. Not to mention, we know piccolo cant even sense his energy while goku is in blue.

@@baldinggogeta6335 it doesn’t make sense, in the mange after the broly movie Moro happened, super hero was never brought up in the mange, besides Gohan was no match to moro and didn’t have the beast form. When this movie is meant to be a direct sequel to broly movie, so one of three things is true either this movie + broly movie are in a separate timeline (which is hinted by the manga which states broly movie is a tale of another time) or this movie is not canon, or this movie + broly movie are canon to the anime, which is hinted at by the flashbacks in the movie. And not one hints at it being manga powerscaling

I would agree with this but the Super Hero movie is following the Anime's continuity and not following the manga's continuity since they keep mentioning Broly & Jiren as power rankings instead of Moro, Granolah and Gas
That is exactly what I thought. If going by the manga continuity, Granolah arc Ui Goku is like 5 or 6 levels above TOP MUI Goku lol. Unless you think Cell max is also several levels above TOP Goku. Which seems unlikely.

I enjoyed the movie but I would be lying if I said the writing was good. Shit that didn't make sense to me includes but is not limited to: Shenron just randomly "giving a bonus", Rusty Gohan being stronger than MUI(Yes he has huge potential but you'd need to train for that), Dr.Hedo, a genius being fooled so easily, Goku dismissing Vegeta meditating even though he himself meditated on Yardrat and to top it off, Pan not being able to fly in the movie even though she already did in super. Also Beerus having a crush ? Bruh could you make him even a little less comedic relief and more "destroyer god". Sorry for the rant, I just have a few gripes with Super's writing.
If I went all out I could probably fight Cell Max. Great video!
I find it hard to believe that Goku and Vegeta aren’t stronger after the Broly and Morro fights. Heck we even see in the Granola arc, Goku combine his UI with SSGB. No doubt in my mind that the Gammas are real strong or that Cell max is Strong himself. But there’s no way in my mind they are stronger or on par with Goku and Vegeta. But I even find harder to believe that the New RR army can duplicate or create GOD ki. Great video btw.
The more I think about it, the more I realize the writers just don't give a shit about power consistency anymore, rusty Ultimate Gohan should have no chance against anything Goku and Vegeta can do, but apparently he can keep up with them, yeah I give up 💀

It has to be a direct sequel to broly, this is the only way to make that scaling not be atrocious.
With that you could argue gamma 1 and 2 are relative to goku and vegeta in the broly movie who are slightly stronger than in the TOP (smaller zenkais because they didn’t come close to death). Gohan was relative (regrettably😑) to ssb goku and had been doing light secret training after the TOP which explains his power.
That means semi-perfect cell max scales closer to a FP jiren instead of Moro. Jiren wiped the floor with vegeta and managed to beat MUI goku so that explains the line about semi-perfect cell max being stronger than goku and vegeta because they had yet to display the power in the Moro and granolah arcs.
This also explains the line about broly (which heavily implies that broly could beat semi-perfect cell max). If he scaled to gas then there’s no way broly could, but if he scaled to jiren it is far more possible. Then that puts perfect cell max either around gogeta blue or beyond him.
Of course this also implies other statements, such as gogeta blue being above MUI and broly being stronger than jiren but oh well🤷♂️

Orange piccolo=blue goku=blue vegeta=ultimate gohan

Some of the choices in this movie were whack. Literally barely anyone went super saiyan against Cell max, which was funny.
Goku and vegeta being equal or lower than the plastic mass produced looking gammas is really weird. I also wish Cell didn't just rip off Broly

I just saw this movie last night and DAMN it was so good, now thinking about the power scale this movie was such a powerhouse overall, how scary it is how humans can create god-level threats, how scary strong gohan and piccolo can be, and just… wow man
Wish the end fight of the movie was longer! Could’ve been a better final battle between GOHAN and this version of Cell but what we got was still amazing! Loved the film.
They kept it short so they can show him off in the next movie/saga.
I wonder if we ever see a complete version of Cell Max. Maybe in Heroes?
I seen the movie, but how in the heck did the Red Ribbon army make androids and a cell that could threaten the multiverse with Earth technology. I wish we could've seen the process of them collecting data and making the Gammas. That's why I loved the Broly movie since you could tell how powerful Broly and Gogeta when they were shattering dimensions. Dragonball Super in general needs to practice "Show don't Tell" a lot more.
Cell Max is one of worst villains/antagonist in dragon ball I've ever seen even worse than garlic jr toriyama basically took semi prefect cell but made him bigger stronger and red the movie was a complete letdown and not enjoyable to me which isn't surprising in modern dragon ball nowadays.

cell max has no feats or anything lmao he only has some random statements. gammas were somehow at goku and vegeta in blue form level but struggled against a regular ssj gohan and piccolo. at best the gammas are above buu level and cell max is around super buu at best. there are no actuall shown feats that put cell max above anything post z

Cell Max might be stronger than the original cell. How and Why? Cell Max was created after so many battles even Moro. Can you imagine that red ribbon collected all every traced of dna from goku, gohan, piccolo, vegeta, trunks, goten, wait Broly was on earth, too, Moro, majin buu, undroid 17 And 18. He's already turned into semi perfect cell without absorbing 17. So that means he's very crazy strong. I believe he has brolly dna so make sense he's out of control. What if they got Bill's dna when Goku ssgod clashed with Bills. Cell Max indeed crazy strong, Gohan even crazy he destroyed this cell before into his perfect form.
Now that the movie has come out in English, I think the power of the Gammas and Cell Max was, within the movie, narratively compared with the likes of Jiren and Broly rather than Gas or Moro (and consequently, Ultra Instinct and Ego). After all, Goku and Vegeta in this movie believe that, although they're closing the gap, Jiren and Broly are impressive and stronger than them. Thus, with the Gammas and Cell Max being implied to be a difficult match for even Goku and Vegeta, it seems they're likely similar to someone like Broly or Jiren.
Still impressive, but not exactly Moro arc, Granolah, gas, or Black Frieza.
I hear a lot of cap stuff in this video. The Super-Hero film takes place right after Broly movie , that's one. Gammas are not the same powerlevel as Goku and Vegeta in Broly movie because Red-Ribon weren't spying on Z-Fighters since Cell Saga (at least acording to information in the movie). Makes you realize, Earth scientists in dragonball are extremely advanced, even early dragonball technology already has shrinking tech, literally earth is more advanced than any other planet out there but earth was regarded as "primitive low tech" planet.
Infinite energy, gravity manipulation, space-time manipulation, micro bio manipulation, ftl spacecraft even better than Saiyans vehicles which is a planet trader, etc.

Since Granolah Arc they messed up the power sclaing even more than atactually was. Also, they made Angel Power and Ultra Instinct just a joke. Suddenly somehow every random person is able to surpass angels with ease. Even androids can be stronger than most gods of destruction and some angels. Its a joke and wasted all the potential.

Movies are animation, but that doesn't make them part of the DBS ANIME SHOW.... there seems to be some confusion about this and some people think that just because its animation its automatically part of the anime tv show and thats absolutely incorrect. Those statements from piccolo hold no merit. Piccolo cannot sense god ki and neither can gohan therefore it is utterly false to say something as crazy as gamma 1 and 2 being on par with mui goku from the Moro arc. This movie was written purely as a sequel to the Broly film. It really doesn’t account for the events in the Moro and granolah arcs because it was being written around the time the Broly film was being released. I have no idea why toriyama made cell max into a rehash of bio Broly. It was a horrible mistake. He should have reached completion and not have been a giant rage monster to better scale his power and feats

Wrong. In the manga Piccolo perfectly scaled and predicted the outcome of the battle between Moro and UI goku. He even stated that Super Saiyan Blue was the strongest at its form during this time which was also true.

Some can argue goku posses immeasurable speed considering suppressed jiren was outright stated to be stronger than zamasu by vegeta who crossed alternate timelines with alternate realities in an instant like it was nothing with pure brute force which should be above linear past and future if not infinitely above.Still Beerus and others wasn't even that impressed.Goku black also make holes in alternate timelines.Even though all universes in dragonball shares the same timeline.Timelines in dragonball way bigger than average universal or multiversal timeline.

Piccolo's transformation was the best part about this film and the most acceptable one for me.
Cell max was just eh... it's like I don't really care about how he's a call back. They should've just put a different villain not another mindless raging baby boy. Then there's Gohan's random unnecessary transformation and it's a literal copy paste of ssj2 moment.
